Finnish Dad Sends 'Youngest Astronauts Ever' On A Space Odyssey
Goal: Give my kids and my friends kids a lifetime memory and send them on a trip to space.
At max altitude (5min 23s): • Near Space Tuusula - m...
The whole flight took 2 hours and 47 minutes. At altitude 28900 meters the balloon bursted. At ground level the diameter of the balloon was 2 meters and just before the burst it was 6 meters. We used three different GPS-locators, two with GPRS and one with satellite transmission, to track the the balloon. After the burst the parachute opened after few kilometers of free fall and took the packet safely to ground.
This is "Director's Cut" and it is about 11 minutes long, if you want something shorter, please check the shorter version below. This version includes more information of the project including the used equipment, more views from different heights, superb sound track from Rationalizer and more video before the liftoff.
Shorter version: • Near Space Tuusula - m...
This was supposed to be christmas present for my godsons, but it was ready a bit late.

I like how you can already see “the curve” 6feet off the ground 🤣
Taas kalansilmälinssi joka kaartaa suoran horisontin. Maa ei ole pyörivä pallo. Maa on liikkumaton ja tasainen maanpiiri jonka ylle kaareutuu taivaanvahvuus kupoliksi.
Upea idea ja loistava toteutus! Kiitos!
Fish eye lens again!
So..why isn't the picture curved?
don't be ignorant please do some research and study, OK? The reason is that the camera has a wide angle lens (you capture much more than you would with a standard lens.) which offers a much wider field of view. The consequence is that objects that are more towards the periphery look curved. When the edge of the globe is in the center of the frame, much less is captured.
@ongabriendocaminos2197 those are two different types of lenses.. DO YOUR RESEARCH!
@@ongabriendocaminos2197 Doesn't matter, it curves and concaves everything with a pitch up or down camera. It's supposed to be flat man.
@@ironwork92000 Talking to these people (flat earthers/deniers/etc.) is like arguing with an elementary school dropout who is also drunk. I find it very funny and sad at the same time..

even with the fish eye lens you can see how close the sun really is inside the firmament...LET'S GO BRANDON
Got an idiot over here guys
@@tylerchambers6246 yes sir I'm an idiot
fish eye lens has nothi to do with the distance of the sun besides that if sun was really close to earth then it would have progressively gotten bigger as the video was going higher in the altitude but what can i expect from someone who doesnt know the use of fish eye lens in the first place
Again why isn't the picture curved? Also why didn't it look curved from first start? Earth is not flat!!
@@isaacsilva8033 : Agreed!

awesome.
360° video, that's why you see it spinning, and it's actually flat
Wow look how small the earth looks!
You'll soon have the earth looking round with that lens. Lol
Interesting, but "near Tuusula" - i wanted to see some familiar sites of Tuusula, but could not - and then you write that you have started from Lempäälä.
You can see Tuusula from video and there are local people on video
凄い!
The last 100 meters and land in the shape of a circle until it hit the ground
Litteältä näyttää.
5:50 myös todistaa, että aurinko on paljon pienempi kuin maa.
Juu ei Maa mikää pallo ole.
hardest big eye lens xD
Valokuvat aivan mahtava idea 😃
Lähipiirin lapsille ja kummilapsille muistoksi 📸
Fisheye ... why?
Why not? If you try it once, then you want to get as wide view as possible
Cool project.. enjoyed..
I really feel for you that Flat earthers have found this video and posting their ruffish on it..
Thanks, yeah they keep sending them 🌍
You should better be concerned with your.......not "entangled mindcells"......but totally dead braincells🤣🤣🖕

How do these balloons overcome the magical force of gravity?
כח כבידה / כח משיכה לא באמת קיימים.
@@lsd111000 exactly
Because helium is less denser then air
air is affected by gravity. the helium floats due to buoyancy over the air. like if you were to put an air filled balloon under water, it would float to the top, do you really think gravity is just "things go down?" its "mass attracts mass" that means that things with mass will get closer to other things with mass. please, if you dont understand something, that doesnt mean its wrong. your brain could revolve inside a peanut shell for millions of years without touching the sides.
@@salmeleons mass attracts mass huh? Then how does a hot air balloon lift off earth if gravity is real and "mass attracts mass?" How come the giant mass of earth doesn't keep the balloon stuck to earth? How come your air filled balloon under water doesn't get sucked down further under water? You know, closer to earth, because "mass attracts mass." You're the one who doesn't understand things kid.
You need to install some sort of valve to release part of the Helium at high altitude. Notice how the temperature rises at approx. 25 km... I don't know if Hydrogen is better (or even legal, as it is flammable), but it has about half the density of the Helium, with half the pressure you can lift the same payload...
Either way it is very difficult to go higher than 50 km and, for what I've seen there isn't much difference from 30 km... Great video (pity the flatties in the comments' section...)
120km is max!
The Firmament stops even a rocket at 11,7-12 depending on where.
I guess this is in Suomi=Finnország=Finland...
Actually hydrogen will not change much, but valve will ;)

You won't see a circle at that height :-). Even at space station, you don't see the full sphere. You need to go even higher than that.
OMG....what is the problem with using ft....and secondly you mean to tell me there's only one race of people on the planet that's been in space

Why does the balloon explode?
Because air pressure is so low at high altitude the balloon expands and ultimately explodes at peak altitude
@@terotah On how low the pressure
@@terotah If the balloon rises and there is no pressure, how high is it to hold as a GPS camera?

Non existent as it’s a continent at the South Pole.

@@johnobserve517 you do know at a certain height if it was not curved but flat as your ignorance says you would be able to see to the complete edge not to just beyond the curve
Next time try to put a LEVEL on it. The camera is pointing downward. If it was completely level? You KNOW the Earth is FLAT. Because of the camera angle and the lens used? Looks round. Always use horizon as a key.
🌍
🤡🤡🤡
Listen flat earth is the laughing stock of all of the conspiracy theories you don't even have a working model there is absolutely no evidence for it and even bees are able to tell the earth is round its how they find their way back to the nest so what you are saying is that you are dumber than a bee if you believe in flat earth so just stop and do some research it's your motto anyways oh or better yet learn some physics or astrology or even become a historian there are a tone of fields that you can go into and learn that the earth is round
The edge of the photo in shot is the baseline for the lensing effect. Earths curvature is larger than the pictures bottom edge hence the difference is earth curvature. Go back to school. FE = BS

@@sebastiannolte1201 - I don't care what you have to say... this video footage is deceptive and ridiculous lol...
@@TruthSeeker8717 Way to seek your truth there big guy....
Carve lense
Why you are using camera with fish eye lens? You could of use normal lens, so it will not curve the horizon.
The goal is not to see if the earth is curved, fish eye lens are good, because it shows a wide angle. It is always used to film cycling/driving vlogs.
Now if you want to see the curve, you can put a normal camera, but the curvature will be very small to see, you will need good measurement tools as the horizon will be curved like in half millimeter above the surface of basketball.
@@Novak2611 So, try next time when you launch weather ballons use camera with normal lens, or you can also replace the fish eye lens to normal on any camera. Then it will give the observer true picture of the earth.
@@Merlingin the earth isn't a flat. They don't care about proving it, to you nut jobs

''If you want to get rid of the barrel distortion or "fisheye" look of
your GoPro videos, you can use GoPro Studio to import the footage and
check the "Remove Fisheye" checkbox."
This is from gopro official website ;-)
Make another one with 50mm fixed lens ( that lens shows the close to eye perception, not distorted ) or remove the distortion in the video and you will see NO curvature :D
Regardless the Earth is round or flat you still see a curvature unless the planet's size is unlimited.
Fantastic!!
