Considering that this is the first controller for densha de go to be released after 14 years, I kinda lost it when they announced this controller, also neat is that some PC train simulators work with this controller (BVE and Train Crew are the most notable ones)

The DDG games are pretty hardcore. Love chasing that double zero (0 seconds @ 0.0 meters). I've only done it a couple times! Also, you can use the Switch Zuiki controller on the PS4 version of the game (its much better than the Switch version) if you use a Titan One or Titan Two adapter.
one of my best memories. is playing the PlayStation one with the controller.. we bought it for the meme, then played like a full weekend trying to get perfect.
I would honestly love to see a European localisation of this game. Can you imagine it on some of the beautiful trainlines around the Alps? Maybe the Parisian Metro or London Tube as DLC? They could do so much with this idea. There is a lot of train nerds out there!
Even if it eventually turns out to be as "expansive" as the Train Simulator franchise on steam?
@@AndreaFrancoise Hopefully it would have more of a focus on fun than that franchise does. That one takes "work sim" to the point where it feels like actual, mundane work. And that's without the crazy prices.

Oddly enough the controller is modeled like a toy version of the actual train controls. The subway trains in Japan basically function exactly like a bigger version of what you got.
Seeing you make pretend to be a train conductor with your little hat and whistle was honestly the cutest thing ever
The controller was mapped backwards in the game D: it's push forward for brake and towards you for power. This controller has a lot of use outside of Densha in the train simulator community of Japan for other games like BVE and JR East. Rail Driver is mostly for American trains :p Also older Densha games like the shinkansen have a modelled cab like controls like the Rail Driver. P= Power B=Brake EB= Emergency Brake
I got this Controller for my son for Christmas (and myself), and we just love it! There are actually two simulators that this controller works with, not one. In fact, there are three if you also count one for the PC.

I've seen really cool PC train games, The guy who drives the train shouldnt be late or early. So it builds a great simulation giving you the insight into the timecrunch job! I hope we get more games and controllers like this. Thanks for the spot light.

@@katoshi6464 I think it’s because of the amount of trains that are going from place to place, and if one messes up the entire system gets backed up.

I'd love to see you cover the Taiko drum controller. It's probably one of my favorite controllers I have.
(Although it works best with a real set of taiko drum sticks instead of plastic ones. And some modding is required for higher sensitivity on the drums if you want that.)
The game itself is also my favorite arcade game, and it just isn't the same without the tactile drum.

Btw to get the most use out of it, go into the controller settings inside the game, and enable the very first setting. This will make use of the full range of notches the controller provides ;)

An English fan translation is available for the Nintendo 64 version of Densha de Go.
What I'd love to see are English translations of the other ones, especially Densha de Go Ryojohen.
Also, there's other simulators that have needed English translations for a very long time, like the Tokyo Bus Annai games on the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2, and the rest of the I am an Air Traffic Controller: Airport Hero series.
The settings you play is still in the 'regular pad controller'. You have to change the controller settings into the dedicated mascon controller.

Thing is, train are a huge institution in Japan. Comparable to here in Switzerland (where I'm from). And they have many different train games.
My hope is to be able to return to Japan soon and grab myself one of these.
The only downside of this game is that it doesn't have the stations jingles of the Yamanote Line, which are iconic.
This is the kind of content I'm subbed for. 10/10, and the ad is just pure genious.

I love unnecessarily big and expensive controllers that only work for a few games. Stuff like Guitar Hero guitars, and sim racing stuff. I own way too much of that stuff than what I care to admit.

A game doesn't need to be complicated to be fun. This stupidly simple game with that quirky controller looks like ton of fun for me. I played 2 of these Japanese train simulator in the Nintendo 3DS and those games I played an unhealthy amount of time... and I don't even like trains!

You should check out Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto its available on Playstation, switch & steam they use live action video.
I got to play an arcade cabinet version when I was in Japan and it’s super fun
There is a weird little indie game for PC called Metro Sim Hustle where you also get to drive a train so I actually understand the simple pleasure of perfectly stopping and making great time for your passengers. Metro Sim Hustle also has strippers and drugs and gambling though.
