First heard Jim Reeves when I was 8-years-old driving down to my Dad;;s hometown in Virginia. At age 34 now, I still listen to him a few times a week! I think Jim Reeves and Bing Crosby had two of the greatest voices in music, EVER!
One fine day my father's friend gave me all his collection LPs of Jim Reeves (early 1970s). All my teen years I passed with two things; one books and and other obviously Jim reeves.Velvet voiced Jim Reeves is my all time favorite singer.
One of my favorite songs along with Hank Williams and John Denver! My dad would start drinking, sit on our porch and play it loud enough for the entire road to hear😀those were the great days 1970’s
I appreciate his acknowledgement of the positive impact of the Boy Scouts of America- both on the boys and on the country! I believe that it's we adults and leaders who need to be the good examples to help make the Boy Scouts what they once were.
Mom used to play LPs to keep me & my kid-bro in check during lunch... and Jim Reeves used to be most frequently played... That's how it has remained stuck in our memories some three decades later...

Gentleman Jim died July 31st, 1964. Sadly he was just 10 minutes from his destination of Nashville.
