    Hi Shaun, great review, tested the GT and Superadventure S today, loved both but strangely for me I preferred the S, feels completely finished where the GT which is more in the UK doesn’t have the features the S has, interested in next years GT as I think that will be amazing, I did the same route on both bikes and for my riding the handled each as well as each other. For comparison I had a multistrada and the s handled just as well and the engine is more potent, I hate when the bike industry puts bikes into brackets, for me I could easily keep up with mates on superdukes and tuonos on the super adventure.

      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah the adventure is a very capable bike! To be honest I wouldn't compare it to the GT, it's a very different bike. Glad you had a blast on both, I'd quite happily have them both👍😜

    Tried them all, including the Multistrada. The KTM is by far the best in my opinion.

    You've got me grinning from ear to ear, my next bike is going to be a KTM, probably the SD GT. Iv'e forgotten how good the roads are in Germany, I was stationed in Hohne and Herford in the late 80s and mid 90s, and exercised a lot in that area. I must plan a road trip soon, hopefully on a KTM, great videos, keep up the good work.

    It’s a great value for money bike. I love the GSA and have owned three, but now having retired, money has to spread around carefully, and those initials that in the past I had no interest in, VFM, have to be considered. It’s a truly great bike and I seriously want one.😎👍🏻🏍🙂

    Gorgeous looking bike, living in a remote island I worry about KTM quality and maintenance costs, would feel safer with a Africa Twin or a Super Tenere I think, but a beautiful bike for sure.

  • @eubikedude

    Tank is 23l and good for 300-400km depending on how you are riding. :) Same S-A suspension as the GT, the SD R and SA R have non-S-A.

    Please comment on the “Heat” the bike generates. Had the privilege of test riding this incredible machine for 4 hours (city traffic & hwy). Due to the tremendous heat levels I experienced it forced me to move on. Nice video.

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety

      I didn't notice any heat on this bike from the two days that I had it, but I hardly did any stop start town ridding. I think they all get a bit warm in this case, my SDGT does in the town, but once on the move it's not noticeable.

    • @eubikedude
      @eubikedude Před 6 lety

      Indeed, mine is very cool running. It doesn't even need a heat shield on the rear header like they put on the original SA (T).
      I have the carbon in-fill panels fitted which may help.

    • @hankphillips5096
      @hankphillips5096 Před 5 lety

      With the heat coming off the engine you don't need a heated seat.

      Personally I don't mind getting all down and dirty with a bit of chain maintenance

    • @eubikedude
      @eubikedude Před 6 lety +2

      I have a pro-oiler fitted, only had to wipe the chain a couple of times in 11,000km, some of it in muck, snow etc. etc. If doing actual off-road, bringing a spare chain is a little easier than a spare shaft. Although I do like shaft drives too.

  • @mikestewart7322

    Really nice bike Shaun. Where does the satnav go and what type/make? Can there be an integrated system like the GSA.?

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety

      Mike Stewart that's a Great question! I know you can connect it to your phone for navigation, just like the GS. I'd imagine they have some sort of mount for external sat navs.

    • @eubikedude
      @eubikedude Před 6 lety +1

      There is a piece that clips between the screen mounts. But there are better 3rd party ones. They have always on and ignition switch controlled accessory wores waiting to be connected inside the headlight area and also a full-size accessory socket under a flap just in front of the bars so you can add whatever you like ...

  • @BigSiss
    @BigSiss Před 6 lety

    Here in Utah America almost impossible to test ride a KTM! I am considering the 1290 Adventure S or 1290Gt but I have no idea what to get. I love the torque and power specs on the GT but the dual purpose on the Adventure S. I know you mentioned that they are completely different yet may I ask what you would get haven ridden both, if you could only own 1? I do a lot of highway and city miles, never been off-road yet. Thank you, looking forward hearing from you

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety +2

      Me personally I'm not really into adventure bikes, so I have the GT. My opinion of adventure bikes changed slightly after ridding the adventure S, it's super fast and may be a better bike for you. It's all just a bit easier and more comfortable to ride on the highway and town ridding. Needless to say, you can still do all that on the GT without any problem. Both bikes have the same engine, I suppose you just have to decide what sort of seating position you'd like personally.

      TheLikeableRider I’ve had a 1400 concours before (Sport Touring) and loved it! Then I became a daddy and sold it. Now my little one is 5 and it’s time to get a bike in my life again:) how do you like your GT? Is it comfortable for long rides? Thank you again for replying !

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety +2

      Claudio Nicoli the stock seat is a bit hard, but I've just done a 4000km trip with not much of a problem. The bike is amazing, there's nothing else that I don't like about it to be honest.

    • @BigSiss
      @BigSiss Před 6 lety

      TheLikeableRider that’s a long trip, even for American standards :) thank you again for the help and taking the time to write back, I think I am going with the GT since I can get a better deal on it, and it sounds that both bikes are almost identical besides seating position then. 🤗🤗

    What are the service costs like on the KTM compared to the BMW? That was one of the reasons you didn’t get the Ducati the other year because of the high cost of ownership.

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety

      Steve Harrison going by the first service I had done, it's slightly higher than BMW, but still a lot less than the shocking Ducati prices. Seems prices are higher all over the range these days

    • @eubikedude

      It's not really comparable to be honest, two very different bikes! It's definitely got the power of the XR, but comparing an inline 4 to a Vtwin.....
      Lots of the same tech on them though, the Super Adventure is more comfortable and a real mile cruncher. The XR is more of a comfortable sports bike.
