As a longtime Maher fan watching Random has been disappointing. In this venue he’s too often arrogant, rude & desperately trying to be cool. Sad.
Come on…if Kathy or her doctors said “no smoke around me ever” he wouldn’t have done it.
I avoided this one because she's always rubbed me the wrong way. This was an enjoyable conversation & she comes across surprisingly warm. Happy to have changed my opinion of her at least!
Thank you for having Kathy on! She was out there publicly defending gay and lesbian people way before it was fashionable, and helped me accept being gay when I was growing up. So glad that she has people willing to defend her with their whole chest!
I don't hate people who are gay being a straight white Christian. The Bible says hate the sin not the sinner. What I don't like, is it being forced on us, show up at a Dodgers game dressed as a sexually explicit Nunn in drag, demanding to be celebrated!! If I were to mock the LGBT community, I would get a hate crime, and be labeled as a bigot. How about, ask any of them to name 3 current players on the Dodgers roster and then I might consider them welcome? I also hate that the left rather hire someone due to there color or sexuality than someone fit for the job. Our Vice President for example, or the cross dressing luggage theif. I don't force my Christianity on you, so don't force your beliefs on me. That's the America I want to live in.

When you’re a celeb all news is good news - it’s not bad news so much that they fear, but irrelevance and Bill seems to doing a pretty good job at staying relevant at 67.

Another superb episode from club random,but I see it from a different angle: Bill’s deep understanding of civilization’s big picture informs the noble decision he’s clearly made to try and walk the US back from the brink of actual combat. In an hour Bill treated her with dignity, mildly, adroitly, critiqued her foolish decision, and reminded me of that big picture: my detesting Kathy on a cellular level (regardless of sympathy for any suffering person) doesn’t take away from the fact she’s a neighbor, and that there is a difference between detesting a countryman and wishing them harm.
What you’re doing, Bill, is appreciated by those who see it all the more deeply because I think only we can see what impossible challenges are around the corner.

I have loved Kathy Griffin and followed her career for decades now. Many years ago, her stories about Whitney Houston were what initially drew me in. Kathy had a unique way of telling stories that could make fun of and pay respect to people at the same time. I loved seeing Kathy being able to relate to so many different demographics. I’m not a fan of Trump at all but she definitely didn’t use good judgment with the photo. However, many male comedians cross the line regularly and aren’t punished as harshly. it’s time for her to resume her career. I wish her all the best!!!!!

You know I wasn't a fan of Kathy, but I now realize her 'character' was just that... it is a gig... an act. It's just comedy, she doesn't always make be laugh, but it's just comedy. Cut her some slack.

@mudweiser1391/That's pretty close to my thoughts too. However, I adore really good stand-up comedians. As a practical approach, a person has to be careful. People feel offended because they allow their feelings to get hurt. With certain references made to them that aren't really meant to be harmful. Just don't ever slander someone in a racist, ethnical, or gender biased way. Stand -up comedy is VERY difficult to maintain. Because of coming up with REALLY GOOD material. It's easy to resort to ridicule so when a stand -up does, it's much better if it's pointed in the direction of humorous things that a lot of people can identify with. Like disingenuous politicians as just an example. Or, people doing weird things at amusements parks. If humor is targeted at a certain group of people or is personally insulting in what's perceived in an unfair way, people are going to react adversely. Stand- up isn't easy at all. It might look easy.

I've always thought Kathy was given a raw deal and television personalities who didn't give a crap about Trump turned against her. I've always had her back. I too am so happy she is well and working again.

Bill - Get Patty Boyd on. Loved her when I was younger ( still do) thought she was the prettiest girl I’d ever seen. George wrote “something in the way” about her but later when bitter about the divorce tried to pretend he didn’t. I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t a movie about her and George’s life together. She was part of the Beatles. His new wife gave me the impression that she nailed him while he was I’ll and down; never cared for her. Oh - great guest, love Kathy Griffin!

I've never been a big Kathy Griffin fan, but I Respect the fact that she is a Joan Rivers protege, and I adored Joan. I definitely Respect Kathy for standing up for comedic freedom and not being afraid to offend overly sensitive a**holes.
Joan was a trailblazer!! (Loved her jewelry on QVC back in the 90’s, used to get so many compliments at the office!!)

Kathy came to my mid sized city in 2015 and brought everything 100% to that show. She did not disappoint. 💟 Fell in love with her on the D List and every stand up special I've seen. Such a hilarious lady. (Cooper did her dirty. I was disappointed in how he handled things.)

Kathy was wronged by main stream media and by network executives and this type of thing has happened time and time again throughout generations of people in the public eye.
But long term, her legacy will outlast others who weren’t brave enough to step forward and express themselves.
I think she's been through a lot of bad stuff in the last few years. She was trying to stay in the public eye and did something pretty edgy, comedy wise, concerning Donald Trump. Unfortunately for her, didn't go well. She paid the price. I wish her well.
