Tim I appreciate how you run your projects. One person directing the tractor operator, talking through the project as you go and taking your time so you have more time to react if something starts to go wrong. Not following this example is what gets people into trouble. Nice work, and that little loader is so cool!!

I watched two guys set a new flag pole like that one several years ago. I was surprised to see that the base was set in a special sand mixture. It was very sturdy, but had some flex to it. This was a sideline business that supplemented several families income. They told me that they set over 100 flag poles a year in a three state area. The pole hasn’t had any problems. You will get spoiled with that loader around your barn. Have fun.
It's hard to set the sleeve perfectly straight. The sand gives you a chance to get it tweaked just right. Plus, I think it helps the flagpole in heavy wind.
I remember seeing this at the expo you toured. Ya know Tim, the more toys you bring home, the less playtime original Johnny gets.
You know Tim, I don't normally say this on a tractor/machine video, but I think if the two guys picked up the flag pole and carried it to the trailer, it would have been a lot faster :( Nice video though :)

That bobcat would be great for plowing snow..be nice if you had it until spring..with the extendaboom it would bank snow nicely

The Flag pole came down very nicely. Those poles are very expensive to buy, so saving it is a great thing to do. It would look good at your house. Looking forward to seeing Bobby and all the attachments he can have.
Now all we need is more shots of that elfin redhead in Bobby's cab It is a special treat to see her when she is working. It is a special guest Star sort of thing. Catching her on camera is a delight. Of course Tim who caught her some time ago, know how delightful she very well. With all the troubles around it is nice to see a happy partnership like yours. Being a retired equipment operator I dont think it was a good idea to put the loader lock in place then operating that equipment.
Ok, so one comment saying that, VS one hundred saying we were unsafe for working under it while it was raised. I’d say this approach wins. Also, you don’t give a reason.

Tim, looking forward to learning more about the Bobcat articulated loader in future videos, but I really appreciate the way you weave the story behind what you are doing into your videos. Much like Charles Kuralt used to do on CBS news with his "On the Road" series. Makes me better able to visualize the history of the place where you are working and seeing and appreciating Americana.

This guy must just be very wealthy. He said in one video that Bobcat cost $40,000! One can only imagine how many gently used toys they could buy for that kind of money. And with this machine it doesn't even seem capable of dumping into a full size dump truck.

You will love the loader very very soon. The articulation will take a little getting used to when backing out of certain spots.

I am looking at one of these for my first piece of equipment for landscaping. I have an LS3039r on our farm, and hoping they don"t overlap too much. Thinking it would be low impact to yards, good at moving mulch and light soil, and raised beds into position, as well as snowblowing and hopefully harley raking at some point. the stump grinder seems like a nice option as well as an auger for privacy fences, and the eterra flail mower for MTLS. I really like the MT100 as well, but its a bit rough on a guy to operate all day.
What a great little machine!! I’d have to see what it can do compared to a similarly sized tractor. I do like that it telescopes though. I could think of all sorts of uses for that little guy right there.

I was wondering the same thing a couple of of other comments. Was it really cemented into the ground? I installed my 25' pole with the sand holding it in a sleeve. I know this one was probably installed a long time ago so I was curious. Good job, but I was pretty sure I knew how this was going to end... With someone lifting it with one arm. 😊

I have a like hate relationship with Bobcat equipment (don't care for their skid steers but be loved their Versahandler!) But this does look like a really good machine for loading, snow removal and such. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos with it. I do miss seeing Casey!

Everything went well and I totally trust your judgement and experience, BUT if you had stopped the video once the forks were around the pole and asked your viewers: What do you think will happen now?, I would have almost bet the pole was going to tip over the loader and not come down as easily as it did! Great job.

Yes I fully aware that once buiding gets too old and out of Code. It will be cheaper to tear down and build a new one. Well now this vacate lot can leased out or sold.
I am lucky my Elementary School is still standing and was built in the 1920s.
@@jaybee2344 taxpayers pay the local government to make decisions like that for them. The average taxpayer does not have a clue what it takes to restore an out of date building or even what resources are available locally to do it.
People usually just want to save and restore old stuff because of their emotions and being sentimental, not because of logic or experience with providing municipal services.

I just moved our flag pole concrete and all first they dug a hole at the new location second I wrapped a chain around the flagpole lift it out of the Ground drove to the new location and set it in the pre-drilled hole easy As that

Ha! Turns out it probably weighs 80lbs! We treated it like it weighed 1000lbs! Oh well.

I believe I would prefer a compact wheel loader over a skidsteer on almost any job, but the only drawback would be a flat. If tweels made a tire for one, it would probably be the only choice, unless it was a height issue or length problem. Even then a skidsteer may have issues in that small of a space

That articulated "bobby" is quite a machine. Have you lifted anything heavy with it yet? If so, did it feel firm, like it had a good stable stance? I would think it would take some time getting used to the back end moving around like it does, or did it have a "vinny" feel to it?

I see Bobcat had a little different approach in their configuration. Every loader I've operated, from a 1/2 yard to a 8 yard had the control station mounted on the back half. I am trying to visualize as to whether this setup is a plus, minus or neutral. Have you operated other loaders, if so what is your take on this.
Not enough experience on this one to weigh in. I like the drive on the rear approach of the Ventrac. Large Ag articulates tractors are ‘drive on the front’...so lots of split decisions on this :-)
I went to union Elementary school. My brother used to help raise the flag up that pole and on Arbor Day we planted those trees. Sad to see it gone. But that’s what happens when u get old I guess. Tell Donny R “HI” from Richard and I.

I highly doubt it. Those forestry mulchers require high flow..machine is too small.

We have a 20ft galvanized pipe flag pole, it is heavy! We cannot lift it by hand, and our skid loader can barely lift it.

Actually they do! Here in the Netherlands we have the same loaders but here the brand name is Avant.
Avant is a different manufacturer. They have been making those small loaders in finland since the 1991. Same machine type but combletely different machine.

It's a absolute shame that such a nice piece if equipment could be built so poorly......i almost purchased a L28 recently and on the demo it started pouring hydraulic fluid....if your wanting a articulating mini loader for everyday work take my advice and purchase a avant

I DO NOT like the idea of any articulated loader with the cab mounted on the front frame. In my opinion, that is a horrible design. I am surprised Bobcat put it's name on it. Try backfilling utilities trenches with a side dump bucket all day, they are very easy to for get where your rear end is and your tires will end up in the trench much too easily. It's only my opinion, and I wish you good luck with the machine but I know a lot of other operators feel the same.
