This is the best comparison video, by far, on mini articulating loaders. We're seeing these loaders take quite a bit of market share from (mini) skidsteers. Most of them, including our Intrepid loader, are made in Europe. Skidsteers are barely a thing over there. As a rule of thumb, any loader that seats you on the front ('cab front'), will feature a rigid frame. A cab-rear loader where you sit on the back will oscillate. Thanks for stopping at my booth and reviewing Intrepid loaders👍

hi tim. I live in the netherlands and here u see a load of these loaders driving around. The interpid is called a knikmops here, these are here only used in the smaller size, for the bigger loaders we use giants. thats why the smaller giant you guys tested in not really a match to the rest. Giant puts more effort in making larger machines. Really nice to see these loaders become popular in the USA. It are nice little handy machines.

Hi Tim, great video as always and a great comparison on the small articulated loaders available. Thinking about Ken’s need to move 2000lb loads, one piece of equipment he should consider is a telehandler. They don’t suffer the same visibility of the fork frame as a loader and they generally come equipped with a skid steer coupler. Many models have aux hydraulics on the boom so attachments with 3rd functions can be used as well. May be something to do a future comparison video on?

Tractors do not do a good job with forks. The hydraulics are not smooth enough.

@@kdeckster Kioti’s “thing” is absurd hydraulics flow for the tractor size. You lose some PTO HP to sometimes double the loader capability versus the green and orange.
It depends on what your need is though as far as I can tell. If you are heavily using your PTO this might not be very attractive. If you use your loader or a skid steer auger more, having 17 gpm vs 11gpm can be a difference

Also if you were to get one of your back wheels up on a little pile of dirt the oscillation helps keeping you balanced and will allow you to continue digging flat. This scenario happens a lot in an articulating machine because when coming into a pile anything but dead on, the bucket isn’t wide enough to be scooping up the material where the back wheels are going to run over.

I can’t comprehend that these are in the 60-70k range for a machine with roughly the same engine as my Kubota B2601. I get it, theres some distinct advantages, but is it really 3x the cost to build?

    • @TractorTimewithTim

Hydraulics are expensive. Fancier hydraulic controls, many more valves, much more flow, but yes, even with that, they seem high. Maybe due to lower volume than tractors?

Even something as simple as testing avant and cast on grass tyres while testing multione on tractor tyres and talking about the difference of agility … seriously??
