The Spectral Method in Clouds' Spectral Madness

  • A detailed exploration of the barely-documented "Spectral Madness" bonus mode on Clouds. I've read through the source code on github (github.com/pic..., and while I'm not a C programmer, I gleaned enough information to get a more structured sense of what this surprisingly powerful mode can do: it's far more than the afterthought that Mutable Instruments suggest. It's a quirky phase vocoder, capable of subtle and useful treatments as well as spectral weirdness.
The two samples come from the suggested audio set for Music Thing Modular's Radio Music module: the drum loop is played directly from there, while the voice was resampled and lopped in Tyme Sefari II. The bassline is a Dixie II through a Pittsburgh Filter. There is no external processing, and the rest of Clouds' internal effects (stereo spread, feedback and reverb) were also turned off to focus on the spectral processing.

I'm really interested in the world's first compatible stereophonic high fidelity record for some reason

Great demo. Brilliant idea to have the 3 different sound sources to get an better idea of how the module will effect different sounds.

Brilliant demonstration, agreed that the 3 different samples shows the modules diversity. Please continue to upload more :)

Excellent. MI should send you their other modules (free of course) in exchange for demonstration and analysis. We'd all benefit. Great job!

is this coil's new single? every time he turns that density knob down i was lost in a world of coilness. too bad Sleazy didn't get to play with this.

Dark Miracle I think so! At various times I've moved my uZeus into one of my Elby racks (e.g. while I'm waiting for another power supply to arrive), but usually it stays with the rest of the HEK.

I guess this was a year ago but it’s included in the factory firmware. The manual says how to get to it. I’m guessing some combination of button pressing.
