Ok, I guess I won’t be buying a used mkx, edge, Taurus...I always check the repair issues first, this is a no no!! Why did they design it this way, and why do people buy these?? Thanks!
Wow what a pain in the ass. My girlfriend had just bought an MKX from a local dealer and the water pump went out less than a week later. The dealer agreed to fix it but when he found out what it was going to cost in labor he decided to offer her another car.
I have a mkx 2008 and the water pump its damage and now the engine oil its mixing with water i have a question? The water its mixing because the headgasket are gone or just the water pump needs to be replace it? Cause the water pump its located right next to the engine.
Never buy a Ford with a Duratec 3.5L and a 3.7L V6 engine or you will regret it .. I think these engine range from 2012 - 2017 Taurus, Edge, Lincoln, Explore if I'm not mistaking.. this is the very reason you see alot of these used cars on a car lot today people that know are trading them in before this major failure happen, big bucks $$$$ comes in if it ever does ...
My water pump on the Ford Edge just failed (same engine) and the car overheated. I now have water in the oil. The car does not have a warning system that tells you the coolant is low. The only indication I had was the heater not working the night before. The next day the wife drove it and the rest is history
Whew. I sure hope its the thermostat and not the water pump causing me to overheat. Because I don't think I will have the patience to do this job my self. Sheesh.

Who designs this crap, engineers should be made to work on it to see and publish them.

Timing chains should really be replaced every 100k-130k miles... that's what I've always been taught at least.
