- Tuna Mornay Tuna Pasta Tuna Casserole what ever you know it by is a filling comfort food dish. Its really easy to prepare and make. You can have more sauce and less pasta - more cheese baked on top - the choice is yours. This is certainly one of those old favourites that’s enjoyable anytime of the year.

Ingredients
2 cans of tuna
300 g pasta of choice
1 onion fine diced
pinch of dried thyme
1 tsp Dijon mustard
4 tbsp butter
2 heaped tbsp flour
300 ml milk
100 ml cream optional
Breadcrumbs
cheese of choice
salt
pepper
fresh parsley
NOTE: I made mine slightly too dry ! More sauce is the way to go

❤wow I grew up with dish. My dad would make it for us. Sweet memories ❤
I improvised on this adding peas, tinned corn, chopped capsicums, sliced mushrooms, spring onions. What I loved was the idea of a mornay sauce with chopped onion and thyme base. Used fresh thyme from the garden and it added a beautiful nuance to the dish. Didnt bother to bake it just served it up straight out of the pan with salad. Was light, flavoursome and delicious. Thanks for the inspiration Rik.

I would make a thinner sauce as creamy sauce dries up quickly by the pasta

Did you ever try my method for white sauce? Corn flour, butter and milk (plus whatever else you want)? Dissolve the corn flour in the milk and simply heat? No need for a roux and never gets lumps? When I make tuna mornay I use the brine from the tuna in the liquid to cook the pasta, yeah mate I know I’m a cheapskate but it does add flavour to the pasta too. Cheers
Rick, any chance you can do a Salisbury Steak if you haven't? I have a recipe, which is good, but I feel it's kinda lacking in punch.
