Is Vaping Really That Bad for You? 🧐

- Is vaping bad for you, or is it a safer alternative to smoking cigarettes?
Well, smoking any substance isn't going to be healthy for you, but there are studies conducted by the Royal College of Physicians that show that e-cigarettes available today are unlikely to exceed 5% of the harm from smoking tobacco.
Source:
www.rcplondon.ac.uk/projects/...
Also, there is a new study as of January 2019 conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine. The study shows that for people trying to quit tobacco, switching to e-cigarettes was nearly TWICE as effective as using other forms of Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

In this video we discussed some alarming studies that show that rates of #vaping in teens has almost doubled since 2018. We also covered a study that shows that the flavoring has been shown to kill epithelial cells which are cells that line the inside of the mouth.
The rise of teens smoking e-cigarettes has been alarming, especially because many of these kids are not using their vapes to quit smoking tobacco, they are following a trend.
We all know that smoking is not good for you. However, if you are trying to quit smoking cigarettes it can be a much healthier option for those people.

Vaping is how I quit a long term smoking addiction that was causing me health issues. I noticed I was getting numbness in my toes and legs, I thought it had to be the smoking I’m too young for it to anything else. I am now 1 year free from consistent active cigarette use. I have smoked a few here or there and won’t punish myself for slip ups. But vaping helped me quit, I was smoking a pack a day(sometimes more) for years
And if anyone is curious, the numbness went away, my circulation improved dramatically just from quitting cigarettes

The damage to the mouth tissue is more likely from lack of hydration; the non-active chemicals that create the "vapor" are hygroscopic (absorb water), so dry the mouth out - which is bad. The constriction of blood vessels is definitely due to the nicotine, but is around the same as caffeine in both this and in arteriosclerosis
I don’t know anything about vapes, but when I drink black coffee, it makes my mouth feel a little dry. So if the nicotine is similar, then it’s probably both effects combined.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. This doctor is one i actually trust, he trys and tests out things before he judges or try to give you a whole lecture
Instead of condemning one side, man actually accepted it and gave a fair argument.
Idk, I think there's still more to be said like the fact that vapes can be more addictive and you can get a massive cognitive reliant on nicotine if you're not careful on what vape you buy and how much nicotine is in each puff. Like if you smoke the exact same amount say the same amount of puffs then clearly it's safer but idk just seen people just sit on it like a IV because they got a vape from china that had an extraordinarily high dosage. And this constant use I don't think has been sturdy enough so just keep that in mind just something I found while researching, if you use a vape like people smoke a cigarette then this doesn't apply but if your the person who sits and doom scrolls and vapes then I not sure that better then smoking, most people can't smoke as much as vape, It's a switch in your brain and the more you press it with nicotine the less you can press it yourself. Which I heard on the academic grapevine that can lead to things like ADHD, just speculation though. All this research is new because vaping has recently become wide spread so more data still to come out in the next 20 years and it's my belief that we might regret even suggesting it because of the things I've mentioned. But who knows, predictions or almost never right.

@@stanwbakerI believe that about the advertising. But just from personal experience. So anecdotal but people who vape have a constant wet cough and are sick often with respiratory illness. So while I think cigarettes poison you for long term health. I don’t think they harm you as much short term.
Plus you need studies on things like accessibility. I could see a vape-er inhaling a much larger amount daily than Smokers. It’s much more readily available. If you’re smoking something 5% as harmful as the other thing but smoke it 2x 3x 4x 5x times more frequently?

I was working outdoors when vaping first became really popular. Guys I worked with went from smoking 1/2 a pack per day to vaping pretty much straight through the day. It was still probably a reduction in harm, but that's something to consider.
Props for actually updating and clarifying your stance based on new information. I wish more people on social media had your integrity.
Few years ago When the vape first got popular In the usa the tobacco company spent millions of dollars on ad campaign exaggerating the harm of the vape cigarettes thru the local news even they started giving fines on few brand that got really popular and they ban some all in the name of harmful for you as if they actually care about our health lol but yeah that was crazy the way they literally had a whole news crew's go to ppl who gotten sick and they was using vape and for some related or unrealted issue they had to go to the hospital and it was few guys nation wide which if you compared it to cigarettes its ridiculously much lower Risk but to exaggerate shit they had them do interviews same guy on few different local and natiowide news channels.. They wanted to make sure people stay smoking regular cigarettes bcz the tobacco companies pay so much taxes and they didn't want that tax revenue gone.. This world is crazy

To me this seems like common sense. I’ve been saying it for years. But I’m glad that there are studies to back it up. My main issue with vaping for me was that I ended up vaping way more than smoking just because vaping is so much more convenient and inconspicuous
That makes sense. Most tissue damage is from the heat, smoke, and tar. Vapes only have heat

Smoking isn't 100% bad. I've considered trying it because it purportedly has huge benefits regarding IBS. Nothing is 100% bad.
The problem is kids vaping. It should be used as a smoking cessation tool, not as a whole new addiction. We'll eventually need Vaping cessation tools at this rate.
Smoked a pack a day for 4 years after highschool. I began to develop early onset adult asthma. After quitting cigs and trying out vapes, within two weeks my adult asthma symptoms had disappeared, or at least kept at bay. Since quitting I was given an inhaler just in case there was a flare up, never used it once after switching to vaping. Vaping is not healthy for you, but the damage it does doesn’t come close to that of a cig. I’ve been cig free since 2023 and hoping to be vape free by the end of 2024

Oh Dr. Joseph! That vape in your hand is just 🔥
I used to work in a vape shop and also in a lab producing vape juices. We always made it very clear that vaping is about harm REDUCTION, not prevention. It also allows you far greater control over your nicotine consumption as you can lower the dosage over time. Not only did I use vaping to quit smoking, but so did my parents. They smoked for thirty years, and now none of us have consumed nicotine in any form in over 5 years.
Congratulations!
and honestly that's what it should be used for, to ween yourself off of nictotine. Congrats on the 5 years I'm almost there myself!
The downside being, you can also put a lot more nicotine than in a regular cigarette.
Proud of you for the five years! What an accomplishment.
