Hey Chris! As I asked in the full episode: What about directly vaporizing dry cannabis herb with heat (not extracts), either from conduction or convection (so, no other chemicals involved, and without combustion: carbon dioxide)? It would be awesome if Andrew and you also talk about this route of administration. Perhaps in a quick video-call clip? 😉
Does the code still work on top with the subscriber discount of 20$? it says "Unable to find a valid discount matching the code entered" when I enter the code MODERNWISDOM in the discount code section.

Hi
I vaped for the first time two weeks ago. Bought a vaping device , put liquid in that contained small amounts of nicotine.
After vaping my throat started to feel sore. I then developed throat inflammation / infection, and with catarrh gathering in the throat. 2 weeks later i still have the throat soreness.
Anyone know why that is and why it happened ? I didnt vape heavily
Quit vaping(MJ) and alcohol 3 months ago cold turkey, at 31yo, felt ashamed of doing damage to my one and only body, but enough is enough. Combined with regular exercise I have never felt better and have never slept better, it's amazing, like a another level of life unlocked.
How did you get over nicotine withdrawals? I’m a recovering alcoholic (3.5 years) and quit all drugs. I run an average of 8 miles a day. But I can’t quit vaping. I’ve tried several times but anytime I’ve tried, the withdrawals turn me into a raging asshole to the point where I almost can’t control it. The last time I tried it really screwed with my relationship. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I did the same a little over 2 months ago. Withdrawals are nothing. Almost entirely mental. Once you make a decision to quit and stick with the decision, only you can stop yourself.
Shocking
@@Dapryor Should clarify, I was vaping weed on the regular, have never touched nicotine/cigarettes because at least for cigs they smell disgusting and there's rat poison in them, they just smell nasty. With cigs I was a pretty light smoker, 3-5 per day. When I switched to vaping, I would draw on it all day long, never going more than 15 minutes or so without a few puffs. When I started going into the bathroom at work several times a day to get a hit, I felt ridiculous and knew it had to stop. Vaping is SO much more addictive because of its accessibility. When I quit I was completely blown away by how calm I felt, unaware of the constant state of anxiety that nicotine kept me in. Like I was back to being myself.
I’ve noticed this with a lot of friends who switched from smoking to vaping.
True. Before quitting vaping I was contemplating just going back to a few cigs a day. Kinda seemed like a healthier alternative to vaping every living hour of the day lol
Very interesting
I'm going through that exact same thing right now. Puffing a vape every 15 mins, go crazy without one. Ducking off to the toilets no matter where I am to get a puff, i's nasty shit
I started having genuine panic attacks. I finally linked it directly to vaping. I've been off them for 20 days today. I haven't had any anxiety or panic attacks since I quit. No more headaches too. Pretty insane I felt the addiction was worth more than how awful it made me feel
On my third attempt, I am now one month nicotine free today and no longer feel the weight of the addiction that is just a mind game and once I realized that, I became so embarrassed and felt disgusted with every cigarette I smoked. I know so many that switched to vaping and became more hooked. I feel the difference in my breathing, exercise is more enjoyable, my skin is clearer and my teeth are whiter. Every time I interact with a smoker/vaper or walk by one, I feel so proud. I did it.
Way to go,
Yep you’re right it’s all in your mind now. The physical addiction you beat so great job and don’t you dare go back! You made it this far and just think you added back at least 10+ years of your life you could have lost from that addiction. Stay strong !
Congrats brother. I just beat my addiction as well, 3 weeks smoke free(no nicotine replacement therapy either, nothing). I vaped heavily for a year, and actually stopped Vaping and smoked cigarettes for 3 months before I quit.
Imo, Vaping is way more addictive then cigarettes. I tried quitting Vape cold Turkey and couldn’t bro. That’s why I used cigarettes to get off. Vaping in my opinion is worse for the brain, a lot worse than cigarettes. Heavily concentrated doses of nicotine is NOT good for the brain. I remember times after taking fat vapes thinking to myself, this is not good for my brain, I’m either permanently or temporarily damaging my mind.
Luckily my addiction was only for 1 year, so I’m praying I didn’t cause any permanent damage to my brain. I don’t think I did, I’ve been clean for 3 weeks now and I feel back to my old self. Haven’t felt these levels of mental clarity and ambition in awhile and I’m so fckin happy. Vaping especially robbed me of my motivation and ambition, shits terrible.
Again, I’m proud of you for quitting brother! It’s amazing to read others peoples comments who have quit and are experiencing the same benefits as me. Stay up fam

When are we gonna talk about how CZcams and podcasts have effected our dopamine levels in the context of addiction. I’ve wasted hours watching podcasts on how to be “healthy” and “optimal”. I feel like it leads you down a toxic path of perfection that is unattainable. It seems like all of us have forgotten how to be present in the moment without optimizing every little thing.

For those struggling with nicotine addiction, I haven't found a better way to kick it than to become obsessed with something that doesn't allow you to smoke. I used to smoke and vape. I got into jumping rope (boxer style) for fitness followed by long-distance running. Now, if I thought about bumming a smoke from a buddy, I know that my running the next morning-something that is normally a pleasurable experience-would be miserable. Sometimes, these things can provide just enough distance between craving and response to give us the space to make better decisions.
I had smoked for about 15 years, and switched to nicotine gum for about 5 years without ever being able to stop. I switched to vaping, and was able to gradually taper myself off of nicotine by mixing the juice myself, and after vaping flavored juice with no nicotine for a month I was able to quit entirely. You will also find that the British Health System relies on vaping to reduce and quit smoking.
I was a smoker for 16 years. Back in my late teens and early twenties. I was in the military. We ran Mondays,Wednesdays and Fridays. Between 2-10 miles depending on who was leading the troop. I was a heavy smoker 1-11/2 packs a day. I also ran with a chew of red man in my cheek. Still alive now 60+. I quit smoking and chewing in 93.
I quit vaping just days after I got back into collecting and selling Pokemon. Without even meaning to! Like you said, I found something else that can be "addictive" but in a beneficial way.
I had a vaping phase. At first, a friend has it so you end up trying it. You think nothing of it, but next thing you know you're buying your own. What makes it so terrible is how easy it is. Eventually, you're fidgeting to take another puff every 10 seconds. I quit because I hated myself for the habit.
Good on you man! It is hard, I've been there
I made the mistake of buying my own and got HOOKED. Nicotine was hard af to kick.

Quite honestly one of the best decisions of my entire life.
Having a clear mind; a clear sense of one self there’s nothing like it.
Depending on myself to take care of problems rather than relying on an escape that’ll just create more health problems later on it’s just not worth it.
I started vaping casually like a year and a half ago, hitting coworkers vapes a bit while at work. That morphed into consistently hitting friends' vapes while they were around and that then morphed into me finally buying a disposable vape for the first time about 6 weeks ago or so. As of November 1st however, the sale of flavored vape products has been banned where I live and honestly I'm quite happy about it. I was set to keep on buying those disposables as long as they were available. I never had a history of smoking before I ever touched a vape besides a few cigarettes (and not counting weed).
I remember when they banned methanol cigarettes and honestly I was so annoyed but that turned out to be the best thing they did. I don’t think I could have stopped if they didn’t ban them

28, I've been battling nicotine addiction with cigarettes but mostly vaping (juul, disposables) for over 14 years. I've quit for 8 months and then started vaping again for 4 months. I'm recently 90 days nicotine free again. It is such an evil battle that convinces me to indulge for a 4 second minor morning buzz that I chase the rest of the day which never comes due to the frequency in which I vape. What's crazy is that after extended periods of quitting it actually takes 'work' to get back into it because my body has healed so much. This last relapse was over a week of heavy coughing after each hit and not enjoying any part of it, yet I still continued and got addicted again. Thank you for this video
never related to anything more lol. The morning buzz that lasts for 5 seconds followed by puffing on it the rest of the day chasing the same feeling that will never come again until next morning

From someone who smoked for well over 30 years here is my assessment. I was a heavy smoker, 2+ packs a day. I was at the point for probably a decade where my breathing was short, people knew when I was around by my cough and in the mornings i would cough 💩 up sometimes to the point of puking. I transitioned from smoking to vaping, I was a dual smoker/vaper for some time and eventually put the cigs away. For me, I can tell you I feel 100 times better, dont cough, not short of breath and just feel better overall. With that being said I dont know what the long term effects hold for my future. I was a social smoker for quite a few years and never once felt addicted. I’d only smoke when a drank a few throughout the night. I stopped for years. A few years ago I tried vaping and let me tell you it’s 100 times more addictive. I found myself wanting it ALL the time. Had to work really hard to quit and even now even I drink I want it.
Agreed. Over the years I’ve been a social smoker at times and never thought about going out to buy cigarettes on my own, but with vaping being so much more discreet it’s really easy for it to get its hooks in you. I never wanted to smell like cigarettes so I didn’t buy them, but I started buying vapes and just stepping into a restroom or around a corner to hit them everywhere I went. Once you quit for a while you realize how silly the addiction is, but man it really takes you for a ride
Why can’t you just have it when you drink like you do with cigs
It’s really about your intention, addiction is an attempt to escape some form of suffering, the best thing you can do is face your issues and suffering

i think caffeine is the one drug i could never give up, I love my breakfast tea and coffee too much. Fair play though
Another reason podcasts can have the same guests and not lose views is because subject matters are more complex than a few minutes of discussion can cover, that people aren't as dumb as the media would have us believe. People have a genuine curiosty about everything and nuance is not lost on them.
Or maybe there are tens of millions of people who devour this kind of content, and a lot of dumb people. I'm a crossover: I'm dumb _and_ love this content :)

something to consider: I vaped way more nicotine than I smoked. The detriment nicotine withdrawal had on my sleep - particularly with regards to sleep fragmentation or disruptions - was something I only realized when I switched to patches and kept them on at night. My sleep improved so much and was worse when I vaped vs smoking cigs. This week I went from a 7mg patch to 1mg a day of silver malboros. Definitely less healthy, but these companies don't make patches smaller and most are not cuttable (it's almost like they want you to stay addicted).

I'm honestly interested in seeing the citations for a number of his statements. I know a lot of the negative Health reports regarding vaping had to do with black market made THC vape cartridges w Vit E acetate. Quite a few people including myself use high quality ingredient and regulated nicotine juice. In general it sounds like he's referring to the worst of the worst and combining them all under one umbrella. I'm sure it's not great for health and if it's very minimal like the European Union study said then I'm fine with it for now
Whatever justifies it for you. Just don’t cry when you come down with a disease from it.
@RoRo-gn9pv harsh dude. I like seeing citations and learning. That's literally what my statement was about above. I've actually been tracking the studies that come out. And again, I don't claim that it improves health and in line with all the solid research I've seen so far especially if you rule out the vitamin E acetate the risks look to be very minimal, if thats the case Ill keep using. Especially if you're a person that uses quality and regulated juice.
ye but he was talking about chemicals crossing the blood brain barrier. This THC and Vit E thing is assosiacted with these things in your lung, and even if it does more damage, this should be the first thing mentioned imo, but he didnt. Still, leaving out Sucralose, Acetoin and colorant is already a great reduction in risk, so Im also curious what he was refering to exactly. And if you only vape the base+nicotin it should be basically harmless.
@@TheUnrider gave me the ick when he talked about "this and that crosses blood-brain barrier, introduces so many toxins into your body, etc. etc.". How about naming specifically what you are talking about? There's so many variables in vaping, that it's already hard enough to do studies (like 15W mouth-to-lung vs. 200W direct-to-lung as an example). Sounds more like fear-mongering to me instead of the usual factual research he's citing.
The only people who defend these smoking vaping habits and "I want specifics" are addicts. Whatever you want to tell yourself about "it's not that bad" it's your addiction speaking. At least most people know that it's really bad and just admit the can't quit because they're completely addicted and don't care about negatives. But then there's you bunch that just "give me details why it bad, or it means its totally justified cus I'm so smart because there's no proper studies YET".cigaretes were recommended by doctors even to children. But I did whatever I could to stop smoking.
I also thought if my sister who was more addicted then me could quit I could too.
And it is really truly worth it!!!
I smoked for 16 years before quitting.
I went 11 months and never felt better, however alcohol can be a slippery slope, especially if your surrounded by smokers/vapers. I relapse after my first drinking session, there’s something about vaping while drinking that makes me feel on top of the world. Of course that never ends well. Work stress caused me to relapse a second time, I need to find other ways to cope with stress
I remember being in 4th grade elementary and we were hands on with a pig lung that was fresh, then another that was black from smoking.
That’s still engraved in my head today
The only benefit I can see from my past nicotine addiction (cigarettes then vaping) is that I can now better detect when I'm becoming addicted to something. My phone, a certain behavior, the ability to get drawn into something with a net negative-these all feel like when I craved a cig or a rip on a vape pen. That doesn't mean I don't regret those years of addiction, but it is an interesting silver lining to years of bodily damage.
My paternal grandfather smoked tobacco and lived to 99. My dad smoked cigarettes at a teen and quit in his 50s. He is in his mid70s. I hate smoking.
Had bad withdrawals from vapes last year. Quit them on new year, only bought 2 this year (when drunk) so much better without them, bank balance and health
what has struck me most is the amount of vaping people now do. They smoked far less cigarettes in comparison to how much people vape. I would be interested to see the data in several years down the line.
Smoked cigarettes for seven years. Been vaping for about four. The comparisons aren't even close. Cigarettes you could just see and feel how unhealthy they are. It's better not to do it and be dependent on it, sure, but anyone with actual long term experience smoking cigarettes in comparison knows it's not even close.
100% agree. I would only "recommend" vaping to people who just cannot seem to kick the cigs. It's obviously still not healthy, but I feel miles healthier and especially I can breathe better.
while i agree with how cigarettes “feel”, i started rolling my own with loose tobacco and for me, it’s better than both boxed cigs and vaping
smoked a ‘normal’ cig a month after i switched to rolling and it felt like smoking 100% chemicals; vaping makes my mouth feel like it’s laced with metal
self-rolled cigs take 1/3 of the time to smoke, don’t feel as nasty, and the whole process disincentivizes smoking. lmao
so i’d argue that it’s a slightly better bridge between smoking and not smoking compared to vaping, but again that’s just my experience
Yep this is what annoys me. We are watching a legion of people who are NOT involved with this try to take down one of the most successful smoking cessation methods to EVER exist.

And If it does get banned. Guess who wins? Big Tobacco.
Has anyone ever wondered how the importation of MILLIONS of *Illegal* Chinese vapes even makes it into the country in the first place?
Bit weird that border patrol just closes up shop on those days dont you think?
Nah no one thinks. Just braindead lobby against vaping because thats what the hivemind is doing atm.
Nothing beats addicts justifying the type of poison they can't quit. At least some of you admit they're idiots for starting to smoke. I’ve just quit smoking myself been smoking on and off for over a decade, tried vaping a couple times didn’t enjoy it because I was vaping more than I was smoking and i didn’t have an off switch when I was vaping but I had an off switch with smoking. I don’t mind the odd cigar maybe a couple of times a year but smoking and vaping not a chance in hell.
Zero distinction between freebase and salt nicotine. Gigantic difference in ingredients, temperature and nicotine dosage.
Zero distinction between Chinese vapes and real vapes.
I expect so much more from Huberman. Just lost all credibility in my eyes.
@@youtubedeletedmynamewhybother Perhaps on this one singular issue, yes. I think I can forgive him for not being on the cutting edge of vape science. There's really not a ton of studies to go on especially not in North America. The Royal College of Physicians conducted a 10 year double blind study claiming freebase vaping was 99.5% safer than cigarettes, but it really doesn't matter much. Most ways to access freebase nicotine vaping (making juice to order on location, building coils by hand with materials known to be safe and not covered in chemicals) were made explicitly illegal because of the teen vaping scare. Juul really did ruin it for everyone.
Quit vaping cold turkey a month ago, I feel a literal veil off my eyes has been lifted, everything flows clearer in my mind and my performance in the gym is much increased. My libido as well has had a boost. To be honest, cigarettes felt less harmful… WAKE UP
I quit vaping and am now on a lower mg nicotine gum. The amount of nicotine you intake with a vape is much more than most realize as people puff on it all day long. I know I would when I vaped. Since quitting, my anxiety has also improved

@redweyes1733 ikr lmao, but hey at least the gum doesn't affect our precious lungs!
I've been vaping for maybe 15 years. I used to smoke 20 Lambert and Butlers a day and always had colds, coughs etc. I smoke the Vape 88 liquids and they seem fine to me honestly. When I switched from smoking to vaping my lungs cleared themselves out and I very rarely get ill now. Maybe once every 3 years or so. I can go months without exercise and get on a treadmill / out on the road and can run 5k without too much bother honestly.
The fact is, like he said, we just don't know. No risk, no story I guess.
What's being delivered versus mechanism of delivery are two different subjects of study, so you're correct.
almost two years without vaping. took an incredible amount of tries but just never stopped trying. never go back
One thing to get clear is nicotine doesn’t relieve stress, it in fact causes it. Someone who puts nicotine into the body will immediately start withdrawing which can often feel very similar to stress (especially after a period of abstinence) And when you get this, you think “what can help this?, a vape / cigarette!” And immediately feel better. But all you’ve actually done is relived the nicotine withdrawal caused by the previous dose. So far from reliving stress, nicotine causes it. Its like wearing tight shoes for 4 hours to enjoy the relief of taking them off..It’s also a stimulant. Surely to feel more calm you want to lower the heart rate, not increase it! Smoking (or any form of nicotine) is an illusion, like any other drug out there. Unfortunately people fall into this trap exactly like a heroin addict would with heroin. We know it does nothing for them but they believe it does. Just like a non-smoker looks at a smoker.
quitting cigarettes was the hardest thing I've ever done but i would not of been able to do it without vaping and now this year am vape free also there is an good reason to use these
I have fainted multiple times since I started vaping and I am constantly nauseous, tired, anxious and depressed. Despite all of this, quitting was not an option for me. It is my crutch and my vice. I wasn’t ready to quit, however I have finally arrived at a place where I am committed to quitting. Currently going through withdrawals and wanting to vape is consuming my mind. Hoping it subsides soon. Pray for me lol
your probaly smoking a shit ton of nicrotine then, im vaping 0 nicotine and im never addicted to it, ive even went entire 2 years without vaping on nicotine
I quit cigs for vaping four years ago, I was two packs a day, for months I was coughing up black gunk and chunks, now I feel better then I did twenty years ago, can’t stop vaping though haha
I haven’t listened to the full podcast, but do they actually talk about why smokers smoke? I often find that people who have consciously wrestled with the risks and stigmas of smoking, continue to do so for all sorts of unique reasons. Maybe it’s the nicotine coursing through their veins, but still fascinating and even inspiring at times. A big middle finger to “optimization”
To me it seems in most people's cases, it's not them actively rejecting "optimization" of themselves as humans. Its more the lack of will, or the giving in to our animalistic behaviors, its depression, deep unhappiness with life. Or maybe im revealing my own psychology a bit
There are lot of lies smokers tell themselves about why they keep smoking. A lot of it is just the addiction talking. We can create some pretty compelling fiction if it keeps the monkey fed. That said, I've been addicted to cigarettes, vapes, and gum at different times in my life. Gum and vapes were only every about the nicotine. But there is something else with cigs. I've never fantasized about having a gum and a whiskey around a campfire, nor a puff on the vape at sunrise with a hot coffee. But both of those will probably always sound enjoyable to me with a cig.
I vaped cannibis for the first time for about 1 month this year. I have become aware of cognitive changes in memory and focus since. I did not make the association with vaping. Now, I wonder if these issues are reversible.
Do not worry, they are very much reversible. Diet and fitness my friend. Diet and fitness.
Its because u smoked weed bro... Memory loss is one of the main side effects.
Dont start conflating that with vaping for fu cks sake. People are so lost in the sauce.
That's the THC effects you have short term memory loss and focus but food tastes amazing and sex is amazing in moderation however.....
Since I dialled in my diet and lifestyle choices I've not had any issues with short term memory and cannabis. I think it is indicative of some sort of bottleneck or metabolic dysfunction
@@Dan-hn1lx I'd used cannibis (flower) long term and know the effects of THC on me. This is completely different. Like dementia level issues.
Curious on whether there's any distinction between the various types of vape devices out there. Obviously, I'm not saying that any of them are good, but whether there are types that are worse than others. For instance, a Juul type device based on salt nicotine versus the ones that are flavored juice. Kind of like, vaping is less bad than cigarettes, but are all vaping devices built the same?
I smoked for 43 years. I quit almost 5 years ago using vaping for maybe 6 months. Started forgetting it at home. Figured it was time to say no. Replacing nicotine never helped me quit. When I feel I must try one again, I do. I take one draw and think to myself yuck! How did I ever smoke this. I honestly don’t think nicotine is what I was ever addicted to. I grab a vape as well only when I’m under major stress. Then I put it down and no withdrawal ever.
It’s the ritual for me too. I have to see the smoke or the vape cloud to get any satisfaction from it.
Is the damage from vaping or the flavors added to the e-juice?
Exactly. We won't ever know because no study will be done that studies typical use cases. They will always just bring up diacetyl popcorn lung. I have had professors in premed classes say that vape juice contains antifreeze and that's why it's bad. They are teaching the next generation of medical professionals and couldn't tell you the difference between propylene glycol and ethylene glycol. THEY SOUND THE SAME SO THEY ARE.
Nobody will take a serious approach to the subject. They just want to scare people into not doing it by telling us the boogyman hides in the shadows "WE PROMISE WE ARENT LYING"
Also, "we don't know, therefore bad" is such a childish approach to a subject.
It's just as dumb as potheads saying "its all natural, it can't be good for you"
Its from the literally unknown chemicals in chinese vapes that Huberman so graciously fails to fu cking mention.
They dont even use normal cotton in Chinese vapes but nope lets not make any real distinctions. Just lump it all together and forfeit any intellectual bandwidth we might have.
This is not a very informative discussion. Some people vape cannabis and some people vape nicotine. And there are countless different vape strengths and flavours available, which all contain different blends of ingredients and chemicals and different amounts of nicotine and cannabis.. You can also vape flavourless juice containing only glycerine and nicotine, which I do.
Curious, for grass users I don’t use those cartridge vapes I just use the vaporizers that convert grass to smoke. Like the pax or davinchi. I understand my own risk but he is talking about like those disposable vapes with the liquid or wax or whatever that substance is right?
Smoked cigarettes from the age of 15-23. Started vaping recreationally at 31, quit within a year. Currently 33. The nicotine withdrawals were so much worse coming off vaping. Can also confidently say that the improvement in my health both mentally and physically was more drastic when I quit vaping as opposed to when I quit cigarettes. Granted the time age difference and what not might have influenced that though.
This is one area in which I am surprised in Huberman. It is inarguable that vaping is much preferable to smoking and the best way to quit cigarettes.
Wrong. The best way to quit cigarettes is to read a book by Allen Carr called “Easyway to Quit Smoking”.
It’s $15 which is cheaper than vaping, and there is no willpower involved.

Dr. Andrew Huberman should share his thoughts on Anabolic Steroid use in America which is unhealthy, toxic & dangerous.
I think the worst of it is yet to come. I was at drinks with a group of work mates last week and three of them were vaping who had never touched a cigarette before.
Working in the healthcare field, I still see a lot of ill effects of cigarettes but haven't seen anything from vaping yet.
So do I. Keep in mind it takes about 20 years on average for the first signs of damage to become obvious. I didn't say it takes 20 years of nicotine use to damage you, only to do enough damage to start being visible. Vapes have been around for decades but got the first patent in 2003 and only started being generally used a few years after that so we're on the cusp of those key 2 decades. And realistically even 20 years is still the beginning, you start seeing the damage exponentially with time with way more at 30 and 40 years. This sounds like a long time but if you start vaping in your teens its just enough to cut your life short. Remember tobacco users lose about 10-25 years of life expectancy with their decade or so often marked by illnesses caused by their vice. Realize that studies have already shown emphysematous changes to the lifetime vapers' only lungs even if they never smoked.
Obviously nicotine toasts your circulation with the primary cause of death and disease in this drug's users not being cancer, but cardiovascular and it isn't the tars either because pipe, cigar and oral/smokeless tobacco users (which receive greater dosages of this pesticide) having a greater degree of circulatory death and disease. They lie and say "NICOTINE HAS NEVER BEEN SHOWN TO CAUSE CANCER" but the most potent carcinogens in tobacco (or any nicotine product for that matter) are tobacco specific nitrosamines which come about as a byproduct of nicotine degradation just sitting there. So any form of nicotine is loaded with this deadly poison as well including the patches and gum. Therefore your anecdotal feeling is just because we're not yet noticing and tying 2 and 2 together but based on what we already know about nicotine itself and the dynamics of introducing this poison in your body it is extremely likely in the coming 3-5 years there will be some big studies coming out about the harms of vaping as well..
Key word here is YET 4:36
@@Pablophd1965 if we are expecting to see the same or similar effects as tobacco, i do not think we will see much. I want to know which chemical in vape liquid is the culprit and some further details.
I would really love for content creators around these topics to make a unbiased talk about the effects of, for example vaping, but also give an explanation about how our body handles these substances, and how it rebounds post usage.
So much of the content is "this is bad because I say so and I have this degree/phd/title so you should believe me"
Im not saying Andrew Huberman isn't far more qualified than myself to make judgements on topics such as nicotine vaping, but all I heard here was "we are inhaling these chemicals into our lungs" yet everyone whos been taught anything about cigarette smoking is is the timeline of how our bodies repair after quitting. Our bodies have the ability to repair themselves, but that point is often over looked.
Taking one hit isn't doing permanent, irreversible damage. Smoking weed isn't doing that either. Abusing any substance, or abusing anything (video games) is inherently bad, but simply saying "this is bad" and not properly educating people on why its bad and where the effects are felt the most, and how to go about managing them or using in moderation is simply unproductive.
Totally agree......trying to "educate" or "motivate" people courtesy of one's academic authority (or hubris) is tantamount to how religious priests and clerics behave. I.E "You should refrain from this thing because somebody smarter and more powerful than you (god, Jesus, Allah etc) .....doesn't LIKE this habit and considers it a sin...." These kind of invocations mean JACK to sooo many people because they remove authority, ownership and responsibility from the individual and instead try to employ a kind of "second hand" sense of obligation which not only doesn't work....it (quite rightly) makes many people rebel against this kind of "motivational" model.....because deep down, they KNOW it's just one big croc of sh*t.....even if the advice being given is wise and sound. People MUST be treated as having personal ownership before you try to motivate them, and if you try to "cheat code" that.....well.....good luck reaching your target audience!!
Well said! No one is going to be convinced to give up all their vices for the sake of health, because there is so much anecdotal evidence of people using certain substances, and living healthy lives (on the more mild side of substances) and even people who abuse harder substances, get clean, and live healthy lives.
Keep the "this is what this substance does to your body" but follow up with "this is how our body fights its and how it can be managed/balanced/reversed." @@donnietobasco9791

I have enjoyed nicotine for the last 2 years but watching this vid and hearing 'blood brain barrier' 3 weeks ago drew an absolute line in the sand for me. I was not a heavy user but was an every day user. I dealt with mood issues and headaches for the first 2 days after quitting but then was golden. I use sunflower seeds to fulfill the oral fixation. Also, cut back on tequila shots from 10-15 per week (2-3 days) to a max of 5 in a week (1 day). Feeling great!

I haven't vaped in 6 months after quitting cold turkey. I haven't had the desire to inhale nicotine for the whole 6 month period until college started becoming stressful recently. I haven't bought a disposable vape but I am literally battling the urge every day. I don't know how the urge arose all of a sudden.
Stay strong brother
If it gets to that point, get some gum, its how I quit in the past
the cravings are always going to come back, at one point or another. i've started smoking cigarettes at the age of 16 and i am currently 35. i've quit so many times, for a few weeks, or months, and even for a year once. but i've always relapsed when life got too stressful. i've only started vaping like 4 months ago, it made me totally quit smoking cigarettes, i think they're disgusting now. but the issue with vaping is that i feel if i stop now (which i want to do, hence me watching this video and reading the comments, trying to motivate myself), anytime life would get hard it will be so easy to fall back again, and harder and faster than ever, because there won't even be that nasty taste and smell that you need to get used to again with cigarettes. anyway, what i'm trying to say is: you've already done the hardest part, 6 months is a great achievement, try to understand why you need to smoke again (when do you get the urges? is it to focus more for school? or maybe stress before exams?) and find some other way to de-stress or boost your intellectual faculties (or whatever you actually need) than this very unhealthy habit/crutch

@@TicTacTowmusic I've quit drinking 3 weeks ago too, but smoking is a bit harder for me to deal with. My last disposable vape is starting to get low on liquid and I'm already stressing out about it even if I had decided to quit when it would be out of juice. I've ordered some ashwagandha today, I don't know if that's going to help, but i guess reducing my stress levels should do the trick. I've tried a nicotine patch once, it didn't do anything for me, but maybe it works for other people. I personally believe in quitting cold turkey and just using some healthier way of relaxing rather than still have nicotine in my bloodstream (which will inevitably lead me to craving a higher dosage). Addiction is personal. Like how the emerging, new medical model of care is:
Individualized, vs the old ‘cookie cutter’ model. My addictiveness quotient is unique to me. I can be a social smoker but I don’t smoke regularly nor get hooked on it. Same with alcohol but have sober friends who cannot ever drink again. Some ppl become stoners; not all. Coffee? meh. Ditto for processed foods but gotta be careful of sweets. My own physiological weakness is stimulants. Yet I have friends that prefer sedating substances and a portion of them realize they have to stay away opioids. Make me sick. Some ppl are ‘addicted’ to nootropics & supplements, convinced of their powerful, life-changing qualities. Even the concept of ‘addiction’ has come under review in the past 2 decades. With strong opinions on this vid, some people are going to take it as expert advice, and repeat it as truth and pretty soon another cultural falsehood will take hold. Never forget that ‘drapetomania” - slaves running away from their bondage - was once deemed a real medical condition. Same as 19th C female hysteria. WWII military were issued amphetamines. “Reefer Madness” fostered racism. History makes fools of our beliefs, esp. when we toss out the benefits of critical thinking and skepticism being the hallmark of good science. Oh, forgot about internet addiction. What will future ‘experts’ say about this one?
All the snus pouches contain maltitol and other additives, vaping VG and PG can dry the lungs as its hygroscopic, and patches cost an absolute fortune. We need a consumer viable, cost effective nicotine administration method for those who want to use nicotine.

I was a heavy smoker for 32 years. I quit a few times, once for almost 5 years, and was miserable, I just never got over the “urge”. Almost immediately I could go up and down the stairs, and play basketball and ride a bike without being out of breath. I get unflavored with a low nicotine content. The nicotine “hit” is nice but for me it’s always been more about the ritual of holding it and puffing the “smoke”. I wish I’d never smoked but I did and at my age I’m going to continue vaping.

Wasn’t there a research that supports vaping is 95% less dangerous then cigarettes. I don’t know how you view injecting nicotine as being more healthy than vaping.
Nicotine as a substance has never been specifically bad (or good). It has its own advantageous and deleterious effects depending on why you use it. The main difference between smoking and vaping as nicotine delivery systems is you are simply swapping one cluster of toxic chemicals and additives for another, less understood and potentially just as (if not more) harmful cocktail of chemicals. Injecting pure nicotine could be reasoned to be better by someone in need of their fix. Vaping is far more addictive than smoking for me, not just for ease of use, but you get massive concentrations of nicotine instantly. Regardless, nicotine or any sort of self-"medication" belies a deeper indication of poor health, whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual.
No there weren't. That's just marketing. They say it's better because it's not smoking, but it basically is smoking anyway.
Burning anything is gonna produce shitloads of nasty chemicals. Injecting pure nicotine would get you nicotine without coating your lungs with freaky synthetic oil smoke. Nicotine itself isn't so dangerous compared to all the other chemicals that most people take in by smoking or vaping
Injection bypasses any lung damage but vaping being 95% safer than smoking definitely should have been explored

The only thing that changed was I quit vaping. My performance should have dropped due to lack of practice, it improved dramatically, I really didn't expect anything so dramatic from vaping.
I did kratom for over a year and half and man was it gnarly getting off of it, I couldn’t sleep for 3 days, constantly uncomfortable. Don’t get started on kratom it will mess you up if you take it long term.
It's rediculous that somehow vaping has become more stigmatized than all out smoking which is much much worse
It’s not ridiculous. Both are terrible. Get over it.

Chinese disposable vapes are RUINING the publics perception and RUINING vaping for people who actually need it. @@RolandKoller90
I hate both. Don't do either. What pisses me off is people pretend theyre smarter and beating their addictionby vaping lol.
@@laius6047 Oh no, people are picking a healthier option while still getting the benefits of their drug of choice. Call the fucking inquisition!
I’m not trying to say vaping is safe but I have done fairly heavily for years and get up at 4am 5 times a week and run 3 miles with no real issues so far.
I’m 24 and old been vaping for 6-7 years and this shit is so hard to quit. It becomes an instinct bc it’s so easy to hit. And it is very expensive. I also feel horrible working out then hours later hitting my vape. I tried quitting but it’s so goddamn hard. I believe that it’s mind over matter but you need to have STRONG will
