My father was diagnosed with early stage skin cancer at 24 before I was born. He was able to seek treatment and was in remission for another almost 20 years. His cancer came back as melanoma when I was around 12, and within two years spread to his brain and killed him. I can’t describe the helplessness I felt as I slowly watched my father deteriorate. Rest in peace Dad. I miss you.

In 1980 I had developed a black mole on my stomach that was growing and the psychiatrist I was working for said I had melanoma and needed biopsy. The diagnosis was malignant melanoma on my abdominal wall. Doctor told me it was was very unlikely I would survive it and as I drove home alone my body shook uncontrollably. I was 22 years old. I remained home from work for 3 days and just lay in bed visualizing non stop the poison cancer leaving my body flushing out and following my surgery the surgeon told me he removed all the cancer and I didn’t even need radiation. I have a very deep large square around abdomen and every day I’m grateful to be here. Since the melanoma, I have had 7 skin cancer surgeries basel cell and squamous and had another biopsy today on a new red spot of 5 months. I was the kid at the beach applying all baby oil and no sunscreen, piles of blisters from sunburn etc and this is the consequence. I hope everyone reading this will get to dermatologist annually for a full check (earlier If red spot that doesn’t heal in months, or new mole growth) and wear a hat and sunscreen. Keep safe 🙏

My mom had breast cancer and she told me she noticed a small lump under the right side of her breasts. So we went to the doctor, who told us she had breast cancer, and it was just at its beginning. My mom got it removed, but they also had to remove her breasts entirely, and also the lymph node in the right armpit. The surgeon ended up accidentally shifting the lymph nodes on the left side so now my mom doesn't sweat in that area anymore. but more important, the cancer is gone

My dad died in 2015 from metastatic melanoma to the brain. In 2010 he had a lesion on his scalp removed and for 5 years we thought everything was fine. Then he suddenly started to deteriorate and was dead within 3 weeks of us noticing his outward symptoms. The day he died, they did another scan. I refused to leave and watched the scan from the control room. As a medical professional, I knew what I was looking at... My father died of metastatic melanoma 2 months ago. He had melanoma several years ago & had what we were told was a successful mohs procedure to remove it. Fastforward to 2020 when he was supposed to have a shoulder replacement done which was cancelled due to the pandemic. In the meantime he kept up with medical appts via telemedicine mostly & in person when possible, which included an appt with his dermatologist in June 2022 where he was told all was well. However, his shoulder was really bothering him, so he rebooked his shoulder replacement to be done in fall 2022. They did a CT scan as part of pre-op testing which showed his right shoulder & humerus had something weird going on, so they did a biopsy around his 67th birthday in September: metastatic melanoma. Full body CT & PET were ordered & they showed it had metastasized down his spine, into his hips, & down into his femurs, with spots on various organs. They tried him on a couple of immunotherapies & did radiation, which slowed the cancer growth down in the bones, but the organs continued to get worse. He ended up in the hospital for fluid build up in February which took several weeks to get under control, then he was moved to at-home hospice in March. He passed in April at home which is what he wanted. It's all still very raw & I can't help but wonder what more could've been done to catch this early.

Soak the bandaid with lots of water for example in the shower. If it's not a water resistant one, it will come off on it's own without pain. Else there are anti adhesive sprays you can get from a pharmacy. Spray that on the band aid and it comes off easily too

TheCommentGuy or he could have gotten surgery and his health insurance company will say it should cost hardly anything and their ‘allowable amount’ will cover basically nothing, and then the hospital will charge 6 times what it costs to do that procedure anywhere else, and then the farmer is stuck with a massive bill even after paying thousands of dollars for his health insurance. This scenario ^ happened to my brother but with a different emergency procedure.
Of course looking back the farmer should have gone to the doctor but there’s more to it.

My dad had a patch of skin cancer on his face. He had it removed by a professional, everything was good. But only a couple years later he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had already metastasized into his bones. Within a month it was in his brain, and he ultimately died of a (his second, first was 5 years earlier) stroke that the doctors couldn’t do anything about because of the brain mets. They said his brain scan was unrecognizable from a similar one he’d had only a couple weeks ago. So much damage, so fast. God that was awful. I asked the doctors when he would regain consciousness and they said, “he won’t.” He was gone the next day. I was so relieved his body didn’t try to hang on when his mind was completely gone. But he always was very pragmatic and didn’t like to make a big fuss over himself. I loved him more than I’ll ever love anyone else on this entire planet.
I kind of just thought at the time that it was because he didn’t take care of himself, didn’t see a doctor for 20 years, lived on coffee and aspirin, never drank water etc. I’m sure that didn’t help. I know the US healthcare system is garbage but we can’t just let medical stuff go and hope for the best.

She took cancer meds, and did well, but started to develop neuro issues May 2022. Hospital by Dec 23/22. Sadly, she passed Feb 11/2023 😢❤ Please don't ignore symptoms.
