skil is a really good brand with a lot of features that the other brands don't have
Yep, I have to agree. I was surprised by what all you get with this Skil router for what it costs.
sold me ;)
Iâm happy with it, always enjoy finding a good value.
I canât believe the dust port faces forward when put into the Skil router table, making dual dust collection backwards. It should come out right by the port on the fence.
Hmmm, good point! For those of you who are serious about dust collection, the router port is a bit of an inconvenience. Since I share our garage with our vehicles, I keep everything portable and generally take tools outside the garage and onto the driveway for easy cleanup without major dust collection. I do however have collection bags for my planer and table saw and will occasionally hook up my shop vac to some tools.
@@DIYBoomers I just got a dual port system for router tables that hooks into the dust collector and Iâm looking around at videos to see if mine is backwards. Would be good if I could swap the front and back acrylic plates around, essentially moving the opening to the back side.
I donât think yours is backwards. Mine is the same. I took a quick look at mine to see if the plates could be swapped and it doesnât appear that they can. Also, the removable blank plate lets you access the lock button on the shaft for changing bits (although you could remove the motor from the base for that access). I would imagine that you could mount the router to the mounting plate so that the dust port faces the back but that would make it so the micro height adjustment mechanism would not be aligned properly as that mechanism is on the same side as the dust port and allows you to make height adjustments from on top of the table. Would it be a problem to bring the hose in from the back and wrap it around the router to attach it? The dust port is angled slightly to the left of front center when the router is mounted to the table which might help in attaching it that way.
