RJ, I just wanted to let you know this video is still helping people. I am getting ready to replace the pump on my 94 and this helps me prepare and spend less time. I also appreciate that you do your work in the great outdoors like me. 😊
Hey Rob thanks for watching and we are glad it helped you.
Yeah unfortunately not all of us can have big ole fancy shops/pole barns (that is the dream though)
So we just have to work with what area we have, which helps others see what issues they might run into when repairing stuf their selves.

Scary. I'm amazed that you didn't poke or stab yourself.
Having a similar truck that had muck in the tank from water and modern gas, let me assure you that dropping the tank is far easier and safer.
It is advised to have as little gas in the tank.
Good vid. Compliments to your camera operator. She did a good job directing you when we couldn't see.

Hi, my name is John Hall. I've got a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4 wheel drive. and I wanna. Say, thank you?. For the video, It's been about seven years since I replaced the fuel pump, but I figured it was time to review . How to put in an electric fuel pump in my truck? I'm going down to autozone and pick up my fuel pump for my vehicle today. Thank you. Thank you very much for the information, but I'm gonna do the job. The old-fashioned way drop and roll. Thank you. It was good to go over my steps to working on the truck. Keep making videos. I enjoy the video. Thank you from the great state of South Dakota

Are Jay you are one cool dude, love to have you guys for neighbors. It was great to see the family involvement during recording.
Glad to see you're working safe with jack stands & blocks. Also, anyone working with gasoline, use the brass or wood. Sparks & gas vapor = a painful death.
This is a very comprehensive video. So many other you-tubers don't show the hard parts. Well the hard parts are what us diy'ers really need to see. So thanks a million for not cutting them out.
Usually by the time I've figured out the design of the electrical connectors, they are half destroyed! Same goes for all those crazy tubing connections, i.e. fuel, ATF, etc.
And yeah for channel lock pliers for snapping them back together!
My '02 Ram is a diesel. There's not a nut or bolt on it that isn't rusted into one unit. I'm planning on cutting open the floor of bed. The bedliner will cover the hole. I really hope my pump is in the same place as yours.
P.S. I subbed. Looking forward to see what else you've posted.
Hey savage thanks, i try to cover all of the crap that can and does happen all the way so someone who has never done it can be prepared for the whole repair.

@@RJsGarages You watched my 44 vid? Full disclosure is in the description. It was April first don't ya know!
I gotta change my fuel pump on my 1500 05. I think dropping the tank is better. U did good. The plugs are always the worst thing. Great video. Thanks for ur input.
Diolectric greese is a good idea on connections keeps water out and helps ease installation
Very good video, by viewing this i have a good approach to my problem. My pump still functions - barely. So it still has to be done . At least my fuel can be removed.
Thanks

Oh man that sucked!! Lol. Mine isn't dead yet so I'll wait till it is almost empty!!
Good job!! So much simpler I bet than dropping the tank!!
It does suck, but if you plan it better and get more blocks/boards/braces before hand it should go pretty smooth.
Good luck.

The clip you depress and pull out, not pull the clip up, thats what broke it. Came right off with my hand with 25 year old oem stuff
Push the red button 😂😊
Same thing happened to me when I first learned about the clip. Also filled up my tank and drove home. Next morning truck won't start.
I have a flatbed 1/4 plate so don't wanna cut through it. Not sure if It will come apart the same as this.
Yes, it is always an adventure, working on these old girls.
That sounds like a rough repair with all that weight. Make sure you have a strong helper near buy just to be safe.

Good vid, Jay. Thank you! Nice job. I'm currently haveing a problem with my sending unit but, I'd certainly replace the pump while I'm at it. Wheather you drop the tank or raise the bed... Either method would be a pain in the ass! LOL
Thanks and thank you for watching.
Yes I just decided to go with the pain that did not require syphoning 35 gallons of gas out of the tank first.

You gave this a great effort and got the job done
Do You think undoing all the Bed Bolts on one side and loosening them on the other the bed might have tilted more easily lifting one side up instead of pivoting off the rear bed bolts
I am just wondering
Our 06 is dead so We are next
There was over 200 pounds of just fuel to deal with so lifting the bed sounds like a logical alternative to dropping the tank
You got the job done
Thanks for watching, i tried slightly loosening the one side and it just wasnt giving me enough room to work above the gas tank.
This way was actually much easier then it seems. Just jack it up slowly and use boards to place between the frame and the bed and it will work just fine.

That is a good video, though I had a hard time hearing what he was saying.
Sorry about that.

there's an orange safety clip he needs to remove first
I have a 97 Dodge ram 1500 I just cut an access panel out of the bed of the truck
That works to, but I use my truck for work so a cut in the bed, wouldnt work. It was really easy to lift the bed.

Always when you fill the tank. The red tab should have been a give away to unlock. I’m horrible with plastic clips to. Have to study them hard then I break it. The dad noises are real in this video. Good job having your kid help save them over $1,000 later in life. Don’t do this on blacktop. Gas will eat it
Hi is Juan if possible may u can help me find my dash for my 1997 dodge ram 2500 I look everywhere can't find it up and again I take my hat off for the amazing work u do god bless well done
.Not the clip you broke but the other line with the 2 things on each side. What's that black line called?the one you couldn't remember the name?
Hey jessie I can remember the video but looking from above they are starting left to right, they are supply, return, vent and drain.
Hope this helps. I will try to watch the video again later and see which line it is.
Let me know what time in the video it was.

@@RJsGarages thank you brother! Much appreciated 🙏🙌
I just put on my 98 2 gen fuel pump but the gauge is not working the truck does start right up what can be the issue
Some how the electrical connection may be loose, or the actual part on the back of the gauge went bad/got loose. Good luck.
Awesome job bro

2001 Durango just got a new fuel pump still hard start

It all depends this truck we have is a 33-35 gallon. Some only have like 26 gallons.
Gota pull the red locking click out of the wiring plug lol

Mi ram 2002 1500 no da señal de gasolina y no suena la bomba el tablero aparece como si no tuviera gas.
Pregunta lo mismo te paso a ti?
How long did this amazon fuel pump last? Should I get one or get one from a generic auto parts store for triple the price?
It is Still working fine.
If you do but, and could buy it from the link in the video description it would be awesome.

@@RJsGarages that's great, the one in the link is unavailable now, but I found a few just like it on amazon, I'll probably go down the amazon route knowing that it's lasted for you.
Autozone has 2, one for 166.99 and another for nearly 400 dollars. 166 is reasonable, but 400 is ridiculous
Thank you tell me where is the fuel filter app do you know I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1000 magnum. Look forward to hear from you bye for now. I'm also a CZcams or home improvement

Push the red tab first...
Cool 😎
She is pretty smartlol
The red clip is what holds it and all the way together now you broke three clips😂
Please don't crawl in there. That four by four isn't far from splintering either. Hopefully if you survive wood knives shooting at you with hundreds of pounds of force, then maybe you will be quick enough to not end up smashed.
Safety clip first
Yeah fuck that I'm cuttin a trap door in the bed
Diesel's not flying mobile like that man sorry to tell you
Is this a movie? 38 minutes?
Imdb gave it a 6.1.

this guy doesnt know what hes doing he broke the first connector cause he didnt unlock it . smh
I usually do the same thing. By the time I figured out how the dam thing was designed, it's usually pretty well destroyed
I getting gas and spark...cranking but won't start, and I just changed the fuel pump....any idea??? I need help....
