Sakura Spring, this miso broth was extremely complex. There was definitely bonito in there and the miso was on the sweet side. Imagine a sweet yet savory miso that's deeper in flavor than miso soup. Tons more umami and it was fairly thick so that the noodles would hold onto the flavors of the intense broth. Boy do I wish for a good bowl of saimin right now.

After watching this last week i went to the Asian market and got some stuff to make some udon. This is the only thing i can eat right now bcoz i have the cold. It was pretty good and made me feel better.

A local restaurant just started serving the best ramen I've ever had. It's a creamy and rich broth like this, and they actually serve it with a marinated soft boiled egg, which no other place in my town does! They also use a pork belly char-shu which is literally like butter. So delicous! The down side to this is that they only serve this item on their "late night" menu, as they are primarily a whiskey bar, and they're open until 1 or 2 am. I'm so happy I got to try something that looks like what you guys are experiencing!

Cold in winter? Good! You will like the onsen and the heated toilet seats much more! Hahaha! Here in Zurich I have central heating in my appartement - Unfortunately it does not snow that often here... I like the cold weather more than the hot and humid one.
Frederick König I actually don't like the cold weather so it's going to be a challenge for me. Brrrrr
TabiEats - But if it gets cold you can put on something - If it is hot you can take everything off and you are still sweating. That is the reason why I prefer the cold weather.
