Wow...i have been watching this whole thing and Herod is by far the best actor in the production...not necissarily the best singer, but up there on that list too.
Why change the most beautiful version there is ever made? It was the intention of the director to copy the movie, and he did a really good job, don't you think? And by the way, he also is an amateur, like the rest!!
Te felicito. Ahora soy un fan tuyo. Es la mejor voz que he escuchado con esta canción. Y no hay pequeñas partes... It´s the best King Herod´s performance that i have seen.
My dad's High School marching band did songd from this musical, and he even has a tape recording of it which I think is so cool. Thus far I'm loving this entire production. Good job!
wow, I really liked the 1973 version but I think this one is better. The king was much better, I especially like the switch in mood with the Are you not scared of me christ, it was a lot more powerful than either movies.
Don't know if anyone of you knows Bastian Pastewka, but at 3:25/3:26 he looks exactly like this guy. By the way.. lil mistake at the dance scene, where gets out of rythm, but great performance. Nothing else. I am overjoyed.
This guy's got a good voice and this could have become my favorite stage version of this song... EXCEPT... I just can't stand how he tries to sing so many words with different phrasings and even melody variations from the original. The song is perfect exactly with the phrasing and melody as on the original recording. That is the song. To butcher the phrasing like this really detracts from what could have been a perfect presentation. Sing it the way it was written. The original movie version was somewhat bastardized too, and I realize that this is largely based on that... but still... Otherwise this was handling fantastically.
Hmm where this version falls down: 1. Herod's singing is too good. The portrayal should be of someone who thinks they are better than they are(we've all met them)1973 hits it about right. 2. The supporting ast are too animated and distract from Herod's performance. 3. Jesus is too arrogant; standing upright and unafraid, i preferred the cowed versions. The wig bit was good though.
i wouldn't, the guy in the 1973 version totally ruined the song for me... i hated that this guy is better than him, but still i like the soundtrack version the best
It is great! Even if with the influence of '73. I really enjoyed it!
He has to be the best sounding Herod I've ever heard. He has got Mostel's voice, and Mayall's animated gestures. The perfect mix.
am playing king herod myself and based my image on yours, I'll show you anything i could once we perform it tomorrow!!
Nice touch to grab the food from the guard - it cracked me up!
I lost it when he threw the wig.
Love the brass intro and ending. Nice arranging. Kudos!

parre is echt goed. Je ziet echt dat hij er plezier in heeft en dat is al genoeg.
it is fantastic
Great stuff, this guy was hillarious!

No it only has one song in the whole show but I still think he is important !
That's right.
LOL when he threw his wig off.
wat een talent toch in Volendam :P
Wie speelt King Herod? Hij is samen met Kees Tol de beste acteur van de voorstelling! :D
but he has the best songgg
like how the gaurds start dancin!!!
He throws his wig lmao.
goed hoor!
No, the 1873 version with Sarah Bernhardt as Mary Magdalene, which was condemned by both Otto von Bismarck and Napoleon III.
@mrmoreful Succes

The intro music sounds like jurrasic park haha.
Kewl performance btw

ROFL.
That was so much better than the 2000 version!
Not as good as the 1873, though. :P
BUT IT WAS HILARIOUSLY AMAZING.
..am I the only one who rofled when he threw his wig? xD
can someone say... Elton John? hahah great job guys and gals involved
The only version I've seen that didn't do the same dance routine was the revised version.. lol
@1norrie1 You are all amateurs? You are very great than!
Sounds like Robin Williams...
he sings like elvis
No very very small !
beetje jammer dat het er gejat uit ziet en klinkt. alsof ze het rechtstreeks uit de film van 73 hebben gehaald. wel goed neergezet, dat dan weer wel
Well, i'm a singer myself & do musicals 2 , i kinda think this one was copiied from the 73*
But my opinion , it's not bad to be honest..
No, this is the original music of the movie played by amateurs!!! Maybe the makers of the lord movies copied it??
i think this guy is trying (not succeeding) to imitate the guy from the old version.
lol nice Rocky Horror joke.

unfortunately
In my opinion this guy is trying too hard. Otherwise not bad.
Nope !!! Just one of jesus's last stops before his cruxifiction.

The whole number is a rip off of the movie, Choreo to costumes....Too Bad
He sounds alot like the militent atheists of today. Critical, arrogant, and asking for evidence with out an open heart.
i dont like this herod!
this is good :]
we are doing this show at my musical theatre group
