The chorus could have been more mobile and expressive, but the voice and music was purely amazing... more than compensated for any other thing in existence here.

Aside from the atrocious blocking they have with the ensemble this still holds up as my favorite Judas a year later.
He's excellent! I'm a picky bastard, too - especially about vocals. He really is terrific. Nothing to do with this rendition, but someone who REALLY blew me away is Steve Balsamo, in the role of Jesus. I have always been a huge Ian Gillan fan, and also was always impressed by Ted Neeley's voice, but yeah - just WOW!

I really don't like the way Jesus and the disciples react to Judas' singing. I thin this song is more of Judas thinking to himself rather than actually talking to anyone. This is more of an internal feeling thought being expressed through song.

Ik heb recent de dvd van de britse arena tour gekocht met oa Melanie C (sporty spice) als Maria. Daar ben ik helemaal weg van, en de meeste andere versies ben ik niet weg van, maar ik ben verbaasd door hoe goed dit eigenlijk is. Jan Dulles heeft de perfecte stem voor Judas. Ik ga met plezier nog even verder kijken.

I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to other versions of this that aren't the album version or original London play version (I hate the movie for the most part) - and this dude, as far as I can remember, is the only one who comes close to my expectations and criteria, not flashy/poppy/over-theatrical/effeminate, sings it direct and harsh, with a lot of soul - A really good job!
(...now about the shows choreography errr umm smh)

+Mr Ed Helemaal met jou eens, hij moet helemaal op de Engelse toer gaan, daar is zijn stem bij uitstek heel geschikt voor!! Heb verschillende Engelse liedjes van hem gehoord, daar herken ik hem bijna niet in en dan heeft hij in mij ogen de beste stem van Nederland!!!

Why is it that the new versions want to have Judas confronting the apostles in the opening song? When I first saw the 1973 version it made sense to me that Judas was having a monologue, reflecting on his thoughts before acting on them or saying something he might regret...which I think is what most people would do if they had a disagreement with a good friend. I don't know...throwing this out there in the beginning kind of makes you wonder why they even keep him around.
This guy is the perfect fusion of Jerome Pradon and Carl Anderson. His voice has Anderson's edginess and a range comparable to Pradon's. While he is perhaps not as "mobile" as either one, I would wager he sounds as good (if not better) than either one in the studio.

The only complaint I have with this performance is that the Apostles seem to clap for no reason. In the movie they're worshiping Jesus, in the 2000 production, they're coming on stage, here they're just kind of. . .clapping.

Great voice, not a huge fan of the acting. I don't feel like Judas is despairing at all which he should be. Also not a huge fan of the staging, or how Jesus and his apostles are paying attention to Judas, since this is basically always portrayed as Judas's pleas being completely ignored by Jesus, thus leading to Judas's frustration.

judas is intense! such a tough role to fill, but he does it so well! that's a tough role to fill, but he is def the best i've seen after carl anderson.
This guy is awesome singing, but I don't really like his acting. Carl Anderson is my favorite Judas and no one could ever replace him. He was a great singer and actor! Rest in peace Carl :)
