I am a Sri Lankan who did both undergrad and masters in the USA. I obtained visa twice for the two degrees. When we applied, we were clearly told that the visa is strictly for education and I should return after my studies. So, showing ties to the motherland, and heavy cash deposits, parent monthly income, and all were part of the process. Although some of my friends remained in the USA by extending their visa by doing multiple academic programs, we decided to come back. The ROI is us teaching hundreds of students in local universities. We teach them what we learned and we help them to obtain better experiences in the future.

The problem with those returning after studying abroad and not getting a job is also that they have somehow come back with a superiority complex along with their degrees. Many of these have studied in average colleges abroad which have lower value than an Indian University degree. But just because they have a 'abroad' tag attached they expect a higher position and higher paying job and are not willing to start at entry position. If you've really studied at good University with good grades you would have acquired good skills and finding job won't really be a problem. So it's not as simple as saying '88% foreign returns didn't GET job'.

Many of the students from India going to native-English nations do work which are seen in Indian languages as menial work and as a disgrace to do.
So, it is not correct say that there is no work for graduates in India.
Indian feudal languages degrade most of work that are in England.
The desperation to be with some native-English population is very rampant over here. No one has any thoughts of converting the local areas into English locations. Instead, the aim is always to enter into English nations and spoil them.
If this is not possible, then a govt job where the salaries are 10 to 50 times the common man's earnings.

Please don’t call them students. Idiots would be an appropriate term. First of all they need to research the school that they seek admission to. I did masters and PhD on full scholarship from Ireland and now settled in the USA. Getting a letter from somewhere and then jumping on a flight is not immigration. Please do research.. at least go through the times world ranking and know where the school stands. Then research whether the school is good enough to procure a visa from the embassy. US schools specifically say that securing admission is not a guarantee that you are entitled to a visa. In fact many schools advise paying the fees until after the visa interview is over. The policies vary from country to country. And many of the countries like UK are not so welcoming any more. In other countries you will only land a job if the field of study chosen is in need. Most countries are saturated with management graduates. So if you are trying to get into a management course and there are natives of the country with the same degree they are given preference. Again if you are going to do a masters in computer science / IT to land on a software job, please work for a couple of years in India and gain work experience before flying abroad. It really matters. Getting foreign students a business for the institutions here. They just want to get the fees , and there is no guarantee of employment. So please do your homework rather than trusting some consultant in India. The university pay them heavily for recruiting students, this is on top of the processing fee you pay to them.

Still lots of legal colleges in Canada that will give admissions to a student who is unable to get admissions even in indian university. All you need is the money. I have seen students with 42 backlogs in Undergraduate and unable to do any graduate courses in india as all indian universities refused. But there are canadian and UK colleges gave admissions to him. But he has to pay 16k CAD before landing in canada and then 16k after. There are so many legal loopholes that are exploited for decades. Illegal ones probably make even more money. The Funny things is why would canadian government issue visa if the college is fake? . That is the whole process, you have to submit college admissions, and canadian government have to verify college before giving admissions. This is totally a fault on canadian government.

Yes, you are right that there are young men who really are not interested to study but use the student visa route for easy migration. But those men or students will not be able to apply for legal residence because they never attended or finished graduation. They then cannot claim being scammed or otherwise.

If someone is looking for meaningful careers, it takes hard work, irrespective of which country you are in. Many students that are stuck in this situation applied to programs that in most cases have very limited or no future prospects, and they go to college and universities that very lenient when it comes to their admission criteria. Universities are far more stringent and offer better programs, but the fact is, you need to do your homework if you want to apply to them. Many were duped, but some are complicit too, falsifying numerous information to get admission. Many of them just wanted to get there for any means necessary, that is why when an accredited consultant said No they turn to the illegal one that said Yes.

      @Ali-uz8qg Před rokem +1

@hacksgeek - The Canadian Embassy in India that processes student visa applications will only check the documents presented at first impression as being valid and true. In law it's called prima facie evidence, a document letter presented that is legally sufficient to establish a fact. It is not their role to dig deeper to further check the authenticity of that document. This is because all and any embassy in the world do not wish to slow the visa issuing process. So it's not the fault of a Canadian officer in the Embassy.
If the admission letters are fake, that due diligence is the role of CSIS, Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Only CSIS does a thorough check on an individual applying for legal residence and eventual citizenship. Therefore, if the admission letters found were truly fake and not valid, then the Canadian officer in CSIS did a good job in detecting the fraud.

I've worked in India, US and Canada. While I agree Indians in general have better technical skills, their overall aptitude is terms of critical and innovative thinking, leadership, management and communication is lacking. Hence, those who come with indian education and work exp struggle in jobs. Indians who study abroad, live and work there for at least 5 years, pick up these other skills and start doing very well like our big CEOs. Point is, indians are most talented but American and Canadian university education is much better.

@agnescraig2912 if you're talking about education, stick to education. marriage is a commitment and responsibility in india where an entire takes care of a couple and helps in their growth and supports them , also india is the country with the least divorce rates in the world. the only places that do have shitty marriages and higher divorce rates are westernized places in india. statistically relationship instabilities are very common in western society . just by that you can say which type of lifestyle and society sucks at marriage

Most of the Indians who go to study in Canada go to below-average universities. The top universities in Canada are McGill, Univ of Toronto, McMaster, Univ of British Columbia, and Alberta. Very few Indian students get admission into these universities. Most Indians get into C-grade Canadian Universities.

He was given the life savings of his family so he could learn the skill, then we could possibly pay his whole family back and send my back home. The guy promised that he would teach him if he did worked for him on his land but at the end, the man didn’t keep up his end of the bargain, and the young man ended up in a pretty bad situation. I don’t know what happened to him after though.😥

Even resident native born Canadians are looking for a better quality of life... in Canada... while it is steadily going downhill and people cannot afford to keep a roof over their heads. Choosing bills over food. Rent over necessities. Wages do not come close to covering the costs of life. And we see some very poor work ethics in some of those who have moved here for whatever reason. Standing in a job, fully focused on their phones, ignoring customers. It's a fun experience. And it's gross on all sides, for everyone.

Honest speaking the students are not victims, they know what was transpiring on and so are the visa officers. The government of Canada finds it embarrassing to admit about the scale of corruption among its officers. The government of Canada does not want to admit that it has had employees who have taken advantage of their positions of power and used it to solicit bribes and other forms of corruption. By admitting this, it would damage its reputation and public trust.

If unemployment is already 8% and unemployment among college grads is 18%, that does not bode well. Disheartened, disillusioned youth are a recipe for social and political unrest and possibly crime as well.
