  • I tried packing this backpack for a wild camp just to see if it could be done. I always like to test out gear and experiment with different set ups. Any failure is something to learn from so I will be using similar loadouts in future. I hope that you enjoy this little video.
    Thank you for watching and I will see you in the next one,
    Jason

      I reckon the stretch pockets are the best feature on that bag, especially the hip belt pockets. They are the same size as the ones on the 40L bag.. I'll try it again with a tent for the craic 😄

    Nice. Always interesting to see other people's gear actually used. I like to keep my 1/8 thinlight pad strapped to the outside "back" side of my pack for easy access during the day without having to repack my pack.

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před 2 lety +1

      That is probably the better way to do it. I would normally keep my sit pad inside the pack for a short hike but for longer days I'd try and keep it somewhere that is easy to get to

    Great idea not using the compression sack for the sleep bag. You just made me unpack my full Iceland bag. I also bought the spork after one of your videos. You causing me money 🤣🤣 great set up and light. You're becoming an ultra light camper. Nice job Jason.

I already subscribed I love hiking channels. But i was like theres no way your geting all that into a 20L bag. But yea i was wrong. • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před 2 lety

      I've got some mad skills 😄 I might do a little video on this bag now that you mention it.. It's a great little day pack, more so for winter in my opinion but it depends on how bulky your layers are. I reckon I would get away with a 10litre pack for summer day hikes

  • @Funkteon
    @Funkteon Před 6 měsíci

    Replace that tarp with the DD Hammocks Superlight 3x3m and replace that sleeping mat with something that packs down MUCH smaller. You'll be able to fit more comfort items in your 20L (or any) bag...

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před 6 měsíci

      I did a camp using a tent with that little pack. It did a great job. I have the polyester dd 3x3. I couldn't justify buying the superlight, although I have been tempted 😄

    Well done ! What about a packing cube for clothes?

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před rokem

      Yeah you could try it, I sometimes leave the clothes loose. That way when I'm packing I can use them to fill the gaps between the bulkier items. I do that even on my winter pack but I always use a pack liner to keep everything dry.

  • @markoramius69
    @markoramius69 Před rokem

    20 liters is possible, but in my opinion everything is very tight. I prefer a minimum of 30 liters for overnight outings and 40 liters for several days with more food. Being minimalist is a good quality, but for me comfort and enjoyment without discomfort are more important.
    Great video.

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před rokem +1

      I'm the same. I like minimalist style of camping but having that little bit of wiggle room in the pack is nice. It's less stressful to get packed up and on the way. I always bring a little chair now and I wouldn't leave without it. Cheers, have a good one 🍀

    Awesome video, thanks Jason! How much did the fully loaded backpack weigh? And did it remain comfortable carrying that weight for hours on end?

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I haven't a clue to be honest, I never weighed it 😄 I used a very similar loadout for a wild camp but swapped out the tarp and bivy for a lanshan 1 pro. Pretty sure I carried 4 litres of water that day so the bag was heavy. It did the job but it's not designed to carry that sort of weigh so I could have done with more padding in the shoulder straps.
      Here's the video of the camp so you can see what I brought along czcams.com/video/S8hxIObN57Q/video.htmlsi=RgZtsrnqt-sDoCM0

    • @yokusi
      @yokusi Před 4 měsíci

      @@RamblingOn Thanks for the info. 4 litres of water plus all that gear is pretty heavy. Good to know it can handle it though not designed for such weight. I'm aiming for a total weight of less than 9 kilos, so maybe it will do or I'll look at the 30 litre instead for more comfort.
      And another great video and beautiful sunrise, you're absolutely right that it's hard to be in a bad mood when you wake up with such a great view!

    Hy Jason,is big different between 20 and 30l in filling?.Because looking tech.informations, they are diiferent for 3cms in high and depth. i am planning to go for 1 night at the mountain, sometimes taking tent?
    can i use 30l for 1 day treking or its looks big
    is in sizes differenties in S-L?
    thank you

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Před rokem

      I don't have the 30l version, but for most of my camps, I use the 40litre version.
      I have videos for that bag also, it would do for most situations and I have used it on a multi day trip too.
      If you are taller than 170cm, go for the large size. Otherwise, go for the small. It would be best to try it on in store if you can

      Hi I've just measured it and the measurements in centimetres are 60h x 28w x 20d. The width is for the main body and not including the side pockets filled with bottles. If you included a 1 litre nalgene hottle in each side the width would increase by approximately 20cm at the top of those pockets. I hope this is of a help to you
