sometimes a normal things looks turns like unnormal in treating those things like automotive mechanics, thus race tuned setup were I've never tried that before in my life whether from my amateur specs were already to be tries with my own analytical studies
Whatsup man. Love the channel. I have a question. I just bought a 2018 grom and I’m loving ittttt. The only problem is I’m hearing a tiny bit of ticking from the engine ? Is this normal? I might bring it back to the dealership
If it’s brand new that’d be alarming. Depending on how much you want to check on your own but you can take the following steps. Check the oil level. Adjust the valves. Take off the top valve cover and insure it’s pumping oil when the bike is running. Break down the top end and replace the piston and cylinder jug. If it’s used it could have been wheelies or ran without enough oil which causes the piston to rub against the cylinder and that’s where you get the tick or knocking sound. But if it’s brand new it could just be the valves need adjusting.
Photogromer sounds like I’m bringing it back to the dealership lol. Is it bad to ride the bike until then ? Gotta wait for my dad to get back from vaca to put it on his truck bed
It is more durable (better metal quality) - so will last longer/more consistent high Quality JAPAN bearings machining ect.. The crankshaft mod is for more stability (more strengthening bottom end wise).
@@Photogromer thanks for answer, I did a mistake and took out wrong bolt for oilchange, then the spring come out, after I started it again it was just like it jumped over 1 teeth, can it do that easy like that? I took all appart and inside and can now just move it easy with my finger, I am used to cars where the tentioner are much tighter. So it just made me wondering if I did something wrong 😊
If it looks like mine in the video I guess it’s okay. Maybe the tensioner chain stretched out? It’s hard to say without putting hands on it but I’d just compare what looks like the slack in my video and others to yours. Make tensioner arm is rotated down to the chain and start her up. If everything sounds good you should be ok.

I will try again tomorrow, its a brand new bike so all should be tight, maybe me who just messed it up, us it the TD- center's first or secound mark on flywheel I shoul use for set the timing chain again? If the oil plunger what you said people mistakenly take out thinking it’s the oil will it matter on putting it back in with spring ? On 6:53

Would the timing mark move when you remove the flywheel?
I feel my tentioner is a bit loose, not much pressure on it with that spring, is that normal?
Did you check the tensioner bolt on the bottom of the engine case next to the oil drain plug to make sure it wasn't loose?
