5:10 closing thoughts and results from the install of the third generation Cam chain tensioner
Please tell me about your steering damper!!! I been wanting one for my ‘22 but can’t find any.
Hey nice video! Just the other day I installed the same tensioner in my 2023. I ended up acquiring the service manual, and if you wanted to add tension to the tensioner before you button everything back up all you have to do is pour oil into the cavity with the tensioner piece that goes up and down. Then you pump it it up and down to bleed the air out if it and it will eventually be unable to move.
Thanks for the info!
So the noise that you are hearing is actually the headlight. There are little rubber grommets that squeak I promise a little bit of WD-40 in there and you won't hear that noise
Yumisashi has been making a cam chain arm with bearing for a while for only 40$. The speed shop one looks nicer but cost 3x that!
Whats the long threaded bolt that gave you leverage in the video ? You didnt show it
Are you running the stock rear sprocket I heard alof o people pointing to the stock sprocket guard
Thanks for the video, ive got a bone stock grom with DHM/TST/K&N modified intake with a tune and amazon exhaust and im overwhelmed at how many mods can be done. Whats on my primary list of things is a yoshimura rs9-t exhaust, gear shift stabilizer, aftermarket headlight cover, tst chain adjusters and hopefully that will be it.
That sounds like a nice set up. Do you have the s1 cam?
Consider taking one tooth off the front sprocket and adding a speed healer to that list at some point too. I’ll have a video of that out soon with my results
@0to60eventually_youtube definitely want to do the sprocket for sure in the future. Honestly my grom is the nicest thing I own and at the current moment I am saving up for a house and a car in the future. I got my grom with zero credit and $500 down through the honda first time buyer program. I still owe a little bit on it and when it's all said and done I will have payed almost 6 grand for the stock bike alone but it's given me a hell of a credit score and it can maintain the speed limit up any hill with my current setup and I'm 250lbs and carry around 30-40lbs on my daily commute. No S1 cam or anything. I do run royal purple 10w40 motorcycle oil with a k&n oil filter optimized for full synthetic oil. I can't seem to find much on if that's ok outside of the obvious mpg loss with a slightly thicker oil. Most people seem to not really care and I totally get that but I always want to care for what I own and give it the best chance for longevity. I didn't want to run stock oil given how much more stress I'm putting on the stock engine components and clutch.
I don´t recommend changing the stock cam chain tensionar with a metal one, because it will wear out or/and eventually brake and those small metal pieces will damage the engine. There are reports of Groms where that happen. The stock cam chain is fine and it´s made of rubber for a good reason, to not hurt the engine in case of wearing out.
I can promise that The speed shop knows what they are doing. They sponsored my bike. I will be taking first april 13th.
what are these bikes at the 9:01 time stamp and 8:55 time stamp?
great video by the way, its the ONLY one on the internet aside from that one YT short showing the insides for a few seconds.
its an ohvale not street legal track version of a grom people learn how to lean properly on small tracks with them hand built in italy they are like 10k
Its not the cam chain. Have you checked your rear wheel bearings?
