I love teaching people how to paint!
I created The Idaho Painter as an alternative to big box DIY video shows that have actors who only act like they can paint but really can barely act. My mission is to teach everyone across the globe how to paint from the non-experienced to the long time professional. No experience is necessary. My channel is for the home improvement person, DIY painter, handyman professional, home and garden enthusiast, and even the professional painter. - Jak na to + styl
Thanks so much! Great job on all these doors! The lady at the store looked at me funny when I asked for glaze for some reason!
Great video
Hi let me tell you the truth, I watch you videos a couple times and I like your job I learn parts thanks for sharing you can tell love your job of paint !
man great job, i have a renovation business and have seen all your videos its helped me tremendously, Keep up the good work and all the best!!!
Nice job bro look good.
I'm a painter in Ireland was cool 2 c how u do it in USA. Door looks very well great job👍
I live in Florida. The sunlight seems to uterly destray urethane clear coats in very short order. A true spar varnish must be used and repeated at least annually on exterior surfaces exposed to sunlight. In the full tropics marine spar varnish must be one coat removed and one replaced every 30 days. Although epoxy lasts longer when it does need restoration it entails complete removal and recoating. That is a tough one to do.
Sounds like a lot of work to do!
Yes indeed.
:)
Nice job chris. Are the graco tips better than the titan tips?
You are welcome
Hi, my father recently just repsinted our door with a coat of clear water base polyurethane. I want to follow your video and redo the door, do I have to remove all existing paint or can I just lightly sanded the surface? Can you list the material you used? What's the alternative way if I don't have a spray?
Did you spray the strike and hinge sides of the door as well?
i have a question can you use stain , or varnish on a front door or what is best ?
Hey Chris what sheen did you use with the Helmsman Spar Finish
Thank you so much for the video on lacquer with the airless , I switched from the hvlp. Sooo much easier with the 3/10 . You are the man Idaho painter !!!!
Chris I got cuestion how to put stain oil an burnish the door
After two days of searching the web for a good way to work on my front door, I finally found your site. Excellent and professional videos to learn about painting. I am in Texas though I can't use your services but I have few questions to ask you. Is this method of glazing and lacquering a door works on a stained door? also, is the spraying part can be done manually? I am planning to re-stain my front door changing it to a darker color. I was told that i must strip it to the grain... Thank you in advance for your advice!!! I just followed you on Facebook and gave you a 5 star:)
What about the edges of the door? Would it be easier to remove the door so that you can get the entire area?
Might want to make a spray booth for the interior. Rookie move
LOL
Where do you get your 4" gun extensions thank you Chris.
John looks so young damn
Did you sand them down first?
At what point do you start if the door is brand new raw wood? It has never been painted.
I'm off to do my door! One question: when you did the bathroom cabinets a few videos ago, you said not to sand before you glaze. Is this a different case or did I misunderstand you? I would think that a light scuff would be needed in all cases. Cheers!
tamoose1 always light sand before applying any kind of coat over something thats some kind of clear or even paint thats been there for a while, you could run into adhesion problems later
What are you spraying?
hey brother in Christ, on exterior wood door like the one on video, if its weathered on exterior side(sun, wind, dark water stains in areas) if sanded and sealed would the glaze hide it or is the door toast other then painting it??
Rob Dameron glaze should work and if it doesnt try gel stain its thicker and hides more of those defects
Hi Chris, how can you get an electric guitar paint finish on a door? Thanks
Thanks!
thank you
Chris you look a bit skinnier. You alright buddy?
The 2 hour total time doesn't include the drying time right?
Oh, I thought you were using Helmsman Spar Urethane.
Awesome, thanks for the fast responses. Your videos are all fantastic. The quality of the work you do is even better!
