  • Welcome to Lille, northern France. We are a few kilometers away from the Belgian border, in a city with unique history, architecture, and traditions, a city that has survived sieges, occupation, economic upheaval through the centuries, to emerge more beautiful, more powerful, and more dynamic than most.
Come and join Véro on a stroll around Lille's cobbled streets, in "le Vieux Lille," all the way to the historic center of town, la Grand' Place.
To see Lille shine at night on December 31, 2020, watch the live stroll replay here: • Lille, the shining sta...

Thank you! Lille is breathtaking. And it is so close to everything! Nice Looks beautiful. It reminds me of Redondo Beach in Southern California. Nantes looks interesting too. I love the sharing of visual information via CZcams!! Thank you!!

I visited Lille in 2010. I found the city to be very beautiful and the buildings were so easy on the eye. I want to go again. Allez France.

Thank you for the lovely tour of Lille.
I never knew it was this beautiful.
I lived in Amsterdam from the 70s to the mid 80s.
Somehow I had the misconception that Lille, or Rijssel as its original Flemish name is, was a dump half-way on the road to Paris.
I must confess I was wrong. The parts you've shown remind me of Brussels.
As I write this it's early 2023 and Covid is almost behind us. Funny to see this beautiful city in the early stages of this pandemic.
Greeting from Curaçao in the Caribbean.

You are not entirely wrong. Northern France and the area around Lille used to be a pretty depressed area. It took them a while to bounce back after the French government shut down coal mining industry in these parts. Lille has been a vibrant city for over a decade now, and many visitors (and expats) have re-discovered it. A bientôt.

Thank you Veronique for a great video and a wonderful refresher of my month staying in Lille back in 2010. I gave it a most enthusiastic Like, I've subscribed, and am now also following on FB. I will explore more French cities through your vids until I can explore them in person. I'm rather keen to return to Lille.
    Cheers, Phil.

@@leseize26 these are the style of the area, different from the Dutch style there are a little simular offcourse but many differences between Dutch and Belgian (more specific Flanders). Ps I live in Lille France and that's called: the Flanders of France, because of the Flemish feel. We never speak about 'Dutch style' always Belgian or Flemish feel/ architecture. Ps some aritecture is French. Mix between French and Flemish architecture

Great mini-tour, thank you! I am surprised to see a 'Carhartt" boutique on Le Pelletier -- here in upper CA that brand is considered for working class red-staters. They seem to be trying to reach higher. :-)
