This design requires the wall to carry the load. I do not recommend this design for a garage unless the wall is perpendicular to the roof truss, or is built purposely to withstand the load. This small application is fine, but for a large wall where 20 or 30 feet of this will be used in multiple shelves...I would floor support the shelves.
