- Here we cover invincible moves! So universally everyone's level 3 super move is invincible on startup, and everyone's down+heavy attack is invincible to air attacks after the first few frames of animation. However there is more to it than that, there is other moves that are full invincible, and other moves that are invincible to air attacks!

Invincible moves! The basics are covered, as well as moves that are air-invincible other than just your basic down+heavy attack! *edit* yes hits medium/ex stance is indeed invincible as well, however the moves out of it are not so I didn't mention it. However that was probably remiss of me so here's the mention of it!
So if someone Super Dashes while I'm in the air as Yamcha I can just 214M for free counter? Definetely didn't know that, thx for the vid.
Edit: So just went to test it. 214M it's not anti-air while in the air, but 214H is both on ground and in air. Interesting
Thanks as always for the videos man. I really learned a lot from the things that you post. However, and this might sound like a stupid question but do you think you can make a video on how to identify when to use level 3 supers? My team is fairly good I use Goku blue, Goku Super Saiyan, and teen Gohan. Probably not the best but I really like it and I do relatively well in ranked winning Maybe every 2 out of 3 games. But I always win from combos everytime I try to use Soopers they block which tells me I'm not using it at the right time. Do you think you can make a video on when the best time to use a level 3 super is depending on certain characters like beans or strikes? I would really appreciate it man that would help taking my game to the next level

LMAO ok well Gohan doesn't count. adult Gohan is a cheat code. i wonder if cell LVL 1 can do that?
Just going to say for those who wonder why frame 1 invincibility is so important: What this means is that you CANNOT use these attacks to beat out aerial jump-ins that are perfectly timed to overlap your wake up. If your opponent does an instant air dash heavy for example and that attack overlaps with your character getting up, using an air-invincible attack such as down heavy or any uppercut will result in you getting blown up. However, that means if you see the opponent instant air dash against you in the neutral, then you can react to that attack and typically beat their aerial attack cleanly. Hope this helps the beginners out there.

Of all the anti-air moves in the video, Yamcha's vertical Wolf Fang Fist is the most like Ryu's Shoryuken, lacking frame 1 invincibility notwithstanding.

Here are the one you missed (i didn't know if i should include the ones that reflect basic projectiles since it's reflecting rather than being invicible to them, but here they are anyway):
-16's medium and heavy command grabs are both invincible to ki blasts during the dash he performs before connecting the move;
-Trunks' qcb+s reflects ki blasts at the very beggining of the dash;
-Gotenks' dynamite kick reflects ki blasts aswell;
-Vegeta Blue's command grab also refletcs ki blasts;
-18's barrier is invincible to everyhting except grabs (this probably isn't on the video because it is supposed to be a move that negates incoming damage but still gonna put it here).
Then there's Krillin:
-Krillin has a weird property in his heavy afterimage, it's common knowledge by now that it is possible to hold the button in order to perform a feint, leaving the real krillin ready to perform another action on the ground, however if the opponent attacks the grounded krillin with any projectile based attack (even ground explosions) during the time where the second one is already flying, even if you hold the button down you will still do the full move (kinda weird to explain, but basically if there are two krillins on screen and the opponent makes the grounded one disappear via any projectile it will force you to complete the move). Also it technically works with supers aswell, given that the hitbox of the super manages to hit only the grounded Krillin and that krillin is just starting the move before the super activates, but realistically it's impossible to do it (i managed to dodge frieza's deathball fullscreen since it angles down and vegeta's air big bang at almost ground level so you get the idea)
with krillin if you press qcb l and then l again then killing will teleport to his afterimage but if you don't press the additional command then he will stay put as the original, same goes for other versions of his afterimage

symeon carter same. Currently I have 16 on point solely for his armored aggression, but when Broly comes out I know they're going to make him a tank. He has the longest reach in the game with the highest power. Can't wait to main him!

Thanks for this video. I do know that Yamcha's level one will stop most or if not all level 3 moves. His level 3 will go straight through anyone's moves. Even level 3
Android 21's ground Sticky Energy Blast also has the anti-air property FYI.
It's worth noting that the invincible start up property means that in most situations characters with level 3s that require a hit to activate tend to cleanly beat beam supers, and tiens neo tri beam beats out everything because the character is no longer on screen after using it, the first hit will often whiff though. This is partly what makes yamchas level 3 so useful, you can often punish enemies who raw level 3 beam from as far as half the screen away with it.
The gale claws anti air property I wasn't aware of, it will probably help out a lot though seeing as yamchas down heavy is a bit finicky at times and will usually whiff if your opponent is at too steep an angle.
Piccolo’s parry usually has start up (about 4 frames or so) but his EX Parry Chop becomes active on Frame 1. It’s his “Get Off Me” reversal, but is punishable on block.
Can sometimes whiff if done with your back to the corner wall tho.
Adult gohan even has invincibility moves, God he's so op lol

Cell is way more op than gohan air kamehameha, anti-air invincible you can acutally confirm off of with no assist, full screen comand grab, meterless vanish with by-far the easiest input in existence, muthafucken bison sweep with a huge hit box and pretty much a guarateed confirms off of a wall smash, humongous limbs. I mean need i go on?

Also a bit disappointed they didn't have a hitbox display in this game but I guess they figured since people were calling this game too easy without even playing it that they wanted players to figure it out themselves in the lab.
Hits level one fist super is invincible with the right timing against almost everything and level 1 and 3 supers. I've blown through young gohans level 3 super.

Yamcha' s spinning slash can beat super dash too... love it, use it all the time against weak players that super dash you to death... and every version wins, weak mid and strong
Adrian Culbreath Super dash counts as an aerial move. Which means that every move that beats out aerial moves (the light DPs, every crouching H, as well as the other moves shown in this video) will beat super dashes.
Yamcha's Level 3 Neo Wolf Fang Fist has 100% invincibility against projectiles, including other beam level 3s, such as gohan's father son kamehameha. If you see an opponent pop a raw level 3 projectile super, you can counter with Yamcha's, provided you have the meter and are relatively close.

When we're talking about anti-air moves, are they just invincible against air normals or is it basically any move that's started in the air (and Super Dashes)? A lot of characters have dive-kick-esque specials that can be started from the ground, performed in the air, and leave them in the air, and I'm never sure whether I can safely 2H them.
Air normals/physical air moves. Basically anything a down+heavy would snag.
Android's 214H has instant s against airbone attacks, also Vegeta's airbone 214L has s against airbone attacks, making it effectively a DP in air to air situations.
Piccolo's ground demon slicer is invisible to pretty much everything I think bar grabs and supers

Do you think medium and heavy attacks work on the ground because the character has more balance and light attacks work on aerial opponents because it doesn't require much effort to manipulate an airborne opponent?
Tien’s 236M has invincibility only while he has his fists balled.
Thats armour(guard point) which does not count as invincibility. You could throw him out of it for example which you can't do to any of the uppercuts.
I dont know if its invincibility but android 16’s standing heavy seems to power through alot of stuff.
Now that you've gone through the moves that are invincible, you should go over those that are counters. Piccolo and Hit are the obvious, but I have no idea about anyone else.

Also, yamchas lvl 3 goes trough every other level 3 on the game as far as ive tested
So what are you supposes to do if you know for a fact someone will use say, Ultimate Gohans invincible uppercut on wakeup. How can you possibly punish their wakeup?

Yep the homing dash is airborne, so it applies.

it's garbage that down heavy isn't air invul frame 1. It's the only consistent option to beat super dashes and it doesn't work frame 1. This game has some confusing design choices.
Hit's blue flame stance is invincible (not an attack but ya)
Tenshinhan volleyball fist abs Android 18's heavy have super amor, don't know if it's like this "frame invincibility" though.
Armour is not like invincibility. Its still quite good, however there is weaknesses to armour (like losing to throws and supers) invincibility does not have.

It is in no way shape or form invincible. It has armour that starts on frame 4(after the patch) that's it.

So does this count when dealing with overheads?
Overheads are considered as "in-air" moves (if you jab someone out of an overhead, you'll air-reset them), so under pressure can Gohan/Vegeta uppercut or cell do his qcb+L?
The generic command overhead everyone has does NOT count as an air move for the purposes shown here. So that's why you can't down+Heavy an overhead for example. They count as grounded moves.
Interesting. I thought they were counted as air-based because low moves end up whiffing under them, and counter-jabbing puts them in an air-juggle state (Someone counterhit my raw overhead and was able to jump cancel into full air combo) - I guess not.
I believe Gotenks EX Dynamite Kick has some manner of invincibility as well

yeah its the spin top, and from some retesting myself it seems that while it doesn't have invincibility it has hit priority over most things but beams and heavy attacks. it counters 16s command grabs as well as Goku Blacks Dive Kick and god slicer for example and likely other non invincible specials that don't have heavily extended hitboxes.

Armour is the ability to take a hit, and the move doesn't stop. So piccolos move where he raises his arm during that point he has armour. However armour does not save you from throws like a invincible move would for example.

The aura itself is invincible, but you can't exactly hit someone with it so I didn't feel it applicable. The moves out of the stance are not invincible.

It won't "beat it out" but you can very well pass through the active frames of it and both moves will just whiff through each other.

Bamkii armor means even though Hit your opponent you still take damage from the opponents attack and invincibility means you take absolutely no damage from punishing an opponents attack.

Be warned that Beerus's Wave of Destruction is not fully invincible to super dashes. So like all of his projectiles, an enemy can super dash you through your Wave of Destruction.

Its invincible to super dashes. However the invincibility is not forever after startup so if you do it raw, then after that they homing dash, then your invincibility will run out and they will hit you.
huh really? I have done it when someone tried super dashing me full screen and it didnt work. So I guess I have to do it with the same timing as Gohan's and Vegeta's counters?

Nope. Just armour. Guy who took the "invincibility" screencap of his hitbox kinda mislead people as it wasn't a correct reading of it. You can still easily stuff it before the armour starts.

Nope, I didn't. Hit has no invincible attacks, just one stance that happens to be invincible until it ends, or you attack.
