Starting to get speed and power but can't stop catapulting!? then this is the video for you. Filmed on a high wind day in Keros I'll go through so key tactics and techniques that'll keep you at speed and control and stop you going out the front door!
As usual the Ride-Along session is brought through a combination of live on-board cameras and microphones, as well as some pre-recorded demos to add some clarification.

Filmed in Keros, Greece; but my usual spot is Vassiliki, Greece- join me here for a clinic!
Kit used... a mix of Point-7 sails, mainly the Spy, ACX and F1e.
Boards vary too, Starboard tends to be my "go-to" for kit, but also RRD a lot too.
    Audio recorded on InstaMic
Filmed on a mix of Insta360 OneR & GoPro Max
Mixture of camera mounts including Fly Mount and Sail Video System
Special thanks to Point 7 sails, Starboard Windsurf & Sungod.

so great - thanks very much. armed with these tips went out on Garda yesterday first time sailing in 15 years post knee surgeries, children etc. before that stuck at intermediate. now overweight, over-powered forgot how amazing terrifying windsurfing can be. loved it and f***ing hammered it. lot of swearing and laughing - barely move today. very big smile. Ciao.

Man, at first I thought having if filmed on the water would make it awful, but you absolutely nailed it. Great piece of advice and camera angles help to figure things out much quicker.

Great video Cookie. Very good explanation about heading upwind to gain more control. I like the part about bending that front arm briefly to gain control/composure, also great advice about straightening the front arm and driving through that extended leg. Windsurfed at the weekend and was planing a lot earlier and for a lot longer, in marginal conditions, than the other guys, but looking at their stance they were bending the front arm and a very upright posture, wanting the wind to do the work! Could have spent all afternoon coaching :-) Keep them coming

Great format! The problem with heading upwind to avoid being overpowered is that you will hit massive chop, which in gnarly conditions is just as bad as being overpowered.

These tips were super handy yesterday. Was blowing 25knts with 35knt bullets. Was riding 5.5 on 110litre freeride. Only got thrown out the door once. Still think my straps might be two large as was getting hooked up in the harness lines in final stage of gybe on sail flip.
