Although i think i know what should be done, fysically doing it, is a different story. Thx for highlighting the common faults. What i still find difficult to time is the sail flip in respect to the wind. Do you already have a movie in which this is explained? Would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, maybe this helps me to find the lost power! I noticed that my jibes are much better when I'm riding a wave... can't get a nice planing exit on the flat spots. This made me regain all the interest in planing out of the jibe consistently. The video is quite easy to understand indeed, there's something about the delivery! :)

Excellent video! You can really see what's going on with your feet. To me, the footwork is one of the most difficult parts of gybing. I've been one of those people who switch their feet too late. My instinct is to wait until the board slows down enough that I feel comfortable switching my feet, but if I do that then there's no way I'll plane out of the gybe.

I can get into the gybes and even swap feet going clew first but I then struggle to keep the board turning so end up in no man’s land. It’s sooo frustrating.

Thanks for another amazingly informative video. I will definitely be putting all this into practice! I was really stuck on the foot change for ages. One thing that’s unlocked this move for me recently is thinking of it more of a ‘hip twist’ first rather than just a foot change. I was forever trying to change my feet with somewhat tense, locked hips pointing directly downwind. Relaxing, dropping and twisting the hips near the downwind point (but keeping the body upright) immediately drives the foot change for me. There is a point where I feel I have to change my feet - because my hips have already started to rotate. I think I can see something similar at 1:48 I may be barking up completely the wrong tree here 🤷‍♂️😂 but thinking about the gybe in this way seems to have really unlocked my progress 👍

was wondering if you could make a video dedicated to light wind maneuvers? Including tacks, heli tacks and chicken- jibes on smaller 85ish ltr fsw boards in none planing conditions? maneuvers wave sailors use all the time to catch a good incoming set or when have to chicken out. that would be awesome!

I also like the footage of the jibe in the end. I play it at 0.25x speed in a loop, so I can see all the steps you do in great detail. (Maybe an idea for you for a YT short) Personally, I am on the verge of a planing jibe. I notice you wait a little longer to flip the sail after the footswitch. Depending on the conditions, I will practice that for my next session!

Hi, at the end of this clip noticed, that when jibing, you placed your back foot far forward, just behind of the front strap. You did it because you had low speed and tried to keep the board flat during jibe?

Amazing! My brother and I will be in Vassiliki start of next week! We were a bit nervous about the wind conditions, it doesn't show particularly good winds on Windy app. I quote my bro "We'll probably see a new cookie video popping up these next few days and see how the conditions actually are" and Voila! I never seem to be able to set my sails to get the centre of effort to be stable enough to only need " micro " adjustements - i feel like Im moving, pushing and pulling all over the place just to keep planing and certainly never feel like I could easily take a hand off. Maybe an episode of setting a rig properly for easy control would be brilliant ( think i outhaul way too much 🤷 )

One problem (of many ) that I’m encountering as I sail faster (in my case around 25kts) is my front arm is really having to push against the boom as the front of the (cammed) sail seems to be trying to get over the windward rail, what might I be doing wrong? Thanks for the vids. Could you talk a bit more about relative weighting between front and back foot with different winddirection and strength please. Also whether you bend at the waist to sit down into harness or extend body more straight and outboard to lever down on the hips. In lulls do you try to unweight the feet by sitting down and forward into harness or use arms to pull weight down through boom into mastfoot? Cheers.
