    I think it is awesome that you show all these techniques and tips on normal material. Essential for people to learn on these big boards and freeride sails. Starboard and Point7 should be so happy with you.

      Thanks! Glad you like the videos, I think doing the skills I’m demonstrating on the correct kit for the people who would be learning it is important! 🤩🤩🤩

    Great video- I learned to windsurf 20 years ago- never got beyond harness and footstraps blasting and that took a few years!- looking to get back into it now- I really wish we had videos like this back then- it was so hard to try understand all this from reading articles- I was bamboozled!!

    Great selection of tips that all combined gets one going. If I had to pick a favourite it would be: Get (very) low, to go(with front leg straight. At ~3kts less I would like you to show us how to pump onto the plane in marginal conditions using probably a 7.5-8.0m2 sail.

      I’ll add pumping in marginal winds to my “to-film”‘list for s23!

    might be going backwards but ...tacking when is blowing hard of getting going from an up-haul when the wind is strong would really help. I watch the relevant ride along over and over before going out and its really helping but getting going again in the deep when its blowing... no one covers

    Hi! Thank you for the really helpful videos. How about one about choosing fins? Sorry for the simple question: when you say in, back, down, is it:
    In means sheeting in
    Back means reducing distance between clew and the back of the board/mast towards the back of the board
    Down means mast towards windward
    Thank you!

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před rokem +2

      Hi!
      Thanks for enjoying! I’ve been thinking and discussing a lot about fin’s lately, and come to quite a simple solution…. Stick with what the manufacturer recommends for each board- until it’s giving you too much lift and you can’t control it…. Then either change down sail or loos some fin!
      Simple!

    Great Videos! .
    Could you plese explain what you mean by "dig" (in drop and dig)? Thanks

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Drop and dig= drop your hips low, dig your heels to trim the board to windward and head up wind.
      Hope you can make it to Vass for some coaching this summer! 👍

  • @PavelBarbanegra
    @PavelBarbanegra Před 10 měsíci +1

    When you say "push with your front leg", do you mean with the muscles of the leg, or do you mean "move your center of gravity (that is, the hips) towards the back leg"?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Mmmm…. When holding something and leaning back you can choose (without changing stance/shape)… which leg you have weight/balance/pressure on.
      If you want to speed up use the front leg… slow downs/head up the back leg.
      👌👌

    hi , i am an relatively experienced dinghy sailor and i recently bought a wiindsurf pretty hardcore for beginner (110l board 7.8 7.0 North sails slalom 4 camber) i bought it because it was a bargain and could not pass on this great deal, any advice on how to start on these setup ? ofc the reason commentary would say "go take lesson" but i have the stuff in my garage and the sea at 500meter so any tips is welcome

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před rokem

      That’s some hardcore kit even for an experienced windsurfer! Maybe rent some kit for a while while you get ready to step onto your kit!?

  • @RobManser77
    @RobManser77 Před rokem +2

    You say a high boom - how high is that relative to you?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před rokem +2

      Varys a little depending on the goal of the session, and worth mixing it up as such. For example…
      -lower boom easier to manoeuvre and make transitions stay dry. Beginners use boom apx nipple to shoulder for this reason, same as freestylers and wave sailors generally around shoulder to chin.
      -higher boom easier to channel the power and get planing- hence this video, saying higher. Chin to eye height. Harder to get in/out of the harness- but your already “dropped” to power in being correctly channeled.
      All-round I’d generally say about chin height- but mix up and experiment! 👍
