Love how they just prepared the herring and then only drank the Akvavit, true swedish way

English pickled herring....fillet down the back and debone six herrings. Roll them up and place in a square baking tin. Top up with malt vinegar and shake about 1-2 tablespoons of pickling spices over them, and cook in the oven for about 30 minutes. They come out with the vinegar tastes gone and the spices enthused. They are the most delicious things you'll ever taste. I loved them as a kid and my grandad did alot of these things. I come from a famous fishing town in England called Grimsby, and we had fish of every type all the time. Try gurnets, or gueonards as the French call them. Just fry in a pan and enjoy. Sweet sweet fish. Enjoy.

After seeing the latest CIA recruitment ads, I'm sure they are more concerned with cooking than national security.

this was the best. tasted just like the expensive store bought. Remember to first freeze the herring filets for 7 days to kill worms and their eggs.

In reality, the flavour combination of the flavoured vodka (aquavit) and pickled herring is delicious - I once had a fish/spirit tasting where the host guided me through several combos... it was a revelation! (Yes, we were a little tipsy at the end).
