- I thought the Bose B1 from the L1M2 was small and light, this is even smaller and lighter and performs like a REAL subwoofer! I always saw the B1 as a mid bass module which was great for acoustic guitarists only.

Viewer comment: In response to some folks posting that the Bose S1 Pro wasn't loud enough, especially in the vocals department. Since loud and soft are relative terms I decided to measure actual decibel levels. The app I used is called Decibel X. It's a must app for all musicians. In this video, my vocal (Shure SM 58) volume is set at 3/4 with 1/4 reverb, which I changed to 1/2 after viewing this video and my instrument volume is at 1/2. What I discovered was this battery operated, 15 lb. speaker is not as loud as my my 39 lb. JBL EON615 which puts out 127 db max. SPL or my 41 lb. JBL EON One line array which puts out 118 db max. SPL. NO, this unit puts out only 103 db peak (did I mention it only weighs 15 lbs.) What does it all mean you ask? SPL stands for Sound Pressure Level and it's the primary objective unit of measure for output (NOT Watts). Continued exposure to SPL above 90 dB can cause permanent hearing damage. Remember that dB levels drop the further away from the source... the goal is to have a level of 85 dB max where the listener is, thus the reason these units have a rating of over that, which gives you some head room. I also discovered that this unit is ideal for small rooms with 40-50 people or busking. It's size and weight make this unit very, very convenient especially for solo or duo musicians/singers.
thanks for the actual sound demo!
That is impressive. That little sub kicks.
that sounds like a great sub Bill, thanks for the review.
Thanks! For the money, I didn't think real subwoofer performance was available.
I have this subwoofer connected to my computer, along with the PreSonus 3.5. ... When I set the gain control to 12 o'clock, he goes out of the room. … With 10 o’ clock he make a fantastic bass! Deep and powerfull! … It’s not possible to turn more because the speaker itself starts to stumble. … This tiny Woofer is a real Powerplant! 👍
Thanks for your input.
Thanks champ, following your video I bought one!
As luck had it I got a the last shelf stock so got 25% off :)
Glad I could help in your buying decision. You got a good deal!
This "One Man Band" works alone: hauling all gear & playing my Yamaha Genos. In Dance Halls, I use my 12" Behringer powered Subwoofer, with two 15" & two 12" Cabs. (Sure, a 15" Sub would be better, but my 12 sounds great and spares my back!). I also play a few Restaurants, where folks want to hear conversations. These gigs are easy: just two 8" cabs. Their limited output, and virtually NO low frequencies, make my Genos sound like a cheap Walmart toy keyboard--when I know it sounds like a real live band! My PreSonus Eris Sub 8 is perfect for my restaurant gigs. With it, my Genos voices once again sound like the real things, and bass lows are awesome. I use lower gain in restaurants. However, in home-studio I enjoy higher gain--I'm blown away how close it sounds to my 12" sub! Don't let the 8" speaker size make you pass this baby up. For studio, and small to medium size venues it lacks nothing. It's less than half the weight and size of my 12' Sub--yet it easily puts out 90% of the 12" sub's low frequencies and bass thump. I love this thing!
ok, so im a solo artist, I use my S1's when gigging out at small clubs, restaurants, maybe holiday parties at the house, and not looking for heavy bass, just a little extra, to match with the S1s for playing backing tracks, guitar, and vocals. Whats your opinion on that?
Guitar/vocals you don't need extra bass. Backing tracks - for full range sound you need a subwoofer. Bose Sub1 is my number 1 choice, EV ELX -12SP $100 less but a little heavier, Fishman Sub300 is least expensive and will meet your needs but you can't mount a top on the sub. Any of these subs will make a next level/night and day difference with the S1's!czcams.com/video/nPjECZgscLs/video.html
Great sound!!!!
I agree! Thanks for your feedback.
Hey Bill, I just bought the L132 I just got rid of a pair of jazz got rid of JBLVRX 32 line array. I think you did a great job representing the bose I think you're the reason I bought that I have been doing sound for 50 years and getting older L1 is much lighter. I did go with the smaller subwoofer. I don't think the sub to is a real good fit. I think it's an overkill. I'm really enjoying the clarity of this unit. Good job Bill.
I've had the Pro32 since it came out, about a year now. I'm still amazed at the performance! The super light weight is an incredible plus for gigging musicians. If I helped someone who has been doing sound for 50 years, make the right buying decision, that's the greatest compliment!
Thanks Bill! Another great video 📹 👏!
Your feedback is much appreciated! Thank you
can we use the output balanced right/left with a TRS jack cable (since the photo of the sub on amazon shows 2 speakers plugged there) but how to connect on the Bose side ?
Do you need a controller? Or can it be used with just the cables wires ?
How do you hook it up to subwoofer
Whats the s1 pro stand you are using?
Hello, I have 2 S1 Pro at my home, can I connect them to Eris sub? Can you give me information on how to connect it, thank you very much.
why not just use 1 cable TS to dual rca male ? instead of 2 cables ?
I just bought the eris sub8 and if i use the cables from sub input to Bose line out like you did, it overheats very fast and i barely hear the bass,
But if i play from Eris and use the cables from output to Bose input it works fine, just need to choose the volume from bose knob, and adjust from Eris bluetooth
Interesting, never had that issue. Maybe a cable issue??
I Think I'll put this pair in my car, idea for next video??
Great video, thanks! I just got the Bose S1 Pro, and now I want to get another along with the PreSonus sub. Great sound together. So which speaker stand did you put the Bose on, please?
Sunburst stands, very $$$$ but the only stand that folds up so small. Be careful not to extend to maximum height. If you don't need that fold up ability, I would go with a regular $40 stand that is more heavy duty. czcams.com/video/_txgiiGfCRw/video.html

Greetings, thanks for very interesting information. Please tell me which of the speakers (Bose s1 Pro or Everse ev8) will sound better paired with PreSonus 8 for busking and restaurant gigs(guitar/vocals). Thank you!
Everse 8 is the better speaker if you take the time to EQ it correctly. Everse 8 louder with better bass.czcams.com/video/fRoGRZHV1js/video.html
Hi there and thank you for all your videos. I’m looking for a home use sub to go with my S1 pros, please will you let me know how you use both S1’s in Stereo with this sub. Is it possible to use two subs, one for each S1, or do you think is this unnecessary for home use? I can afford the Bose Sub 1, but do you think that the Presonus is quite good enough for a biggish home environment? How long does the battery pack last that you are using? Sorry for all the questions, but I am super keen to get the woofer in to my life and need some direction. Thank you!
This Presonus is not loud enough for a large home environment. If you can afford the $900 Bose Sub1, if you don't play at volumes near 100dB I would go with the SVS SB2000. Let me know if interested I can explain the cabling. You don't need two subs. For a mobile set up I use the EcoFlow Pro 600 watts on Amazon. Will last 6-8 hours! @@WWeiss-nv5vz Wow! Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate you taking the time to send the products to me. Cheers!
@@simplifiedconcept make sure you are running your main audio signal into the sub first not the S1 to take advantage of the active crossover ideally balanced TRS to XLR no splitter. Even in the above example the splitter is probably useless as the signal coming out of the S1 is mono.
Hi Bill I’m not music pro i play karaoke at home I has 2 Bose s1 pro as well so please clearly how to hooks your system and what cable you used thanks for your help
Do you have a DJ controller?
I want to get that subwoofer for my Bose S1 Pro + , but I really have no idea how you attached it to the S1 side. I see the 2 RCA plugs going into the sub. I guess it’s summed the mono signal from the S1. Where on the S1 is it plugged into, what is the setting on the S1? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a bose s1 pro and an alto ts412. Always dialed at 12... Can I add an eris sub 10 for live gig?? We are an acoustic group very light set up in a small dinner
Maybe? Try it. Small sub will get lost in that large open space.
You recommend for listening to music by Bluetooth with the bose s1 pro +?
Yes! That's my bedroom system. Fills a large space with good volume.
Hello what sub would you recommend with the s1 pro for busking?
Most people don't need a sub for busking, but I'm sure you know your application. #1 choice with S1Pro is the matching Bose Sub1. Be aware you will need a powerful external battery to run it. I tried a 400 watt unit and it shut down on me playing heavy bass tracks at max volume. I use the EcoFlow Pro 600 watts. On Amazon
What brand speaker stand did u use?
Expensive, but nothing is smaller!czcams.com/video/_txgiiGfCRw/video.html
Hey bill you this sub its better than the fishman sa sub bacause the fishman its 400 and i thinking maybe the presonus its good just for practice and really small gigs just to add low end to a guitar what do you think?
You are right, the PreSonus sub is only for home /studio use I would never use it in a live situation unless it was in a small restaurant. The Fishman sub is a better performer.
@@WWeiss-nv5vz thanks sir im thinking to go lil loud with ip300 paired with bose sub 1 maybe for medium size venue like 80 to 100 people using a keyboard and guitar also for djying

Do you recommend connecting the Bose s1 pro with dm10s-sub?

I am a solo performer (guitar, vocals). Other than the portability and roadworthy issues, why do you say that this is NOT a system that could be used for a live performing application?
Depends on crowd size/noise level/size of room. Most likely for your application guitar/vocals should be fine and add the missing low end. I believe the spec 100+dB.
When I said not for live performances I was thinking 50+ people with full range electric instruments. Playing outside would be even much less performance.
I think it would be a perfect addition to a turbosound Ip3000 . I need a comparable rig for gigging. I Can't spend the $$$ for a B1 and don't want to hump a 42lb sub. Should I just buy some parts and build something similar to the Eris Sub 8? I could by a presonus and just make a road ready cabinet for it. What do you think?
iP300 Needs a subwoofer! The Eris 8 will add some nice low end but not sure if it can keep up with the Turbosound at high volume. A more powerful choice is the Fishman Sub300 at $400. It is road worthy and carries in the hand like a suitcase. 30 pounds. Downside is the pole mount is a different size from the iP300. As far as building your own, I don't know your skill level. As far as road worthy the Eris 8 would fit nicely in the heavy duty QSC K8.2 Tote bag.

@@WWeiss-nv5vz I have woodworking skills to build a speaker cabinet. Thinking of using an 8" neodymium subwoofer with 2-300watt plate amplifier. I'll size the cabinet around 10" deep, Non vented. Big enough for it to serve as a stand for my small guitar amp. I'm trying to keep it as light as possible. Hopefully around 15 lbs. I've tried a small home sub with the IP300 and it really makes it quite a bit better
15 lbs probably not. 25-30 is more like it

Hi Bill , Can we connect this S1 pro to another PA speaker using 1/4 cable ? Thanks
Yes, from the Line out, just make sure to use a 1/4" TRS cable. If you use a regular guitar cable/TS, you will lose 6dB output.
@@WWeiss-nv5vz I got my set up today and It works perfectly. Thanks so much Bill . Do you think we can add bookshelf speaker to the Sub that connect to the S1 using red and black wired?
Glad I could help with the set up! Yes, from the RCA outs on the sub you should be able to run powered speakers. Only question is, how much gain you get outputed to the speakers. Max volume on sub will be max gain to speakers. Never tried it, let me know if it works.@@huydinh3260

Might be light, sounds like shit, though. Could be the mic picking up the sound, though.
I am using my iPhone mic to make these videos so I would make no judgment of sound from my videos. Remember the S1Pro is a 6.5" speaker and the sub is 8", so really comes down to what you are comparing them to?
Yeah okay, so it's the mic then. hahaha@@WWeiss-nv5vz
