A project I've been wanting to do since the beginning. I finally got enough nerve to just GO FOR IT! It turned out better than I would have imagined. Just wanted to share my creativity with everyone. I wanted to give Steve Ramsey a shout out for inspiring me to make my own router cabinet. Thanks Steve!

So the saying I was thinking about at 1:25 is pretty old....
In 1947 the widely syndicated columnist Hal Boyle satirically advocated the founding of a new international society. Each member would keep a coconut handy to use as a weapon to attack proponents of neat desks.
It will be used to bash each and every office wayfarer who comes by and says: “A cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind.”
Wow, how did miss this? Awesome job Scott!
Well thank you sir! Coming from you I’m honored!!!
At the same stage myself so this has been a great video.
Thank you Peter! Glad you enjoyed it!
its not pretty but its functional which is all that really matters for shop furniture. Bonus points for being able to salvage parts from other cabinets. Great work
Thank you for the kind words.
Looks great. I may give this a whirl with mine.
It’s useful and thanks!
Looks good. You did a good job building the cabinet and installing the Bosch router table top.
Thank you sir
I enjoying watching these videos a lot, Scott! Thanks for sharing. You obviously know what you're doing. I find it very relaxing and interesting to watch you make something beautiful and useful out of just raw wood.
Jordan Shepherd This is very refreshing and positive to read for me. Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I’m so glad that you enjoyed these!
Excellent idea.
Thank you. I try!
Keep up the good work. That was a good job on the cabinet. I am a fellow "late bloomer" into woodworking like yourself. Give yourself time and you will nitpick your own stuff as you get better. I think i have become my own worse critic. As long as i am covered in saw dust, i don't care what anyone else things, I just love it. Good, bad or firewood.
Walter Terrell thank you sir! You are absolutely right. I’ve started to do just that.
Very nice! I got some ideas for my future projects. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Gary! Thank you so much!
I've come back to watch your presentation a 2nd time. Beautiful job on your router table & cabinet... I thought I would mention, I completed my install of this same Bosch table & plate into the RH opening on my Delta 36-725 hybrid table saw... Straight forward installation by drilling out both sides of my 1.5" cast iron rails & bolting it in dead level. I installed my 2.25 HP Bosch router beneath the plate & I recently routed a Roman Ogee on a wall shelf that holds the fence assy. when not in use. At the top of the table's fence slots I drilled a pair of keyholes for quick R&R of the fence assy.
It was an absolute pleasure using this router table & I am left with a box full of plastic parts I'll never use in either case...

William Farr That’s a brilliant idea! Very happy it’s working for you.
I am making cabinets for my table top planer, jointer, and RA1181. I wasn't happy with my cabinet design for the RA1181, but am stoked to see what you did and have totally changed my design. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! So glad that I could be an inspiration to you. I would love to see your project when it’s finished!
I have the same router table and thinking of doing something like this. Thanks for the idea.
TekNyc74 - Go for it! Glad I could be an inspiration.
Job well done sir... What U have created here is a router table far superior to the original RA1181 unit with those cheap dept. store plastic legs! I appreciate how U salvaged so much of the materials that went into this & saving a considerable amount of money in the process... I surely can envision U adding a longer fence to this unit in the future, with perhaps a T-Track to each side of the steel top. I have no doubt ya'll have the vacuum system all figured out on this already... U might want to take a look at the Rockler Pro Fence by Benchdog!
Thanks for sharing this.

William Farr thank you and I appreciate the comments and info!
That's how I feel. It's a superior top to most other router tables at the box stores but those legs are horrendous!
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome my friend!
I'd buy that! Well done sir.
Very kind words and thank you.
Nice build.
Thank you sir
I love the concept. I've had mine for like 3 years and always wished it wasn't on that stand. I had no idea the slots on the table top are so that it can be mounted elsewhere, like you've done. That's my next project, thanks for the idea!
My pleasure and thank you for the kind words.
Very nice
Thank you I try!
Nice job! The miter slot could be extended throughout wood tabletop if your going to get use of it.
Thanks! Yes, I may do that.
nice job!
Thank you sir.
Keep it up!
Troy Troyus Thanks! I’m starting again next year.
Just found your channel as I am researching designs for my own 1181 Bosch router table. I like the design as well as the resourcefulness, creativity and sustainable approach. Looks like your subscribers have grown quite a bit since you uploaded that video (1980 subscribers to this date). Congratulations.
Thanks! It’s been an interesting journey. Will start back up after the new year. Thanks for commenting.
Good video. The second and third song were brutal.
Thank you. What did you mean by brutal? Loud? Harsh?
@@SCWD_US doesn't suit the video content. The first song wasn't bad but the other songs sounded like they didn't belong. The volume was fine though
Thank you for the feedback. I try to be creative in the music selection.
Nice idea to use the Bosch routing table as an insert. I wish they sold the RA-1181 here in Europe. I might just get a US one and convert the electrical bits. Certainly less expensive than a pro-quality router table here. Al the best, Rob in Switzerland
Thank you sir. I just saw this. Sorry for the late reply. That is a great idea. Take care.
Looks good I would add some ventilation fans for the router
Johnathon Turner - Great idea! Will do and thanks!
great job!... however the wooden outlet box has me a tiny bit worried. A $5 plastic box is maybe worth the piece of mind?
Nick Correia Thanks! I don’t use it all that much. And I’m always careful.
Nothing wrong with this. Nice build
Jason Grandy - Thank you sir! I’m trying!
SC Wood Designs what’s your take in the bosh table?
Jason Grandy - No complaints so far. Some people reported they got a warped plate. I suggest making sure it's completely flat with a straight edge. Thanks for liking!
Great build! Very cool that you used some savaged door fronts and hardware. I jut recently got a R1181 and thus far love it. Cabinet build in the works but a much simpler design than yours. Thanks for sharing and giving some inspiration!
Mansfield Handyman Services - thank you! I’m very happy with the build.
You're talking about 128 subscribers in this video and now you're almost at 2000! Nice work. I'm trying to get ideas on making a custom router cabinet to store router related tools so I can free up room in my tool box.
Dude McMann Thanks! Would like to see your design.
Curious on how you are supporting the metal table under the melamine? Is there a way to level between the two?
Michael Hanley - Good question, I designed the frame so it was the right measurement to the top of the melamine. I also have set screws on the existing notches on the metal plate.
@@SCWD_US Nice! I am actually looking to do the same with the same benchtop router plate. I love the thing, but it takes up shop space. Do you have any plans written up by chance? I built this workbench docplayer.net/28130746-Do-it-all-mobile-workbench.html and I think i'll take out the center to fit the plate.
@Michael Hanley - I'm actually in the process of writing several plans. This build being one of them. It's time consuming. But I will say it's not that difficult. The footprint is rather large, but I wanted a larger router table with storage.
Found you through your reply to someone's question on Amazon. Glad to have found you, and that you decided to "toot your own horn".

One question, what router are you running in that set up?
Thanks! I used the Bosch 1617EVS. Works strong.
@@SCWD_US, awesome! I had the 1613evs and it recently passed on into the router afterlife after nearly 20 years. I was hesitant to replace it with another bosch because of mixed reviews when sorting by most recent date on Amazon and other sites. It's a little different 'seeing' someone who uses it, verses reading about someone who used/uses it.
Thanks!
I pray you have since installed a riving knife on the table saw . There is 50-50 chance you eventually will seriously cut or remove a digit if you do not . Kick back WILL happen and so fast you WILL not have any warning so as to avoid consequence .
Harry Stratton - hi, I only remove it for certain cuts. I am concerned just as much as you are.
@@SCWD_US Good to hear . :-) Check out 'Kickback on Camera ' thintz12
