- Jalen Rose explains that Dennis Rodman's claim on First Take that Michael Jordan would average 50 points in the current era of the NBA is not too far off because MJ would make more free throws since the league is less physical today.

If people truly follow Dennis Rodman... He was the true Junk yard dog. Did all the dirty work for Detroit and Chicago plus putting up 18 in Detroit. When he signed up with Chicago he didn't have to score anymore. So he decided to rebound and be a menice to the other team.

best intro of all time
If MJ played in this era, with his work ethic and winning mentality; you don’t think he would’ve learned to shoot 3s?
Mj could shoot the 3 then. The 3 was just alot harder because of players hanging on you.
Don't forget the shrug , when MJ was told before the game that he couldn't shoot threes ...... He responded immediately with knocking down the six threes in the first half , he looked over , shrugged , and said
"See , how's that ,
I can hit threes whenever I want "
The goat was and will always be .
Nobody close ......
Kobe and Mj have that MAMBA MENTALITY
Thank u man, MJ would do anything to be the best.He would work all night and learn to shot 3's with his eyes closed to win a champion .The man is a beast
Forget the 3s.. he's the best penetrator, and one of the unguardable move in the history.. 2 point fg alone would reach his points to 50. And he would avg more freethrows than harden.
I can’t remember who asked MJ but the conversation went like this:
Then: “could the Bulls from the 90’s beat the Lakers today”
MJ: “yeah by about 2-3 points”
Then: “why so close”
MJ: “because we’re 60 now” 😂
And as a lakers fan i took that one personal... But its true 😂 the 90s bulls were a cheat code.

It really amazed me of how after 22 years still talking about the Chicago Bulls of the 90’s... So proud to had seen that team play; I can die now.
The crazy thing about that team is that their 3 best players are top 20 best defenders of all time arguably top 15
This is a mismatch
Harper vs Curry - curry has no defense
MJ vs Thompson - is this a question?
Pippen vs Durant - we all know how pippen defend
Kukoc vs Iguodala - This isnt a match up at all.
Rodman vs Green - somebody send an ambulance for Draymond.
Depends on the rules
Pippen getting cooked
"Somebody send an ambulance for draymond" 😂😂😂😂
Jayson Jose Completely agree The Bulls would beat them in 5 games
We can do it the other way round:
Harper vs Curry - Harper has no offense
MJ vs Thompson - MJ is in another league, but Thompson is one of the best on-ball defenders ever, MJ still would have to work hard
Pippen vs Durant - we all know how KD scores
Kukoc vs Iguodala - this is actually a matchup, Iguodala is a far superior defender
Rodman vs Green - both great defenders, Rodman better on-ball but Green doesn't need the ball in his hands, Draymond better as a team defender.
I'd still take the bulls because of MJ, but it would definitely be a hard fought series and go to 7 games

People tend to forget that when Jordan was in his 40s, he was almost averaging 40 PPG and he even scored 50 points during the first and second season with Wizards. So Jordan in his prime would be a tough competition for Warriors at this day and age as well.
Almost 40 points at 40? Nope. He was around 25 the first season until he hurt his knee. The overall stat for the Wizards is 21 ppg. So just a little less than 40.
I love how Jalen talks about Michael Jordan You can see the urgency and his face as he knows first hand because of what the bulls did to them in the conference finals back in the day

Imagine Draymond Green having to put up with Rodman. Rodman would get Green ejected with two Techs before halftime.
The match up would be awesome. Would KD get his? Yep. Steph and Klay might have night where they get 50 combined. But by the 4th quarter, the Warriors would be spent. people tend to forget that Jordan would switch over to a strong scorer if it wasn't Jordan's natural defense opponent but that guy needed locking down. Using the triangle they'd abuse Steph so much when he was on D he'd have nothing left for the end of the game. There wasn't a need for load management. And then we should remember that Michael would psychologically brow beat the entire Warriors team while dropping 60, daring KD to keep up, and having them fall into his trap. What Jordan would do to Harden makes Stephen King afraid.

I was born in 1970. I grew up watching the greats in the 80s and 90s. Rodman is completely right on all of his takes. If the Bulls team from the 90s played now, they would be totally dominate. I don't think Golden State could make it a 5 game series. I am saying this and I was not a Bulls fan. I saw MJ and the Bulls take apart my team the Knicks with my favorite player Patrick Ewing multiple times. These kids that play now in the NBA don't know what fouls are. I really doubt most of them could handle the rough play that happened in the 80s and 90s. Go back and watch footage of the great series between the Celtics and Pistons, or the Bulls and Pistons and you will see rough play.
This is what people these days talking about the NBA and players don't understand. Jordan is the single reason why many many teams never won. There were so many teams....Jazz, Knicks, Portland, Pistons, Lakers, Cavs, Suns, Hawks, Pacers, Magic, etc., etc., etc.. No bigs today... More floor spacing... No handchecks... No hard fouls... Bruh... Jordan scored abt 30% of his teams points and shot 50% frm the field in the "straight mug him" days
44ppg eeeeeaaaaasy...
Facts bro
if Jordan score37 points or40 Its because he took 45 to50 shots
They stopped mugging MJ in 1990.
But that's just it though. People are assuming even though the 3 shot is attempted more, that Jordan would just continue shooting mid range and layups. Its pretty much impossible to know exactly what kind of shot selection Jordan would have in this era NBA. He would either have to attempt more 3 point shots which will change his shooting percentage because he will sacrifice some of his 2 point attempts for 3's, or he would have to shoot more volume 2's to make up for the lack of 3 pointers. The in game flow would also change depending on how the leads change or what kind of runs are performed. Basically what I'm saying is something in his game would have to change in order for him to adapt to this era's gamestyle.
An example is From March 3rd of 2019. Thats when Lebron James passed MJ in points. The only reason that happened is because of the 3 point attemtps by Lebron James.
Lebron accumulated 27,120 pts from 2's and Freethrows
Jordan accumulated 46,830 points off of 2's and Freethrows.
So obviously Jordan whould along the way have to change his game to keep up with the scoring in this era, so that will change his efficiency in either a posotive or negative way. But nobody knows how his game would change. Therefore its pointless to compare era's. Too many viariables to take into consideration and one variable changes the other.
@@mazengwe28 - The biggest dif between today and the 90s is PACE. I've seen no articles showing "points per possession" (per trip down the floor) have dramatically changed. The myth is any belief tht teams r just better scorers today... The truth is teams move faster.
The 90s was a slower pace... Spurs/Pistons dominated early 2000s was the slowest... And even tho Steve Nash era Suns seemed fast ("8 sec or less") in tht era... They would b bottom 10% of teams today... Which is mind boggling.
Its a faster game... Big guys r smaller and fewer in number... Paint is more open... Perhaps Jordan shoots more 3s... Perhaps he using all those extra possessions to punch on more fools... More often... More often... With more free throws. Perhaps his 50% (guards in the 90s werent all shooting tht high)... Perhaps he shoots 56% in this era...
Rodman shut down Shaq, for a half of one game (yea it's one have, but we talking Shaq) ... Held him to like 2 points
shaq wasn't guarding rodman.. and rodman wasn't asked to score.. any score from him is just a bonus..
Would the triangle offense work today? Teams don’t use half court offenses as much nowadays.
Seeing Curry guarding Jordan would be laughable. Steph would wet his shorts, literally.
Curry wouldn’t be guarding MJ.
Curry would start crying and get dunked on
Golden State would never let Curry be on him, they would have to put Klay on him.
Bitch ass curry would shitt his fkn pants!!! This shitt ain’t even debatable! 💯
@@jamesbarber9915 hell no, no white boy will ever succeed guard MJ.
I'd be more interested to see the "Bad Boys" play a healthy GSW with the 80's-90's rules. We'd see how "healthy" Golden State would be by game 2.
Dammm right 😂😂😂😂😂
Wouldn't be much of a difference, yall acting like people who lived in the '90s were racially and humanly superior to what we are today, that's hella wrong. That's one reason why people who say "if bill Russell played today he would be the most athletic human ever because of modern gyms" bitch please, people like that are saying pre-2000s was an age where humans were superior to now, it's just wrong. Yes sure '90s was definitely more physical but please it's not like they were some panzer tanks.

To be honest the pace GSW plays at alone would honestly smoke the bad boys.. they were know for being " psychical in the paint" that's about it.. definitely could not stop the 3 point game of GSW..
MJ: "We'd take the series in 7 games" Interviewer: "Really? You think so?" MJ: "Yeah, if we were to play today....hold on while I make a few calls "
I loved how they brought up the fact that Wilt Chamberlain is the only player in history to average 50 ppg to date.
Puts matters into perspective TBH
Remember Mj smacked Steve Kerr so he can play good and Kerr went off 4 20+
Made a clutch shot too.
Kerr didn’t go off for 20+ tho
Michael Jordan would dominate this era! 🐐
@@Nihilistttttt hahahaha
Kobe would run circles on Jordan!
Right
Kal-El mj would dominate any era. He is the greatest to play. He is more athletic than any other player but on top of that he also was very driven to perfect his game. No one is like that no one is the perfect athlete wth a 48 inch vertical a 4.3 40 yard dash and hands as big as Shaqs then top it off with a work ethic unlike any other look it up, so he would own any era he plays in
r mac I beg to differ. Kobe stole the original template from mj. Mj my friend was more athletic and even more determined. Kobe won a couple because of shaq. Mj equals kobe and shaq he the goat
For me the best decade of NBA in terms of rules and extent of physicality is the 2000s. It is not as physical as the 80s and 90s, but it is definitely more physical than the 2010s. Teams were also using 3s as part of their team strategy more than in the 80s and 90s but less than the 2010s.
I hope the NBA bring back the kind of physicality that is the 2010s, preferably allowing the hand checking thingy.
Nobody could guard the 🐐
90s were the best for sports
Man. Those guys would not be able to take Alonzo mourning and Karl Malone’s mean bully ball
slippery pete the late 90s Knicks would shutdown GS.
Facts
D. Robinson: Malone's elbows are no joke.
slippery pete ok but can Karl and lonzo come out to the 3pt line and play defense on kd or curry on an switch? Nooo !! They ass is grass
@@charellcoley551 they wouldn't need to because they woulda already given them some statement screens and forearms. KD is an excellent player offensively, but mentally? He would be carried off the court before half with a mental breakdown from someone actually hitting him. No need to switch when all of the warriors are fatigued from not being conditioned to play with the level of physicality that bball teams of yesteryear were.
We don't need to talk about how Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman would perform against the GSW of today. Kukoc would already have a field day against this GSW team of today.
Ya. They're not the only ones with 3 point shooters.
They only shot well when the 3 point line was shortened Lol, look at their percentage when the 3 point line went back.
Bulls in 5 no question. People don't realize how good of a defensive team they were. Every player on that Bulls teams was a great defensive player.
Except Toni Kukoc!
"Green guy? Keep your teeth straight honey and listen to yo momma." This cracks me up.
They couldn't even handle kawhi please Jordan will just have a party on this era
Steven Rivera lmaoooooo
True!!
Steven Rivera Jordan would average almost 50 in this era, he was averaging 30+ in an era who literally every says was the hardest defensive era.. come on now bro, and he wasn’t shooting 3s like crazy either
@@realtruth1448 Bro he was playing unathletic scrubs. Compare the average results from draft combines through the years. Vertical alone has risen 9 inches on average. Who guarded Jordan ??? John starks lol he wouldn't even make the league now. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug
beefcake502 Well get this then, everyone compares Kawhiis playstyle to MJ. If they couldn’t stop Kawhii, what makes you think they can stop the GOAT himself?
Imagine what Larry Bird would score draining threes all game!
I doubt still average the norms 34
I mean, Larry averaged a 50-40-90 in a 4 year stretch DURING the 80s...just think he could probably do that for maybe 6 or more years instead of 4 in the modern era
@@vanguardas9927 And Larry would have most likely been able to get a few more years under him in today's NBA. So, instead of having nine dominating years - he may have had 11 or 12...and may have retired a few years later.
No disrespect to curry but larry will probably score as much as jodan would like 50
Kareem would have a field day in today's NBA no one defends the low post..wow
love how dennis took shots at mouth breather draymond!
Remember when Mike was going against Clyde and they say Mike can't shoot 3s? So he rained 6 in a half and said he doesn't coz he didn't have to?
Fact: MJ took more hard fouls in the paint in one year, than current players will take on their lifetime.
Lebron would cry if he got hacked by Ewing, Barkley, and the whole Detroit team,...even “nice guys” like shaq and the Amiral where hammering people in the paint.
shaq was no nice guy in the paint. that was one of the people you did not want in the paint. he bullied everyone. even yao ming, the guy who blocked him 3 times going for his patented bully moves, said what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger in his speech giving props to shaq.
U dam rite .. mj would avg 50 look @ harden if can avg 30 now with these rule pleass
That's the problem with hypotheticals. You can't say that because LeBron wasn't in that era. There's nothing to suggest that Bron wouldn't be a totally different player if he was born 10 years earlier. Totally different cultures.
nightfall he would have to be born 20 years earlier. Lol
Rolly Vincoy he played bully ball on offense backing people up off the floor. His defense, he wanted those blocks. He was a guy who if he did truly hammer guys could really hurt them.
“Listen to your mama” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What about Kerr which side he choose?
Draymond would be put on Michael and michael would humiliate him!
Nah it would be Klay but Klay would still get beat
@@jaylonlawson4321 it could also be igoudala
Jordan's effective shooting percentage is a pedestrian.509 lifetime. Way lower than Klay's or KD's and way way lower than the highest by a non big in NBA history - .582 by Steph. With switching and double teaming, the Warriors would have way less to worry about with MJ than with James Harden or Kawhi.
Phil Wilson MJ had to deal with handchecking. You couldn’t stop him in today’s NBA. He would get James Harden level of free throws.
@@philwilson609 lol ur obviously like 15 years old and literally have been watching bball for like 5 years lol...MJ would DESTROY these soft ass niggaz nowadays..please bro, the NBA is soft now..if MJ dominated the NBA back then when it was actually physical, and they actually played DEFENSE, then what the fuck u think MJ would do now?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
the bulls in 4 in a hypothetical sweep against the warriors...even the bulls bench had size...but currently big ups to kahwi!
Mike Tisone Kawhi*
If MJ would average 50 points imagine the most dominant and one of the most athletic player ever played named wilt Chamberlain. He would average a record break every game
If Jordan was playing in this era he would cast just as big a shadow as he did in his own era. Just like how in his era he was the single biggest reason why many many great teams never won a championship. A lot of great teams with amazing talent that just couldn't match up to Jordan when it came to natural skill and competitiveness.
4.3 40-yard dash
48" vertical
Bigger hands than Kawhi
Yeah, MJ would struggle in this era!
LA Clippers 💯💯
i doubt mj has bigger hands than kawhi
he didn't have a 48 inch vertical that is just rumors, and people overhyping him, his vertical is 42, 43 at most
@@475818 every nba legend has a rumor about their vertical that's like 5 inches higher than their actual vertical
I saw this one windmill dunk of his when his chin was just above the rim. Given he is 6'6 with shoes and the top of his head looked maybe 6-7 inches above the rim u do think his max ever was around 48. But most of his regular and even contest dunks were 42 43 like u said. Search the dunk cuz it looked amazing I think he was wearing a blue jersey.
I dont think it would be that hard fought. The olden day men were tougher, harder mentally, had steely attitudes. These modern day social media millenials are soft.
That's the thing the older era played a more physical game but they didn't play defense if someone was better than them and they couldn't defend them they would resort to physicality
Exactly!
Boomers aren't shit lmao
@@MrZekiahwashington bulls and piston played D even new york what you talking about wills? and playoff foul was blood and tears.
@Darial Fasenntao The only rule changes the league made was the flagrant foul and that had nothing to do with protecting certain players. It was about business. Fans pay to see stars, you can´t ask fans to pay full tickets to see Jordan vs Thomas and 2 minutes into the game Mahorn takes out Jordan and 2:30 into the game Cartwright takes out Thomas. You can´t ask viewers to give up their weekend morning or afternoon to see Charles Oakley vs Horace Grant. By the same token you can´t ask networks to pay top dollar for the rights to broadcast your product when the guys who actually drive ratings get taken out a few minutes into the game. The NBA changes based on viewership and revenue. I guarantee you that in the next 3 to 4 years if we keep seeing the game move away from the basket, pretty much making anyone over 6´7 obsolete they´ll change the illegal offense rule to stop teams from going 4 out 1 in. That rule was also changed after the league say the way Chicago used Jordan early on. Couldn´t have 4 guys on the weakside of the floor.
I have never seen anyone play like MJ, no one came close unless you were talking baseball
It’s so good to see Marcus again!!!
MJ: Hey Byron Scott, Are you injured? Who’s guarding me?
Byron Scott: Peeler?
MJ: Easy 50.
Lakers vs Bullls 1992 MJ : 54pts. 13reb. 7 asst.
Only bad part is Chicago lost that game.
@Quentin Coberley they didn't get swept lol what were u watching ? And the MEDIA said he should have won. He was the best player on the court all 5 games. Which is why Iggy got the MVP because he was the only person on the team that could slow him down.
@Quentin Coberley the only time I heard anyone said something about LeBron getting the MVP after a loss was in 2015. LeBron didn't play at the same level as that year when they were swept or the year they won. KD was the most consistent and no one argued that.
