    Thank you for the details on this. My husband has a Ford F150 and both back doors on his extended cab would not open. We took it to our local Ford place and scheduled an appointment to have it fixed for 800/1,000 dollars. That evening I decided to check out videos to see how hard it would be. My husband and I are both in our mid 70's and saving money is our goal. I ended up purchasing the parts for each door and decided to take on the task. My husband has some dementia going on so I knew I was on my own. In two hours I had the first door done and working. This video was the best in the seven I had looked at so thank you. Your teaching was great.

    Your video was PITCH PERFECT!!! I followed your video step by step on my 2007 F150. Everything was exactly as you stated and went very smooth! I totally disagree with those comments that say there is a ‘cheaper fix’ buying those replacement cable clips/latches. There was NO WAY to access all clips without major disassembly of the latching mechanisms, including drilling out rivets. Thanks a million!!!

    WOW!! Just opened the access area behind the handle and found that one of the cables (lower) came out of the holder on the main bracket. I pulled on the cable and opened the door, unscrewed the bracket, placed the cable back into the holder on the bracket, tightened it and then reattached the main bracket to the door and DONE! Thanks so much! Strong work!!

    This method works like a champ. I used another video for how to disassemble in one piece, and reinstall… but this part list and replacing the entire mechanism is the right way to go. Do NOT try to replace the plastic boots on the cables with metal boots. Ops checked, it doesn’t work.

    I have a 2004 f-150 and both rear doors wouldn't open. I bought new cable ends ( aluminum ) from amazon. $11.. Did all work myself in driveway in about 2 hrs.. All better now.. I see how replacing everything would be so easy, however why spend so much extra cash ? You did a very good video for sure though..

  • @rawpraisehorn
    @rawpraisehorn Před 5 lety +2

    You do not need to replace the whole assemby anymore , only replace the new style (metal not plastic) cable ends. I just bought 8 of them for less than $15.00 . This is such a common problem that a whole bunch of companies make them now. I could have made them myself on my lathe but for less than $2.00 each it was more cost effective just to order them on Amazon.

Go to SHOP AMAZON on your computer or device and type in " f150 rear door cable ends " and up pops a whole bunch of choices for ordering the same part. Zombition just go to ebay and type "f150 rear door latch". You need 1 set(4 pcs) for each door. IMO You should get 2 sets and redo both doors even if the other door still works, it won't last much longer.

    This has been a fantastic video, but I ran into a huge problem. I replaced the latch on the passengers side of our 2007 F150 and it works perfectly. I then replaced the latch on the drivers side and when I closed the door to check it, it wouldn’t open. The upper mechanism works, but the lower part doesn’t even when I pull up on the cable manually. I can’t for the life of me get that door open to do anything with it now. Any suggestions?? I’m desperate and don’t want to have to take it into my mechanic.
