  • In this video we will show you how to replace the window motor for a Ford F150 between the years of 2004-2008. I believe this video will also work or be very similar to the Expedition and Super Duty of this
era. Doing this simple repair yourself will save you hundreds of dollars for maybe an hour of your time. Thank you for watching!

Was going to have to pay 250.00 for getting this repair done in a local shop even after removing the panel and all parts necessary to simply replace it. (And I purchased the part myself separately which was another 96.78). But after watching this I decided to just do it myself and it worked like a dream. I was super intimidated before watching because of the very tight space to work on inside the door panel but this out my apprehensions to rest and got it done in an hour like a pro and it's working perfectly. Thanks so much for your very patient, thorough and possibly explained video.. You sanded me a wad of hard earned cash. Keep up the

You forgot the bolt for the motor.... when putting the new one in im watching saying dude the bolt for the motor the freaking bolt for the motor dude then you started putting the plastic and the panel on and i said yyyoooo the moottoorrrr. but great video👍🏽 thanks. I'm on the passenger side it doesn't wanna go up but I think cause the window switch on the passenger side is not connected to complete the circuit if thats how it works i usually do suspension work not electrical interior its my grandpa's truck he left the door panel and switches at home and im at my house working on it.

I just followed your video and was able to replace my passenger side front electric window regulator. The window went down and did not go back up. Your step by step video allowed me replace the regulator in about an hour. Your tips with the positioning of the window clamps saved me so much time and money! Although after I replaced the door cover and hooked up my wires to window switch, somehow, pushing the window button up, the window goes down and pushing the window button down and the window goes up??? Not a bug deal.

Just finished the job thanks to this excellent video, Thank you! note: @ 5:28 you might just want to loosen those bolts enough to reduce the clamping pressure on those window clamps. Had same issue as others.. down is up, and up is down. Noticed a jumper between the old (bad) motor and the door wiring. I assume this switches polarity. Sucks because the jumper used a different motor connector. I guess I'll have to find a different jumper; gonna live with it now though. Thanks again for this video! I never would have tackled this job without it.

Tried opening the window yesterday and heard a crack and the window started going down by itself. Had to take the door panel off so I could get the window back up so it doesn't get rained in. Ordered the regulator. Going to take a week to come in from Amazon. I currently have the door panel in the back till the part arrives. Had to get my wife to open the door from the outside so I could get out without having to crawl into the passenger side to get out, lol

Just did this, and taking the door off was really annoying since it was raining outside when my window decided to drop down while my wife was driving it. She said she heard a big bang. She drove back, and here I was at night, in the rain, door open and trying to get the door panel off. Luckily drove it under a car port overnight until I got the part today. I watched this video and I was like "Omg this is gonna take me hours" --
Got the part, took the old one out, which got stuck and took me 20 minutes. Cables were twisted, all messed up. Taped the window which was luckily not broken with packing tape after I pushed it up (before I took the old regulator out).
Wasn't wearing gloves so after handling the new one out of the box, my hands were covered in silicone. I had to wash them for 5 minutes in hot water to get it off, then I could get some gloves on. Then I went outside, folded it up, push it in and it had bolts already on so they just slid right in. Took 5 minutes, then I plugged the thing in and made the pad things that grip the window go all the way up into the window, screwed the bolts down to secure it, then voila, all done. 10 minutes to get the new regulator in and window working.
So now I'm inside for a bit, waiting for a while as I do some other work, then I gotta go out and put everything back together which I am sure is going to take 30 minutes or more. Getting it all apart was hard enough, but all in all, if you have the part I estimate it should take 1 hour 30 minutes total from disassembly to back together. I watched like 5 videos last night and this one stood out, and this is the one I watched 5 minutes before I installed the part again. Amazing video.
Part cost me 44 dollars, and for me almost 2 hours when it's all back together I am sure, so if I made 30 bucks an hour at my job then that's a loss of 60 bucks. So total 104 dollars vs quoted cost of 350 bucks. That's 250 bucks saved.

So, the problem I seem to have, is that the Driver's window switch seems to work backwards. It works fine, otherwise. I'm guessing the window regulator is a DC motor, which means it's highly likely the wire harness for it has it's wires switched. If you could do a video on that part, or even just reply if there's something else I should look at, I'd really appreciate it. This video is perfect for telling me how to get in there to check the connection. (second hand truck, and there's been a few other small repairs that were kind of janky, so I suspect someone changed the window regulator and didn't connect it correctly when they put it back).

2006 Ford Expedition E.B. my driver's side window regulator cable broke and the window came out of track. Do I need anything special to secure the window in the new track when I replace the regulator? Does the window sit in the track with an adhesive or something else like clips secure it? If my window came out of the track and it is secured by clips where do you get the clips?

I know this is an old video, but I found it very informative. It'll really help me with the repair. One question I do have is, my window is stuck about 1/3 of the way up. It won't go up or down. Can I tape it in the position its in, or should I loosen the window clamps mentioned, raise it manually, then tape it in the closed position?

Yeah you can, you just want it in a workable position that won't fall on you while you un bolt things. Thanks for watching!

Bolts most likely, this was on a 2005 so they are probably the same. Thanks for watching!

How would you bring the window up if the motor is totally dead and the window is in the 100% down position?

I heard that 04 F150 parts are interchangeable with 04 freestar Parts and was wondering do you think that window regulator would fit in 04 freestar passenger side?

You might want to mention those plastic pieces that the front speakers fasten to when trying to re-install the panel. And that the rear speaker screens (on the crew cabs) should NOT be removed from the door panel.

I do I make sure it's the window regulator and not something else causing the window problem?
Your video will be very helpful if it is the window regulator, Thank you.

Usually its the regulator that brakes but it could be a switch or fuse. Thanks for watching!

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  Před rokem

If the motor doesn't turn at all or is noisy. Probably the motor. If the line snapped or is off track. It's regulator. But honestly it's usually best to replace both. Thanks for watching!
