I'm based in the Scottish Highlands and I use a VW campervan to access the great outdoors, where I climb hills, ride my e-bike or gravel bike and just visit some of those places I've never been to. I've been climbing hills and mountains all over the world for 50 years and I'm a former editor of Climber Magazine and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

A lot of people don’t realise that pedalling in too high a gear (slow cadence) drains the battery more quickly as the motor is essentially being “overworked” so has to suck a bit more energy from the battery.
Pedalling at a faster (say 80 rpm) cadence in a lower (bigger rear cog) gear improves the battery life.

I have a Himiway cruiser with a key display. Seems like when working the bike a bit hard like climbing a hill the battery builds a bit of heat and drops some voltage which results in dropping a few bars. Then as the battery cools it regains some voltage back. My key displays voltage is on a percentage scale. It always regains about 25 or 30% when you stop for five or six minutes and the battery cools off. I don’t worry about it too much anymore.

    The bars represent the battery voltage . You can reset the voltage level for 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 bars ... 54 v being full and 40 v being the lowest before cut off .

My Bafang display does same on hills. I think its a bit of a predictive gauge based on current load.

I think so but it can be a bit disconcerting when you're miles from home and it suddenly drops from 4 bars to 2!I

@@CameronMcNeishOutdoorsI'm a Bafang user as well. You just get used to it. I've used mine for commuting for about 2 years now.

This is a lovely bike , the only concern i have is rhe advanced gears . The drivetrain is one from the dollar store . Would it be possible to swap it for something nicer , like Shimano Deore or bettter ??

      Don’t see why not.

@@CameronMcNeishOutdoors theres a ton of second hand 26 inch MTB s on the market , since 29 inch is the standard folks are selling them by the masses . And sometimes dirt cheap. Im thinking of buying one , riding it for a while and buying a cruiser next year and maybe swapping the gears that could solve a lot ,including the Clown pedalling and the off road abilities.

I’ve just bought the Himiway Zebra and love it but but no after sales service whatsoever so if it goes wrong good luck trying to get anybody to answer an email 🤬🤬🤬🤬nice video though mate😊

In first instance contactgcustomers_uk@himiwaybike.com. There is a UK office and warehouse, but it's a strange warranty. If they have to ship parts then the customer has to pay the shipping costs. That's weird. I've had a lot of help from Himiway but that's from their publicity department. Let's hope nothing goes wrong.

Hi Cameron, many thanks for this and all of your videos. Love them. A quick question. Where did you buy your bike from in Scotland? Cant seem to find a retailer. Don

You buy Himiway bikes online. They try to keep prices down by cutting out the middle man. I believe they have an office and warehouse in London but best to check out their website. I’ve put all the details in the intro.
