What is matcha? Matcha is a type of green tea with that is made by grinding the tea leaves into a fine powder. It has many benefits and a long history in Japan, where it was originally consumed by monks in Kozanji temple during meditation. In the 1100s. It was prepared by mixing the ground powder with water. In Uji, Japan, tea culture and the use of matcha in tea ceremonies became popular and helped to establish matcha as a revered beverage. I really appreciate this video because before you asked for us to buy your tea you taught me everything about it
Thank you for your feedback!
in Chinese 抹茶 (Mocha) has a long history dating back to 1,600 years ago the Wei and Jin dynasty but really thrived during the Song dynasty ( 960 - 1279 AD)
Oh interesting, this is good to know. All the sources I've seen say Song Dynasty but it would make sense for it to have been earlier
It's important to know that ALL matcha products are good from a health viewpoint.
The ratings 'better' or 'best' are about artistic values --taste, fragrance, appearance.
Yes they all matcha green tea healthy and good for system...
Sure, but I'd argue more nutrient dense harvests have relatively higher yields of L-theanine and caffeine.
@@unknownentity8256you can just double-dose a way cheaper matcha. 🤷♀️
The matcha I received in the sampler were all amazing. I highly recommend it to anybody interested in Matcha. The Green tea mega sampler also, which includes their matcha and leaf tea. I had almost an entire month of green tea that told a story across Japan all from the convenience of my office chair while I worked. Fantastic. Thank you Nio Teas for constantly providing such amazing quality tea :).
Yeah I disagree... macha tastes like a combination of grass, soil, healing hearbs, medicine, and drugs.... not very tasty and it made me slightly sick..
@@blockwarrior0088 so obviously if you don’t like matcha my comment wasn’t for you. Lol
had my first cup of matcha (as we speak) on ice with almond milk.... im so happy ive tried it. Never gonna stop drinking it
Im so glad you like it! Thank you so much for watching
I love the fact that the Japanese tea ceremonies for matcha says everyone is equal
I've never had matcha but have been interested in it as a tea drinker. Good to know that higher quality matcha is available overseas without breaking your bank.
There is one we have that is really smooth but also quite affordable. it's an okumidori matcha from Mr. Noike in Kyoto: nioteas.com/products/matcha-tea-noike
I have been getting into matcha these days. Mostly been ceremony grade matcha its a beautiful flavor. I recently got a matcha tea kit. My first ceremony matcha has such a natural sweetness. The color was so vibrant and beautiful. Even though there not cheap to buy its worth trying.
Thank you, I'm so glad you said that. I'm trying to convince people that this natural sweetness is worth it but I always worry that people are so used to sugary drinks that this premium matcha is a lost art :( I'm happy to know people still appreciate it
a year before I didn't know I'd become a tea person and completely ditch coffee in exchange of tea till I met my one true love matcha.
Im so glad to hear that! Have you gotten a chance to try any of our matcha yet?
Same!!!!
2:34 Also, the reason why the entrance to the tea room (Nijiriguchi) is so small like the rabbit hole in "Alice in Wonderland" is that everyone goes into the tea room, sits down, and has tea in the same way, ignoring their status. Merchants, samurai, peasants, and even Kampaku and Shogun, all as one person, enter the tea room and have tea ... In fact, there was a "sword rack" outside the old tea room. If the samurai wears a long sword on his waist and tries to enter from Nijiriguchi, the sword will be caught in the small entrance and he cannot enter. In the world of the Warring States period, was the tea room the only space where there was true contact between people without any social status?
yes I think we mention this in other videos! I think the sword rack is really cool, unfortunately I didn't get to see it in the teahouse I went to
Maybe there was no shogun when you entered the tea room 🤡‼️
Thank you. My first iced matcha tea was from Dunkin Donuts. It gutted me out and I drink it almost everyday now, sometimes several times a day. Love it. I do take a break from it from time to time tho. Thank you again for sharing this info❣❣🥰

I appreciate your easy to follow educational video - now I understand the processing of the teas ... I've always stayed away from matcha because I try to stay away from caffeine but didn't realize it also contains l-theanine of which I am familiar and take on occasion to reduce anxiety. Thank you .. will be going out to pick up some today 😊
And L-Theanine interacts with the caffeine present in tea, toning it down, while still offering its health benefits!
Yes yes and yes !!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it

Japan is amazing country and production
it really is an amazing country!
@@Nioteas yes true... respect the japan country... all product from japan is high class. High value in market place
but the matcha is spread from China to Japan, not invented by Japan, you should say that the Chinese are very amazing😅
I love matcha ❤💕

Could be a bit more in depth but excellent visuals. Really liked the whisking shots!
thank you so much! What else would you like to know?
@@Nioteas I really liked the bit about the growing techniques. The shade affecting the nutrient content. That and firing/roasting techniques for some teas. Sorry if you've already done videos and I just haven't seen it yet!
I have a question. If you can't buy the Matcha Green Tea powder online, what places can you buy them locally?
you can get them online but you have to be careful with a lot of brands on Amazon for example. You can get the matcha from us directly at nioteas.com
Thank you. How much water can I use?
You can use 100ml of water for 2 grams of matcha. If you want to learn more about tea brewing, you can watch this video here: czcams.com/video/ExtFskrOHUQ/video.html
♥️😍😍😍
I now better understand the Matcha Tea scene in The Karate Kid with the Okinawan female.

yes if you want to get some of the good stuff you can try ours: nioteas.com/collections/ceremonial-matcha
I bought sencha tea, put it in a coffee grinder and ground it into a fine powder and that's how I got matcha tea 😁🤣🖐️🍵
was it really bitter? there's a lot of work that goes into matcha so that it doesn't taste bitter as a powder
Hint: LINE your stomach, Before drinking Matcha. Some people cannot handle Matcha on an Empty Stomach, but if they eat something first (usually a small sweet snack is ok)(or it could be your normal and usual Breakfast in the morning), pause (let the food digest for a short period of time), THEN have their Matcha, they usually don't feel any Upset Stomach. Try it, and see whether it works for you. I hope it does, as the Enjoyment of Matcha is a very Unique Experience in Tea Drinking. There is no other Substitute. v/r "The TEA Spectator" :o)
yes this is good advice! I just made a video about the acidity of matcha
7 samples for 26usd? so 7 cups of matcha for 18gbp really?
yes that is the cost. If you want to get it for less, you can buy a single matcha like the noike matcha which will be $29 for 50 grams or 25 cups of tea and it comes with a free matcha sampler and free shipping
@@Nioteas Why would you make the samples at such a high price, the idea is to pay as little as possible when it comes to samples and then pay what would be expected once you decide, i would have bought from here but im not going to pay those prices just for some small samples sorry.
@@iDTecKt thats fine if you don't want them, we have to run a business so that is what we need to charge for the samples. People pay a premium for variety and it costs more money to source from multiple locations, package them together and ship them around the world
@@Nioteas well said
The Chinese are grateful to the Japanese for spreading Chinese matcha culture around the world. Chinese culture is amazing, very many, very beautiful and has a long long history, But most Chinese culture is spread by the Japanese, not the Chinese. Because ancient China was too powerful to be conceited.
yes there are a lot of Japanese traditions that started in China
my matcha is fake
oh no! it might be time to treat yourself to some of the good stuff
Very expensive!
Can anyone back up their claim that L-Theanine the reason that Japanese teas come out savory and sweet?
www.researchgate.net/publication/7210393_Molecular_and_Sensory_Studies_on_the_Umami_Taste_of_Japanese_Green_Tea
Have your teas been checked for radiation?
the radiation testing is done on both the prefecture level and the individual farm level
I tried a matcha boba smoothie and it tasted NASTY, like a combination of grass, dirt, medical leaves, medicine, and drugs. Dont recomend...
I'm sorry to hear that!
Matcha is from Japan? If you don't know history, just shut up. Teach yourself from google or wikipedia first.
Dude, he literally said that Japanese monks studying Buddhism in China brought it back to Japan from China. Listen before you comment
so your speciality is this special tea
we specialize in sourcing Japanese green tea. Matcha is probably the most famous, but there are quite a few others like gyokuro, sencha, hojicha and more!
I have contacted your company on Instagram and through email about my missing order that was over $150 and still have gotten no response…. I don’t know why you are ignoring me. Please let me know
