Wow. Intelligent dialogue about a real problem with commitment to a rational solution. Sounds like just the kind of story that both sides of the mainstream media will not run tonight. I'd vote for either of these guys for president.
This is extremely important. We are overspending and the people we vote into leadership cant work this out as a team. We need to get this under control yesterday. Thank you Mitt, we will miss you!

Life long democrat here. While I may disagree quite vehemently on some of Senator Romney's economic and social policy prescriptions, I respect him enormously as a man. He's a thoroughly decent human being, committed to his family and he clearly believes in doing the right thing even when for him personally there's a heavy price to pay.
Many years from now - assuming authoritian cults of personality dont win out - when we can look back ckear eyed on this dark period of our history I think we'll be able to recognise what the likes of Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney and sadly only a few others on the GOP side were honest and brave enough to say.
The cowards that either remained silent, or worse acted as enthusiastic enablers like Gaetz, Hawley, Graham Rubio and Cruz to name just a few of the worst invertebrates I don't think will come out well. That's an understatement.

I have an idea where they can cut. How about their salaries? If they miss deadlines, dock their pay three percent of their annual salary for every day they go past the first deadline. And extensions count toward that time. If they extend for thirty days, they're losing ninety percent of their pay for the year.
