- In this video, we’re going to be exploring a DLC-sized Subnautica mod that literally adds two new biomes to Subnautica along with adding new elements to the game’s story, introducing new flora, fauna, and leviathans, and adding new equipment and base pieces each of which can be constructed with the many new resources now found throughout the Crater. The amount of new content this mod adds to the game is honestly jaw dropping so without any further ado, let’s dive right in...

All the mods in this video were created by Reika and are available to download below. Scroll to the bottom of each page, find the downloads section, and click the "Via GitHub Releases" button in order to do so. You'll want to install all the mods at once in order for everything to work properly. More information about each of the mods can be found by clicking the download links below as well.

These mods are for legacy Subnautica only so you can only play them on Steam if you rollback to before the 2.0 update. In order to rollback, simply head over to Steam Library and right-click on Subnautica. Select Properties, then Betas, and click on the arrow to select legacy - Public legacy builds.

Hope you guys enjoyed this video! I have a few quick notes I'd like to add:
I talked to the creator of these mods, Reika, after uploading this video. It turns out I was mistaken and there have not been any plans to actually model and put the "Abyssal Terror" leviathan (the one in the Void that grabs the player with its tentacle) in the game so that it actually attacks the player after grabbing them and dragging them down deeper into the Void. However, I may or may not have convinced them to do so, which would be absolutely amazing to see. Additionally, the wreck I showed at 18:51 was actually not added by this mod and exists in vanilla Subnautica. I mistook a simple ease of access command for a command leading to a new wreck lol. Not that game changing, but thought I should let y'all know :)
Will these mods eventually be ported to 2.0?

What's the name of the mod. I know it's made up of multiple mods but it would be easier to find if it had a name as a whole.
Also I think it would be cool if the void Leviathan caused the players vision to go all blurry and have a heartbeat sound effect play in the background. This is meant to represent the player going insane and is a nice homage to H.P Lovecraft and Lovecraftian horror which often had showed how some things are so alien that the knowledge of its existence is enough to drive a person insane.
I love how subnautica is still being loved by its community and still being modded

The creature add ons are what really make the mods stand out imo
I just wish you didn't have to play legacy to use them. I started in 2.0, and I feel like I'd lose so much. Plus, I can't even find some of the mods like Return of the Ancients. I wish 2.0 hadn't broken the whole modding scene
The blood kelp eating like Venus fly traps is really cool, as if the blood oils are made from the blood of animals they catch.
It makes sense that they would be carnivorous, given how little light there is for vegetation in that zone.
I always thought that it looked like a mouth, and I would scream so hard I would poop my pants if I got attacked by a blood kelp because since I was a child, I had a big fear of plants!

I really love these mods, not only does it fit the game, but I love the new creatures. I feel like they fit the ecosystem and landscape of the biomes very well.
Yeah, I totally agree. It's not often you see mods where at least some components really seem like they would fit in vanilla.

the glass forest has a fanmade leviathan that went with it called the silence, im hoping that its in development because it was a really cool concept

@@ReikasMinecraft i only saw it on tiktok but it seemed like a cool concept, basically its texture is completely dark and you cant see it unless its in front of the kelp, and it would only make very quiet but aggressive sounds and attack randomly. idk if it was ever a real concept or not but it seems cool
@@neon_wolf3057 I have never seen such a thing, which makes me wonder what you meant by associating it with the Glass Forest (which in all likelihood is newer than this concept art, as I first designed it last September).

anthomnia or igp made a video about this leviathan. it basically doesnt really exist yet, but it can kill you already, your screen turns static (like in old broken TV's), you hear an eerie noise and just die lol
Someone needs to add the Single Cell Biome to this game. It was a biome that was cut from the original game and it looks really interesting and horrifying.

Well, I think that's partly because subnautica's player base is a lot more enthusiastic about there game, than minecraft's player base.
i love how the mods added cut content like the single cell biome's mechanic of dragging subs down, and plants that react to the player by shrinking and attacking. the devs originally wanted to add this but decided not to, but then the modders come and do it anyways lol

I think this would work well if it could integrate creatures and assets from the De-Extinction mod (like the Gulper Leviathan instead of a Ghost leviathan)
The blood kelp mouth thing is honestly galaxy brain. It makes so much sense!!! After all, it produces BLOOD oil. To expand on this idea, it would be cool if you could feed the plant fish (or youself, I guess) to get it to produce blood oil faster. And I guess thar would mean you can use the oil in the bioreactor?
Facts lol, it's seriously such a good idea. It definitely should have been in vanilla.

Subnautica modders be like "LETS ADD A BILLION LEVIATHANS AND MAKE IT SUPER DARK" like wow thats so fun
With the alkali vines I imagine a precursor stash with a tunnel entrance in a similar vain to the huge coral tube in the safe shallows that’s absolutely lined with the stuff. There could be broken precursor structure parts and maybe a reaper skeleton, all revealed fully as the vines shrink away to add a more ominous/ mysterious atmosphere.

a good mod would be one where kharaa actually does kill you, if you don't cure it within a time limit. (for a human, the incubation period is about a fortnight), and the timer starts from the first self-scan that tells you you're infected. for experienced players only. fun fact: Kharaa means 'cursed' in mongolian.

They affect entirely different creature classes.....except for one species.

it'd be nice to have a more in-depth look into what all the different base pieces do. that part of the video left me wanting. never just "presume" that something does something. test. maybe work on that next time. the rest of it was great, though! you've got a real eye for good mods :D

People *say* the mods work with Nitrox, but I am honestly shocked if it does; I reference *the* player all over the codebase, and wrote everything with the assumption of a single player (for example "despawn when far from player" logic).
If i had a PC i would explode it with subnautica mods
i would love if the void tentacle creature is never going to be seen, only its tentacles. it would add to the fear of the unknown.
