- Upon arrival at the Shadow Realm, Thor, Jane Foster, and King Valkyrie attempt to locate the children, realizing they have fallen into a trap. They find out that Gorr intended to take Stormbreaker in order to utilize the Bifrost Bridge to access Eternity, where he could wish for the extinction of the gods. They battle Gorr and his shadow monsters but are forced to flee back to New Asgard since Valkyrie and Jane are wounded. Before Stormbreaker can transport them across the Bifrost, Gorr manages to steal it.

The effects were actually pretty amazing, and Gorr's character was just phenomenal. Design, performance, everything. Why'd they have to go and ruin it with silly, useless humor?

Nice to say but... Just not true. It was a bad movie.
To some extent, I sympathized with Gorr, even though I didn't agree with him kidnapping the children. He lost everyone he loved and knew, including his daughter. After he realized that the gods of, whom he worshipped did not care about their worshipers and would leave them to die. He had lost faith in them and was lost in grief and anger. When his daughter was resurrected and he said goodbye to her it was touching. Especially him entrusting her to Thor and asking him to take care of her made me emotional.

Well, once again Monsieur la Waititi lobotomizes the source material and misses its point. Much like he did with Ragnaschlock. In the comics Gorr isn't meant to be sympathetic, let alone redeemed. The whole point is that he's a hypocrite who does the exact thing he accuses gods of doing, and therefore he does not deserve a happy ending. In the comic he gets mutilated and then beheaded while his last moments show him being mocked by the projection of his dead son. Waititi just looked at the pages of the comic where Gorr buries his kid and thought that's what the villain is, some sad dad that just wants his kid back. No, that's not who he is. But then again, I'm putting too much thought into discussing a movie made by a person that has the creative intelligence of a doodlebug.

The Gorr scenes are definitely underrated even if more could have done with the character in this film.
Christian Bale alone carried the burden of this garbage, though he’s given very less screen time. He nailed each and every scene he’s been involved in. What a performance… intense and matchless
ironically if they had just toned down the comedy it would have been actually good, just look at guardians of the galaxy 3 for reference

Some movies you right off as 100% bad but these really show an artistic vision as Gorr is just so interesting and intimidating here.
What an utter waste of a great villain, Comic Gorr was a beast and they had so much material to go on, this is a guy who beat three Thor's at once, a guy who imprisoned, tortured and slaughtered pantheons of gods and this was the best they could come up with? Pathetic.

This movie was my biggest disappointment, I'm a huge Thor fan and I really like Gorr in the comics but what they did to him in the movie is just awful. In the comics, he stood out for exceptional cruelty, was a master of torture, and in the film they made him a clown who decided to kidnap children. The film was meant to be dark and depressing, not an entertainment attraction. Thor has turned into a clown and a hysteric who talks to his weapon, and this weapon makes him jealous. God this is so gross

He wasn't, he just tried to delay them long enough to make them want to leave. He sped it up by injuring Valkyrie.
He's almost as strong as Thor, immensely durable and faster than Thor.
Even if he couldn't kill Thor himself, he didn't need to, he needed to make sure stormbreaker wasn't damaged to make his wish.
Killing Thor may have destroyed stormbreaker for all he knows.

Thors epic fight with gladiator hulk, thor tricking the god of mischief, thor bruce and val escaping sakaar, thors second fight with hela his vision of odin and thors last entry with that immigrant song🔥 that movie basically showed thor at his lowest and then his triumph in the climax.surtur completing the prophecy of ragnarok and mark mauthersbaugh music all the way to the post credits where thanos's ship ambushes statesman. That transition from ragnarok to infinity war was awesome. Thor and his crew all the way surviving ragnarok and all its chaos then gets greeted by thanos and his army. In my opinion those times were peak MCU and peak thor.the first portions of the thor 1 was great but the movie went downhill after thor ended up on earth and in case of thor 2 everything was forgettable including the villain. That movie also featured one of Thors strongest enemies 'kurse' but people dont even remember him. Anyone that says thor 2 was better than ragnarok is just delusional. I know many people had problem with ragnaroks light hearted tone and humour but unlike love and thunder, Ragnarok humour landed and the movie wasn't silly like love and thunder. Love and thunder story was mostly predictable unlike ragnarok

This scene, its atmosphere, art style, mood, meaning.. this is what Thor 4 could have been in its entirety if only Taika had some self-reflection concerning his jokes. Don't get me wrong, I prefer people endlessly optimistic who would make fun of everything over overly negative and dry ones, but themes and characters of this film needed fucking dignity. You don't treat cancer with jokes. You don't treat a monster who steals children and slays gods in the name of his daugther with jokes. You don't give this role to Christian Bale and then you make him into a fucking sleezy joker.
This scene shows the peak of Taika's talent. This scene shows his sense for comic book action that was unmatched across this and Ragnarok. And then the rest of the movie happens.

Stormbreaker is the key because it has the power of summoning Bifrost. The real key is Bifrost not Stormbreaker. And the mold of the Stormbreaker had not been made just before it was forged. When Thor arrived at Nidavellir, the mold of the weapon was already there. So the mold was made maybe 1,000, maybe 5,000 years ago, we don't know that. And the children didn't fight with Gorr, they did fight with his shadow monsters.
Too bad Valkyrie looks like a dumpier Jenny from the Block. They REALLY dropped the ball on casting that one.

So many scenes was wasted, this should be the movie where we see the most emotional thor, even gorr's character had so much potential.
