Looking for the perfect city to call home? Look no further than Erie, Pennsylvania! In this captivating video, we unveil the countless reasons why Erie stands out as the ultimate place to live in the United States. Brace yourself for a wealth of enticing features that make Erie a dream destination for individuals and families alike.
    🏡 Affordable Housing:
Finding affordable housing in today's market is a daunting task, especially for hardworking individuals and families. However, Erie offers a refreshing alternative. According to a report published by the National Association of Realtors and Realtor.com, a staggering 51% of earners nationwide make $75,000 or less, with only 23% of available home listings deemed affordable for these households. In larger cities, this drops to a mere 5% to 10%. Erie, on the other hand, boasts an average home price of only $165,000, making it an affordable haven for homebuyers.
    🚦 No Traffic Headaches:
Bid farewell to the daily grind of traffic jams and endless commutes! Erie offers a refreshing change with very low traffic problems and short commutes to everything. Navigating the city is a breeze, and you'll never have to worry about finding parking-abundant, cheap, or even free parking spaces are aplenty.
⚓ Erie is a Port City:
Imagine waking up to the serenity of a picturesque port city, nestled on the shores of Lake Erie. Erie, PA is exactly that! This stunning location is home to the awe-inspiring Presque Isle State Park, boasting 11+ sandy beaches, boat ramps, hiking trails, and a 13.5-mile bike and rollerblading trail. Our beautiful large bay is perfect for sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, and fishing. Speaking of fishing, Lake Erie offers some of the best sport fishing in the country, with world-class opportunities to catch steelhead, smallmouth bass, and walleye.
    💧 Abundant Fresh Water Supply:
Water scarcity is a growing concern worldwide, but not in Erie, PA. While regions across the US face drought and diminishing water supplies, Erie boasts an abundant, clean, and affordable drinking water system. Our public water is crystal clear, free from discoloration or odor, and can be enjoyed straight from the tap. Lake Erie, the fourth-largest lake in North America, holds a staggering 110 cubic miles of water, ensuring a reliable supply for generations to come.
    🌍 Climate Resilient:
When it comes to climate change resilience, Erie is at the forefront. Researchers have identified much of the northeast United States, particularly cities surrounding Erie, as the most resistant to the effects of climate change. While other regions battle hurricanes, mudslides, drought, flooding, and wildfires, Erie remains a safe haven for those seeking a stable and secure environment.
Join us on this exciting journey as we explore the hidden gem that is Erie, PA. Experience the charm, affordability, natural beauty, and resilience that make Erie the best city to live in the US. Don't miss out-watch the video now and let us show you why Erie should be at the top of your list!

That tower on that pier was where I tried to propose to my fiancée, after we had dined at Smuggler's Wharf (that place with the vines all over it). However, it was the middle of November, and it was cold as hell! Instead of going up there, we went to the museum where they were doing a presentation about the sunken boats in Erie. After all that fun, we went home and I just popped the question when we got home, hah.
Erie is pretty good. It's easy to get tripped up on the doom and gloom, but Erie really is "what if a quite small town was actually a really big city?", and there is definitely an appeal to that.

You listed that home for 185,000 perhaps, but it sold for $196,000. Additionally, that's in the city itself, which is the only area in the county that has more than 10 homes for sale under $200,000. There are 25 total homes for sale under $200,000 in the entirety of Erie County currently, excluding the city. As of 2021 the median household income for Erie County was $40k according to US Census. It would be a struggle to make a mortgage over $120k with that kind of income. There are about 70 homes in all of Erie County that meet that criteria. There are more homes for sale over $250,000 in Erie County than below $150,000, much less budgetable at 40k a year. Not to mention the majority of homes for sale in the city proper are in relatively high crime areas, and the schools are under performing at all grade levels. Oh, and at 7% interest, that 170k home will end up costing half a million.

Liked the video, and living here most of my life with only a couple years of living in Florida, I just wanted to say Erie has some negative aspects as well, but everyplace does, so did Florida. I use to be one of those people who said can't, wait to move away from Erie, then after a couple years in Florida seen some really negative things there, don't get me wrong there is a good side to Florida, but bugs, gators, and snakes were not on the good list. I've been to many larger cities and seen curbside parking where the cars were parked so tight I had to wonder how they get them in an out with their bumpers nearly touching while parked. Most cities I have been to, I have liked many aspects of them, but still would not want to live in them. You touched on many positives of Erie but there are so many more, which would make the video far to long if you tried to include them all. We have water parks a, a nice zoo, amusement park, city events and free summer concerts. I also like the area shops on Federal Hill, or Hippie Hill like I call it. PS: Just realized I left out so many more positive things about here, but my post is already to long. to list more.

Traffic gets pretty bad on peach and state. Homes are becoming more expensive and less work being done on them.
    Average wage $10hr.
Gas is highly priced, it's cheaper in Ohio and New York.
The lake is often riddled with bateria and get closed off temporarily.
    Crime & Dugs
    Homelessness still escalating downtown.
    Public schools have many issues.
Roads usually take a while to get fixed, if at all.
It's far from perfect, it's cheaper than some areas.
    Lots of friendly people.
Going on a boat on the lake is a fun pastime.
    Great library.
    Lot's of claimable benefits.
Small enough town to not be costly for transportation.
    Free trolley.
One unique thing to note- the mall is shaped like a gun, pointing at city hall.

Well, let's see. I have lived in Erie most of my 50+ years and I have a hard time agreeing with Joe (Don't know him personally). To me this ad seems like a pitch to the richer part of the CZcams audience. Your kids will get a pretty good education if you have the money to send them to a private or catholic school. For jobs, I would do some research into our jobs market. It's not the greatest in my opinion if you don't have a Bachelor’s degree or better. As for the water, I think Joe has a filtration system hidden in his house somewhere because my water always smells and tastes like chlorine and let's not forget about the algae blooms we get around Presque Isle Peninsula in most recent years that have prevented us from swimming. Crime. I would do your research in this area also. One site I visited said the rate was above the country's average per population. Oh, and let's not forget about the lake-effect snow (Sometimes state record breaking) we get. (Your gonna need a decent sized snow blower or multiple kids. Lol). Remember we don't call it "Dreary Erie" for no reason. I don't want to be negative but I would say do your homework.

Never have hurricanes and rarely a tornado or hail just a long cold winter.
In the 70's Erie was a very well balanced manufacturing town and when you lose that you will see a decline in any city.

I remember a comment Barry Grossman said in the paper years ago. "Everybody is waiting for the next International Paper plant, I'm waiting for the next Splash Lagoon." The long-running rumor is that they want to turn Erie into a tourist trap. For what? Maybe 3-4 months out of the year? With low wages? But like I said. I don't hate Erie. I just wish it would do better. And the "Rare tornado and hail" comment had me rolling. 🤣

Erie has been a democratic run city all my 70 years that I’ve lived here and poverty is an issue along with nightly shootings in certain areas by certain groups, also we have to fly out of either Cleveland, Pittsburg or Buffalo as air service is currently limited and more expensive. Erie is transitioning away from manufacturing and flip flooping along investing in tourism for the last 60 years as the replacement, however , IMO , the trajectory of our country, with “15 minitute cities” social credit scores, digital currency, UBI income, a looming national debt crisis, all cast a dark cloud on that..remember who said “you will own nothing and eat zee bugs” …isnt that the direction we have been driven for the last 60 years?

We moved to Erie because we wanted to be near the Lake and we expected to like the weather here. However I was surprised when you said there was no traffic problem here. We sold our house on Davisson because the traffic noise became unbearable. Now we are living in an apartment temporarily till we find a house. The apartment happens to be near Peach St. The traffic here is unbearable.
We are considering moving into the country. Corry, PA. is one place we are considering and we are keeping our eyes open for a property that is available there.
Yes the Peninsula is great but getting to it is difficult for us. We have lived in Erie for about three years and we have been to the Peninsula only three times. The traffic down the hill is horrid. We have tried to walk or bicycle down to the bike trails but the traffic made this impossible. What is the point of all the bicycle trails on the Peninsula if you cannot ride your bicycle to the trails?
All the shopping is on Peach St. and Peach St is a miserable place which everybody hates. Yes we really like the weather here compared to Richmond, VA but the things we had expected to enjoy here are not possible.

Corry isn't a bad place, but it's really far from Peach Street and any other amenities in the Erie area. That area of Erie County is about as isolated from the rest of Erie County as you can get. As the person above me said, North East is a decent place to live and it's a lot closer to the things and places you would want to see and do. Peach Street and the mall are only about 4-5 exits west on I-90. You're also in the heart of Wine Country and extremely close to the lake as well. My wife's family is from Corry and I have lots of friends in North East, so I'm very well familiar with both of them. Neither one are really bad choices, but if I had to pick between the two I would pick NE all day, hands down.
And Joe... no traffic problem in Erie? I'm glad you don't play for the Eastern League champion SeaWolves, because that was a swing and a miss, my friend. 😂
