    “I don’t trust the dealership.” This is exactly why I try and take my car to a guy like you. My car is in the shop for this right now; misfires both on 2 and 4, and it chokes so bad at idle, like it’s suffocating. Replaced spark plugs, wires (because as you said, someone worked on it and didn’t know what they were doing and broke the tabs) and ignition cores. I have close to the same mileage as this car, so I wonder if this just part of the wonderful repairs that comes with age. Thanks for the video.

    Our 2016 Tiguan in the shop.. they said the only way to find the issue is to open the motor.. if it’s something wear and tear is not covered under extended warranty .. 😭😱.. cylinder 2 has 0 psi .. the carmax preferred mechanic said it’s like rolling dice.. also said it’s a common vw issue.. the most expensive Gas has always been used n all the services up to date.. it’s nerve wrecking… the sad part we still owe 10G on it.. hoping for it being under warranty so we can fix and trade it in.. this car should be banned from the states if it’s a money pit..

    Hello. I liked the video and the easy explanation you have made on the issue. I will allow myself to ask a question - I have an a4 b8 with the cdnc 2.0tfsi 2009 engine. I have a similar problem with P030200 P030000. The problem occurs only when the car is idle (under 1000RPM), once the RPMS exceed 1000-1200 the problem stops and the car runs without issues. So, when the car is idle the whole vehicle shakes and you can even hear the misfires from the exhaust behind the car. The only errors registered were the 2 mentioned above and nothing else. As far as I know the chain is ok, the injectors are new, the plugs were changed, the cylinders and the valves are fine (or so I am told), there was a repair done for the issue with the oil consumption on these engines (the head was opened again after that to check if everything is ok, they told me everything is fine), there is no carbon build up on intake valves. I have tried the official dealership and other high end car services, they all can not locate where the issue is, so here I am. Do you have an idea on what can be the cause or how should I proceed?

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  Před 8 měsíci

      its not easy to diagnose bad guides that have failed in the way that this engine has. It would require in cylinder pressure sensor with an oscilloscope, and even then you would have to have advances skills to know what your looking at. I certainly dont claim that. The ones like this I diagnosed through process of elimination.

    So I bought a NO CRANK NO START 2011 Tiguan that’s throwing a bunch of codes P0299-P304 and P12A2 P0507 & P2187 and pending codes are Pretty much all same plus P0016. • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  Před 2 lety +1

      If the p0016 reoccurs I would worry its out of time, meaning major engine damage. If it jumps time and the pistons smack the valves it has no compression. That engine usually damages all the exhaust valves. You can hear a lack of compression because the engine cranks over super easy. You can identify this with compression guage or with boroscope through the spark plug holes. Watch the following video. czcams.com/video/fKn5NqNR7T8/video.html

      In some models of VWs, a bad injector wiring harness will cause a P0300 usually accompanied by P030X (X = cylinder # that is misfiring). I am not certain about your CC. Unfortunately, on the EA888 engine, the injectors live underneath the intake and you may have to remove the intake to test the wiring harness.

    Can carbon build up cause misfire on cylinders and rough driving at low rpm? Also epc and check engine light? It all started with cold start misfires but car drove well.
    Recently it started rough idling and misfiring a lot while driving and it was very noticable, engine shaking as well.
    I replaced spark plugs and coil packs, still the same. Misifiring always from cylinder 2 and 4.

    Hi there! Really appreciate your video! My partner took her car to get the coolant changed. When she picked it up, the check engine light was flashing accompanied by another - EPC. We took it straight back and the mechanic accepted no responsibility whatsoever despite me explaining that the car had 0 issues before. Now it’s in limp mode and sitting in our drive way. Is it possible that what you said around 10:52 about air leaking into the coolant could be the cause? If so, where do I check? I should also mention that the mechanic scanned the car when we brought it back and he said it was the ignition coil in cylinder two. After I change that we noticed little to no change at all 🙃 Thank you kindly for your help!

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  Před rokem

      listened at 10:52 and I was discussing the cylinder leakdown test where the air from my test tool was going. I dont know how that applies since you dont have that tool installed on your car. These cars develop misfires all the time so it is absolutely plausible that it is unrelated to the work your mechanic did, although it is also plausible it is related to something he did. I have lots of videos on misfire diagnosis, you should employ the diagnosis techniques in those videos or get it to a mechanic you trust.
