    I have a 2000 jetted tdi. After every start the turbo boost doesn't kick in until rpms reach about 2250.this is a consistent thing happens every time for the last 30k miles at least. Once started and revved to that 2250 rpm the boost is there immediately until shut off.then the process starts over again.

      graph boost as shown in tdi P0234 video. Diagnosis is a process of collecting information. Just describing what its doing isn't enough, but I would guess you have a overboost code.

      check compression. Check cylinder leak down. Then other stuff. Super Mario did a direct injected car awhile back and the injector seal was leaking. cylinder leak down showed it and smoke into cylinder revealed the cause.

    Amazing video, you were thorough and paid so much attention to detail, defs deserve a subscribe and like, I think im having a similiar issues, I have the same engine in my a3 convertible, did a rebuild,, changed, spark plugs, coil packs injector, line boared the head, schemed the head, replaced rings and valves as well as bearings after cutting the krank as i hit a bearing knock, im gettting a misfire on cylinder 3 but when checking compression, it is low on 3 of the cylinders, the misfire appears mostly on idle and at low revs but when driving the car its fine on top, VCDS is kicking out a camshaft retard error but the variator solenoid is replaced as well, my mechanic is thinking the valve clearances could be incorrect as we did not adjust them considering the fact that we have done so much head work do you think this could cause such a result?

      correct diagnosis is important to not waste money changing parts that are not the cause of the problem. scan tool like vagcom can show you which cylinder is misfiring. If multiple cylinders are misfiring you have to look at why. Scan tool like vagcom can also show you fuel trims to help with multiple cylinder misfires. Here is one of my most recent videos where I used fuel trim to help with a diagnosis. czcams.com/video/K214of8Wzjg/video.html

    This makes little sense, it needs to be a helluva leak to cause a misfire. This vehicle does not look old and this exhaust valve issue should not be happening.

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  Před rokem +2

      It makes perfect sense. I would assume you haven't watched both videos. the exhaust guides were wiped out. The machine shop replaced a ferrous alloy exhaust guide with "brass" guides. They did this on 4 customer cars and one of my own. A competitors shop got the same treatment as well. Every single car they put those guides in came back with guides wiped out with random misfires (difficult to diag by the way).. Everyone was fixed under warranty. Last one on my car was finally put back together, only weeks ago.

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  Před rokem +1

      @@mrofnocnon Sorry I guess words matter. Me saying "brass" wasn't stating the the guides were pure brass, just that that was the "type" of guide they were. I certainly can't name the exact metallurgical content. Intakes are "brass" and exhaust are a "ferrous" alloy. Using "brass" ones was the mistake the machine shop made. This cost us severely as we had at least 5 cars on the road that had the repeat failure. Some of them we had to buy VW head to warranty. We have since found a supplier for ferrous guides for the exhaust.
