That first pause around 2:20 was the most diplomatic way of answering the people who really REALLY seem to loathe Coldplay for always 'sounding like themselves.'
Genuine musical enjoyment outranks musical snobbery; this music is simple, melodic, and evocative--like traditional folk music or even early Classical stuff like Telemann or Rameau or maybe Clementi.

it always makes me want to cry. just like the sax in baker street makes you want to fly, the piano makes people sad or introspective. both iconic riffs, btw...

You should also check out Talk from Coldplay. It was the epitome of 'old' Coldplay and it might make you interested in another group, the germa proto-techno group Kraftwerk from wich they borrowed the guitar rift.

You'd really love Speed of Sound. That song takes me to another world. Adventures of a Lifetime, Paradise, Violet Hill, Trouble in Town, Arabesque are also great.

  • @georgehasleftthebuilding6621

There goes J reading my mind AGAIN ⏰. Chris is like Jerry Lee ABSOLUTELY KILLING THOSE IVORYS . And his lyrics are primo....Ricky Gervais uses TONS of coldplay music in his work, the beautifully powerful 'Derek' being his BEST series ever.

Mate the look on your face says it all, just listen to their music and let it get deep into your heart, i can see that you feel it. Its so lovely to see a young American guy fall in love with an UK band. Huge respect to you from England. It an absolute pleasure to see you smile while listening to coldplay, we all do that.

You feel the music so, so good. You're why these bands make this music. So people can get that LOOK when they're closing their eyes and listening. You had that look. You feel it the way it was to be felt.

Coldplay are the best! One of my favourite bands. Chris Martin is so humble. Seen them in concert 4 times now. First time I saw them not many people had heard of them. They played in a smallish hall in Brisbane city Australia. I was like a foot away from Chris. His and the bands energy on stage is outstanding. Anyone who has the chance to see them live, do it! When they sang yellow, thousands of yellow balloons flooded the arena. There are just no words to describe this band

Man this was one of the songs played from 2002-2009 at least, at my local football teams stadium in the UK every home tie before the game. I went with my family to every one for years and it transports me back there rain or shine we'd be watching. Good times, and amazing how music just puts you somewhere.
