- Unity Multiplayer Game Development - Hello guys, this is my 10th update video showing the progress on my current multiplayer game project.
I am making a multiplayer first person action shooter game with multiple game-modes that can be played in a variety of team sizes. Hopefully that will be fun but, we'll have to see. In this update video I finished color texturing the ship map and added a melee item type. I also created a new lobby map and implemented a voting system.

Yeah now that I have the melee system built I can easily add lots more melee items. Right now though I am just focusing on the systems rather than the content. Loads of content will be added to the game closer to when it ready to be released :p

Great progress on the ship map! And the lobby layout looks great too! I don't know if it fits your game style, but adding ambient occlusion to your lobby would help to stand out the walls a little more. 😁
There is real-time ambient occlusion in every scene of my game. I think its just hard to see after CZcamss compression. Thanks! :p
The ship map really looks like it's coming together now and the lobby looks like it could be fun. It kind of reminds me of some old multigames maps from counter strike.

Nice! The new lobby area is looking really good! Not sure how much of a pain it would be but perhaps a simple day night cycle thing for the lobby could look good?

@@xzippyzachx From my experience this isn't super hard... Just some timeout and then change the skybox.. Then again, I've never used Unity. How hard would this actually be?

The beat thing ive ever experienced you accully used my idea from the last update video i gave you the idea of not being able to shoot again that quickly when you switch weapons

Cool, the overall video is a step up from the other ones, I can see you put way more effort into it. Nice job. You might already be working on something like this, but try rendering the "item that the player is holding" using a separate camera so the item doesn't clip through other objects. Not necessary, but it could look nice
Thanks! Yeah I have tried this. The issue I ran into was that shadows from the surrounding objects did not cast on the item since it was being rendered by another camera... I will try it again some day :p

I think I would be cool if you could add wall running or that might be too hard idk?? Maybe you could add special maps for wall running? Anyway I'm really excited for this game! Good luck!

Make the knife be in a third item slot or make it so you press a button to attack with it
You could also add teamkilling, make it a setting the admin has to add
To help players find what type of game they want make there be a server filter
I might introduce a 3rd item slot for melee items. And yes the team killing is already a server admin option

you should add a blunderbuss type weapon for a close range weapon. the bulnderbuss would do a lot of damage up close and very little from afar, it’s single shot, and a long reload

* i have a question/suggestion; would you ever consider to add customization to the game once some more important things are finalized?
* i think having a currency system where you gain money depending on how good you did in a match would be pretty cool!! and with that currency you could buy accesories for your avatar and/or skins for your wepons :] or, maybe, instead of getting accesories its just whole new characters! (think of how the roblox game arsenal works)
* you obviously dont have to add any of this, but i think customization would be cool and could possibly engage players in the game more!

you should add recoil animation!! would be very easy and simple but i think it would polish the game very well :)

It will be released for PC/MacOS/Linux but I am not sure when. The game is still in early development. :p
you should have the gun go back to its original position when the player is done shooting. It would make shooting much more fun.
It will continue to be tweaked. Maybe I will try this not sure though.

I really love your content. and I have a suggestion if you add small animals like in counter strike global offensive where they have chickens you could add some kind of animal and you would get a random item either ammo or health or something like that
Actually, there are fish in the water on the ship map. Watch my last video to see them. But yeah I might add some more animals.

You are so motivating! I'm 15 (almost 16) and watched your 5 years of game dev video first, and have been binging your videos since. I tried to get into unity a year ago but was demotivated because I thought It was too hard and I'm not smart enough. I'm back into it now and have been making progress every day! One thing I'd want to ask though, is do you have any tips you think you should've done when you were younger? Because I'm around the spot you were in your video, and I have trouble understanding some concepts (usually math related).
If you are just starting out with Unity I would recommend watching the CZcams channel called "Brackeys". They have lots of easy to follow tutorials that are great for learning how to make games! I started by watching CZcams tutorials myself too. Good luck! :p

Hey so recently I was thinking of making this game. So there is a HH-60 (blackhawk) and you sit on the left side, you play as a chopper gunner. Each mission brings you to the desert, a forest, or maybe a enemy base. What you do is you stay on the helicopter and shoot at bad guys, and while you're doing that the npc tries to get on board (because you have to save him.) The more you progress the more weapons you get. (M4, M16, M249, etc.) And a multi-player mode where someone is on the window gunner and door gunner left side. I don't know how to make this but if you already made videos on stuff related to this please send the tutorial, and if you want to take the game for yourself let me know and send me the link to the download of the game. You have some cool ideas! I would recommend searching for tutorial series here on CZcams about how to make a multiplayer game. Keep in mind that multiplayer is an advanced topic and you should be comfortable making single player games first. Good Luck!

I think you should make the guns recoil separate from the camera recoil if you can and have the players hand on the gun but i tubing that is coming so keep working hard🙂
I know what you mean but that's not the recoil style I am going for. The separated recoil style is seen in games like CSGO or Valorant but I am going for the recoil style used in games like Rainbow Six Siege.

@@xzippyzachx ragdolls don’t need to sync, in TF2, ragdolls are client-sided, there’s a mod for TF2 that makes the ragdolls floppier, proving it isn’t synced

I feel like you should work on the weapons more, like the recoil and give it more of a feel to it.
Yeah the weapon feel is still a constant work in progress :p

Hey zippy you know that guy you suggested we watch about multiplayer networks in the first vid of this series? Well is the tutorial outdated because it seems like it is or im doing something wrong...
This tutorial series still works but he is working on a new updated one right now
animate the delay so it looks like you are racking the slide on the pistol, hitting the bolt release on the rifle, or working the bolt on the sniper.

Photon is good if you are making like a 5-10 player game more than that can cost quite a bit but it is a lot more easy than a making your own server
@path basically summed it up. Photon is really good but its meant for smaller player sizes and can cost a lot of money has your player base grows

I do have plans to remake an old gamemode that's like r6s from my old multiplayer game. I will be calling it "Barricade & Breach". Its on my long to do list :p

How do I make the character carry a weapon?
Inverse Kinematics. Its a technique to make animation bones follow a point.

The walls for the Ship map look too bland. You could improve it by naming each area of the map and then having directions to each area on the walls.
Yea I think I will add decals for the capture the flag game mode to tell players where the flags are

I came up with the look and style of the player character. I am interested where have you seen this player model style before??? Also the right hand does hold the gun currently. The left hand will eventually hold the gun also.
