5 Years of Making Games in Unity!

  • Five years ago I discovered Unity. These are some of the games and learning experiences that are the result. I decided, rather than forgetting about them that I would share them with you!
Over the past 5 years I have made dozens of new Unity projects and almost none of them turned into a final product. You could say that most of them turned into nothing, but I think of them all as learning experiences. After I lost interest in one game I was able to use the knowledge that I learned to make my next game better.

@@xzippyzachx I will. I'm gonna wait until I build a teaser for one of my game projects before I ask anyone to help though. I lost the hard-drive with basically all my life's work on ... I had projects on there encompassing everything from games to a 32-bit embedded operating system, AI learning to chatbots ... I even wrote a comprehensive C# framework to extend the standard .NET libraries that defined a range of useful new types, extension methods and operators ... it was quite impressive ... and I've had to completely start over again from scratch. At least I never lost knowledge, though. 🤷‍♂️

I keep remembering other things I lost, like my "dynamic loader" that could load any DLL at runtime, obtain pointers to native functions, marshal them into C# delegates and execute them on the fly. Could also allocate a block of RAM and dynamically create an executive process by injecting binary instructions or assembling processor mnemonics ... thinking about rewriting that stuff makes my head hurt today 😪
