The trouble with applying that logic to mothers from ultra-wealthy families is their children are typically raised by a series of nannies. The importance of touch between mother&child is an essential step in developing that bond. I’ve encountered several people raised this way. They have an almost autistic-like empathy for others and difficulty trusting because they attract the kind of snakes that just want something from them.

OR nurse here. While there have been cases of this happening, it’s extremely rare. Blood pressure and heart rate would skyrocket if exposed to stress like that. Long cases like a heart transplant have a continuous drip of anesthesia medication (in the States, Propofol) so that this doesn’t happen. What usually happens instead is the paralytic drug starts wearing off first, so the patient will spontaneously start breathing (which can lead to coughing against the ventilator, which causes the body to move, and that’s not what you want during surgery) , indicating they need to be redosed.
Also, I wanna have a word with whoever they consulted about what an OR actually looks like!

Sleep is the same thing except it's not as powerful. Like what they described in the movie would be the same as sleep paralysis. Where the substance secreted to rupture the signals from the body and brain stops affecting the brain but your body still doesn't receive messages from your brain so it won't move. To make things short the brain and nervous system have units that helps send and receive messages. General Anesthesia acts as a temporary blocking system that stops signals like pain (pain receptors don't receive a thing) and without it there wouldn't be any reaction weather it's voluntary (goes all the way to the brain) or involuntary (quick reaction that loops from pain source to the spin for a much quicker reaction). The brain function is also affected temporarily. This is why most patients on general anesthesia don't experience dreams while being out cold. X) but idk still do ur research. The anesthesia is multilayered process. Drugs for muscle relieve, drugs for consciousness, ect. That is why you have anesthesiologist sitting beside you all the time monitoring vital functions. Sometimes it happens that you wake up, usually at the end of the operation. I mean when it is all done. In case, which I guess, never happened, if you would wake up during surgery (not able to move but feel everything), your heart beat would jump sky high and they would notice immediately and use more drugs.
