    In case you’re wondering this can be done on an m278 but plan on replacing the top chain guide. It pops in the under side of the valve cover. And when you compress the timing chain tensioner compress it slowly. Better to replace it to be on the safe side. Hardest part is getting the camshaft adjuster on with the chain in place.

    Not bad. No liquid sealant goes on the cam solenoids though, they are O-ring sealed.

    Недавно делал такую работу . Оказывается не я один такой в этом мире правда делал первый раз ушло 3 часа но это лучшее чем разбирать пол двигателя . Ребятам респект за то что не обманвают людей . Кстати также можно цепь поменять без снятия распредвалов

      The rattling was due to an oil change. Once the oil in the system circulated and pressured up, they shut it of and re-started it. Notice the sound did not occur on the second startup.

      @edwincolon7782 Před 2 lety +2

    • @kafklatsch3198
      @kafklatsch3198 Před 10 měsíci

      The logic is that you mark the camshaft adjuster and camshaft reluctor wheel against the block. You do this to put everything exactly where it was. If you do this, your timing will be exactly as it should be.

    • @fredchiang7139
      @fredchiang7139 Před 10 měsíci

      so the cam adjuster laser marks not lining up with two yellow chain marks is ok?

    • @kafklatsch3198
      @kafklatsch3198 Před 10 měsíci

      @@fredchiang7139 The engine should be at 40 deg past TDC, and actually, those small cam adjustets would spin multiple times before the long chain would rotate once... So there would have to be markings every few inches all around the chain in order to ensure that the marks all lined up at each adjuster revolution... Or you might have to turn the engine dozens of times to get the marks aligned... But you DONT have to do this. When the engine is at 40 degrees pass t d c... The camshafts are in their maintenance position... At this time, you mark an overlapping spot on the chain and the adjuster, and also against the block/adjuster and against the reluctor wheel/block... This is actually overkill, as only the chain VS the adjuster is actually all That's needed, but In this case overkill gives you diy'er redundancy.. So you transfer the adjuster marks and put the new adjuster back in that exact same spot. Think about it. Logically, the engine is now exactly where it was before you started the work...

    • @kafklatsch3198
      @kafklatsch3198 Před 10 měsíci

      @edwincolon7782 there is more to it... image if you rotated the camshaft and adjuster 180 degrees on one bank... or maybe didn't notice a 10-degree rotation.. and then simply counted perfectly "accurately" the chain spaces between the adjuster .. you coild destroy the engine instantly.. or with the small accidental rotation, have a very rough running engine.
      SO,
      You will get the spacing you describe automatically by placing an alignment mark on the chain and adjuster for each bank.. transfer the mark, and when you place the new adjuster on the corrosponding chain mark, you get the spacing you mentioned, and equally important, you get the camshaft back in the exact same spot as you started...

      @@jeffrobbins2318From memory I think the manual said dont reverse turn the crank (counter clockwise) plus you're only checking that the signal plate indicators of the camshafts are all dead centre by turning it to 53, if any of those aint then you know the misaligned camshaft(s) is gone and you need to replace it along with new adjusters. After checking I would just turn the crank clockwise until you reach 40, lock it in place and begin ripping it apart. Thats just my understanding anyways
