    Hey guys dont let this video fool you the most important part is not shown here and that is to set the timing correctly before pulling the tensioners. If you dont you will destroy your engine immediately. Just a warning for everyone, its a a few people that do the video on this so be careful.

      When replacing the tensioner timing chain never skips location on Gears why do you have to go to top dead center or 0

      Why do you have to put timing at 0 that timing chain never skips T when you replace tensioners

    • @cloudk2030
      @cloudk2030 Před rokem +1

      @N/A N/A exactly
      . Also that's why you do one tensioner at a time in order to not create excess slack on the chain in order to prevent jumping teeth. The only way it goes out of timing is if the chain skips a tooth on the sprocket

      Awesome! I was so excited to see that you were able to do this without removing the thermostat or oil filter housing. Those are the things that were bothering me the most.
      The other question I had, the instructions say you have to put the motor at 40°, but I never understood why? You're not messing or changing the timing at all, why does it matter?

    The rattle did not get fixed at all when you started the car... was this after replacing the check valves? I was going to do this for a customer but it looks like after you replaced the adjuster and the valves it still did not resolve the issue

      @darrenwilliamson7944 Před 5 měsíci +1

      I'm pretty sure it was just priming up on the initial start. The rattle went away very quickly unlike with weak tensioners and lack of anti-drain valves.

    So I am seriously considering attacking this job on my 2012 CLS550 (M278.922) but not sure about whether my skills will allow it! I have successfully completed the spark plugs recently and seriously thought that was about as far as I can go. I see from your video you can do this job without removing the engine from it's bay. I also noticed the blue painted bolts on the chain covers and thought if your engine had these bolts it meant that this service bulletin was already carried out.

      So I am. I think the passenger side is doable but the driver side will be tought. You will be dealing with clearance issues. Make sure you have all the tools needed. Let me know how it turns out. Good luck!!

      @@NANA-do9tw the whole check valve situation is that the early production m276, m278 etc. did not have check valves installed at all. I have one right now with lower miles, like 60k. if they have check valves installed it can be the tensioners are worn and bleeding pressure out. Also there is another rattle that is caused by the intake cam adjusters. 9/10 times its the bank 1 intake sprocket.
