@@garyturner5739 My mother was a doctor training in psychiatry when this was broadcast, she couldn't breathe for laughing when she heard that line. Remember back then, you watched the broadcast and then that was it, no video machines, so you had to hold on to every line

I agree. The psychiatrist’s ‘enough material’ comment is so crucial to the take. Wish I could find a short clip that just goes from Basil hopping to ‘ There’s enough material.. ‘ 👍

One of very few times where Basil actually speaks the truth and doesn't need to come up with an extravagant lie to explain his actions and she doesn't buy it. Not that anyone can blame her, I suppose. Basil lies so often and so excessively that it's hard to distinguish the truth from the lies.
Still, for all his (many) faults, unfaithfulness was not one of them. Not once did Basil ever cheat on his wife or find himself tempted by another woman, despite having a very good chance to do so with that French guest that one time. Sybil can blame him for a lot, but not for being unfaithful to her.
